Private A wayward pair

It wasn't uncommon for people to get up and move closer if a melody took hold of them the way they usually did. Lana was quite used to it in fact; there were even unseen measures taken to make sure that people didn't get too close to her. The last thing the boss needed was someone snatching up his money maker and trying to take off with her. So when Vess had moved, Lana didn't think a whole lot about it.

No, it wasn't until her chin was righted that she seemed to key in on what was going on, and then it was too late to try and stop it. The tune was hummed a few moments more, but then there was quiet which of course would let Vess at least realize what had happened. She also seemed to at least mostly shake off the overall effects of the melody, though to be fair Lana hadn't really been singing either.

While Laneya's cheeks were rosy with color too, she shook her head and held up a hand. "It's fine Vess, really." she assured. "I told you, it affects everyone differently. But it seems like you're susceptible for sure..." She lift a hand to touch her fingers against her own lips briefly and her cheeks darkened just a bit more.

Fine, it wasn't bloody well fine she made a fool of herself, her cheeks still heavy shade of crimson she sheepishly moved back to the chair she had been sitting in prior. "Well, that was unexpected." she somewhat managed to cough out the words. "So uh, how long do you think we should lay low before we get out of here?" she glanced back at the nearby window, secretly hoping they could just move on and forget what happened, still though she had to admit Lana was a good kisser. The mental kick that followed was not in the least bit gentle.
She was thinking through anything quickly to come up with a topic change, both for Lana's sake and her own before she drove herself mental. She pulled out a small portable terminal from her pocket and laid it on the table, a couple quick button presses and a holographic interface popped to life in front of her. She her hands moved rapidly, Lana would see her skill with slicing was not understated, as she quickly sliced into the police forces mainframe and did a quick search for either of them.
"Well, the good news is the local cops don't know we exist"

It was easy enough to see that Vess felt badly for what had happened, and all Lana could do in response was tuck loose hair behind her ears once more and sit quietly. She had meant what she had said about it being alright that this had happened; it wasn't exactly the first time in the girl's life, and while it was never planned, it likely wouldn't be the last. But she let it drop, lest the subject bring about sour feelings and cause problems. It's not like the pair knew each other all that well, and the last thing Lana wanted was to be tossed out on her backside.

So when Vess started tinkering with something new, it pulled Lana's attention and she sat a little more on the edge of her seat so that she could watch. It wasn't something she did invasively because honestly she didn't know all that much about slicing, but it was interesting regardless. Especially the news that came up. "Really?" her gaze lifted from the device to Vess instead. "Well that's good news. That means we should be able to leave whenever, right?"

She paused and then frowned a little. "Or...do you think anyone else might be looking for the trail...?"

She nodded in agreement with the second question before anything else "It just means the people after us haven't gone to the local authorities, that most likely means the authorities know nothing more than a shootout occurred and a group of thugs got hit with an ion charge." her fingers moved quickly over the holo display before nodding. "We'll just do this... And done now we can move, I triggered an alarm on the other side of the city. Only gave my description so you are in the clear. So now the law and the bad guys are hunting for me. Easiest way out of this in my mind, while they are all heading that way I'll get to the starport and skip offworld." she shut off the terminal and slipped it back into her jacket pocket before turning her eyes to Lana with a small smile.
"I didn't mention you at all in the report, as far as they know, I got patched up and am on the run again. That means you should be free and clear, just keep your head down for a few days and you should be able to go back to your life." she glanced to the door for a moment before she looked back at Lana. "But, if your bored.... Want to come with? I promise it wont get boring." she gave a mischievous smile and inclined her head ever so slightly.

There was quiet from Lana as she watched Vess work through whatever it was she was doing. It didn't take long, but she picked at the bottom hem of her shirt regardless while she waited. Some part was nerves, considering everything that had gone down throughout the night thus far. But in most part, it was just something to keep Lana's hands busy while Vess worked her magic.

"You triggered an alarm across the city from here?" she questioned, then shook her head. "That's a skillset to have for sure..." and she wasn't being a smart aleck about it either. It was a genuine statement. Maybe if Laneya herself had more practical skills, she wouldn't be waiting tables in some diner. It was not the ideal life for sure, but at least it was one she had gotten for herself, in spite of everything she had endured growing up.

She watched as Vess got up and tucked her things away, but what she had
not expected was that question that followed after. "Me?" she quipped in return. Well, of course her, she was the only one in the room with Vess. "I mean..." Lana's brow pulled down in the middle and for a long moment she stared up at the other girl as she seriously considered this offer. There was nothing here tying her down. Nothing but the mediocre apartment, the dead end job, and people who didn't understand her by any means. All things she could establish - or change! - someplace else.

"Alright," she spoke out with a nod and stood up from her seat. "Yeah, I'll go with." she clarified.

Vess looked up from the question with a grin a slight tilt from her head as brown hair fell into her eyes. "Trivial thing to do really, I can teach you are remotely interested at all." she beamed proudly at her friend. She threw her bag over her shoulder and Looked at Lana as she pondered the question.

She watched as she wrapped her hand around the strap of the bag as it dug into her shoulder seeking to hold it in place. Vess wore a grin from ear to ear and held out her other hand to Lana. "Perfect let's go. We'll head to Naboo, it's great there or so I have heard, personally never been there" Vess lead Lana out of the house and into the street, she didn't see any cause for concern just people moving about, no longer sensing the need for haste she moved through the streets toward the starport. "So what do you know about Naboo?"

"I think trivial is subjective." Lana stated while making a slight face. What was trivial to Vess, was probably daunting to others - others like Lana, for example. But, everyone had their own skillsets, and that was more than alright. If Vess could teach her? Great, she wouldn't be opposed to that at all. If not? Well, no real loss, so long as she didn't screw up something major while trying to learn.

But for now, Laneya got up from where she had been sitting and glanced around. She didn't have anything with her to bring on this trip, but its not as if she had a whole heck of a lot to take with her anyhow. So she followed Vess down to the street once again, and glanced both ways along the street before her brow creased. Not an authority figure in sight.

"Naboo?" she had meant to ask why Naboo in the first place, but they had moved past that for the moment. "All I know is it's apparently super clean, pretty to look at, and is ruled by a Queen." she shrugged. "Other than that? No idea, I've never been either." But that caused a slow grin to pull at the corners of Lana's mouth. "Just means there'll be plenty of exploring to do when we get there, right?"
