Druckenwell, it was not exactly Coruscant but it wasn't Tatooine either for Vess' part she quite enjoyed living on a world controlled by mega-corporations, there was ample opportunity for somebody with her talents to make a name for herself, and she had indeed managed that of the years. She spent a lot of time bouncing from place to place out of necessity, as one would expect from a planet of wealthy corporations would be more than happy to employ the skills of a slicer with little sense of wrong in siphoning off data from competitors for profit. One such job she had stolen designs for a certain product and handed that design to another firm. Mission completed, the payment received, however, being the clever slicer she was she maintained a copy and sold it to several other companies as well and now there may or may not be multiple security forces on the lookout for her, perhaps she had finally overstayed her welcome on this planet after all.
Currently, Vess was rapidly packing her few belongings along with all her credits into a satchel when she heard a commotion from down below, she scrambled quickly now and ran to her holo terminal setting an ion charge on it and arming it with a short countdown, by the time they arrived it would be nothing more than a useless chunk of metal, she darted over to the window as she glanced outside, there had always been this possibility and so she had planned for it, slinging her bag over her shoulder she pried the window open and slipped outside as she heard the door behind her bust open, she edged her way along a series of pipes between her building and another, from the other building she could make a straight line for the starport, steal a ship and be long gone before they caught up, or so she thought as she heard a blaster shot fire and then pass by her head, followed by another close behind.
"Wow, ok a bit of an overreaction guys!" she scrambled along the pipe faster now as more blaster bolts rained down behind her, Vess was definitely not having a good day at all.

It had been a very, very slow shift at the diner. Part of this was due to the fact that Laneya had not been up on the roster to perform this evening, which meant that her songstress ways would not amplify her tips any. Granted, her charming personality helped her along too, but it was a combination of things. Business was slow this evening, and admittedly she was still a little down about being all worked up towards this Knights Obsidian thing only for nothing to come of it. Granted, the credits she had been paid forward had helped her quite a lot in the meantime. She was paid in advance for her place, and her utilities, and that was all well and good. But the chance she had, had to get off of this rock?

It was a spirit dampener to say the very least.

So by the end of her shift Lana was just ready to go home, get into her pajamas, and lounge for the night. She had clocked out after helping close up, said her goodnights to the rest of the staff, and then was out the door headed for her place. It wasn't entirely uncommon to hear disturbances along the way from point A to point B, but the sound of blaster fire caught Lana's ear and caused her to seek out the source. She was careful about it, sticking to walls, shadows, and corners of buildings until she seemed to find what it was causing such a ruckus - and of course, not too far from where Lana lived.

"Naturally..." she breathed out in a sigh and shook her head a little. Her gaze had watched as these shooters scrambled about, but she hadn't caught sight of the escapee. At least not until there was a flash of hair along the side of the building. Her brow creased, and her attention went back to the men attempting to shoot this girl through the window, and with a scoff Lana lift a hand and slammed the window shut right across the body of one of the pursuers.

Why? She had no idea, and that fact showed right on her face when she seemed to realize what she had done. Her gaze then went to her hands, and she looked even more stunned by the fact before her gaze went quickly back to the other girl trying to get away. "Hurry up, I don't know how long that'll hold!" she yelled out. Again, why was beyond her. She didn't know that girl, or why she was being shot at, but instinct told her to help - so she did.

The shooting stopped for a moment her face showed confusion before she turned back to look and saw the window she had dropped through had shut on them she didn't know how but she continued to scramble across the pipes, then she heard the ion charge go off in her apartment and just grinned as she made it to the other side, flattening against the side of the building as she laughed and caught her breath. "Well, that will buy some time" she glanced over at the woman next to her. "Uh thanks, but you should really get away from me, they aren't exactly trying to ask me out you know." she reached into her bag and threw a credit chit at Laneya, total value around 50,000 credits give or take "Seriously, get out of here these are not nice people and I may have double or triple, quadruple? whats after quadruple? Well regardless double-crossed them on a business deal"
She sighed as she caught her breath and pushed up off the wall, getting her first look at Laneya really, for Vess part, she was a young brown-haired woman who looked human but was a bit more than that in truth, part of why she was so good and what she did. Moving around the other woman she placed a hand on her shoulder and gave a nod she she moved past "Thanks, I'll get out of here just point them at me they should leave you alone once they know where I went"

"Wha-" Well, that hadn't exactly been the sort of greeting she had expected. Truth be told, Lana hadn't expected much of a greeting at all. Maybe a quick 'thanks' and a passing by, but that was about the extent of it. So when she got brief conversation and a credit chit tossed to her, the brunette teen was admittedly a little surprised. For a moment she stared, turning the piece over in her hand a few times while she attempted to wrap her head around what had just happened. Why were people just laying out credits for her all of a sudden? Not that she mind of course...

The hand to her shoulder brought her back, and Lana made a noise in her throat as she shift to face the other girl. "Wait, do you have some place to get away to?" she questioned. Again, why she was interfering with this business was beyond her, but instinct was strong here. "I have a place not far from here, and while its not much, it could get you off of the streets long enough to let the heat die down."

Was this a bad idea? Yeah, most likely. But after the last time someone had randomly stepped into her life, and nothing coming of it? What did she have to lose?

Vess’ attention turned back to the other girl, a bit surprised herself that she would try to help out not that it was unwelcome just unexpected, most people in the galaxy just wanted to get by and not be involved in other peoples business thats why when she called back to her the brown haired girl was slightly surprised. “You sure about that?” She said glancing back to her own apartment before looking back at Laneya, truth be told she didn’t want to put anybody at risk. She did not mind breaking the law but bringing somebody else into her own problems bothered her, it always had.

“I don’t really think its a good idea, you help me they will come after you too. Then we will both have problems, as it is I'm going to have to get off world” she sighed as she heard the nearby window shatter with renewed shouting and a few blaster bolts flew toward them both she grabbed Laneya and shoved her out of the way of one that hit her square in her right shoulder “Never-mind moral hesitation over lead on we need to move”

Alright, that was fair. While part of Lana didn't feel right to allow this girl to just scoot off on her own and face whatever wrath of these people who were clearly after her, she wasn't going to force it either. She had offered her help, and that was as much as she could do - without singing a little song, of course - right? So, the brunette nodded her head and took a couple of steps back before pivoting on a heel so that she could get the hell out of Dodge. Or at least, she started to do as such.

When she was shoved aside, Lana gasped loudly and her body shifted so that she could grab onto this other girl as if to attempt to throw her aside and make a break for it. However, the blaster bolt mended any suspicions and Lana's grip loosened but didn't let go entirely. "Come on," she instructed, and let loose of the other girl only to reach down and take the hand of her uninjured arm instead.

Lana pulled her new companion through the very path she herself had taken to reach the scene, and once there it was only a couple of more blocks - though with quite a few detours to make sure their trail wasn't easy to follow at all - before the pair reached Laneya's home. The apartment building wasn't overly impressive, but it wasn't dingy either. Three floors up and a door was pushed open to reveal the waitress' little abode. "Go ahead and take a seat at the table," she made a gesture to the makeshift dining room that was nestled in a corner of the apartment between wall and kitchenette. "I've got a first aid kit around here somewhere." she assured, then made sure the front door was locked before disappearing down a little hallway and into another room.

The sting of the blaster bolt was the only thing that registered for several moments before she finally realized the other girl had her by the hand and was basically dragging her along. No, not exactly dragging she was running at the same pace as her, her mind clouded from the pain in her shoulder but she pushed through it, they winded their course very smart, she knew not to go in a straight line Vess followed her inside and dropped into a chair at the table ungracefully, one hand going up to cradle the injured shoulder in a vain attempt to suppress the pain. "Yea, if you have never been shot try to avoid it, it's not fun.." humor a typical defense mechanism another way to attempt to dull the pain, her brown eyes turned and followed the other girl as she went off in search of her medkit. "Sorry about all this, I really didn't want to involve you" she sighed leaning her head back against the chair.
There was no lie, no ill intent no angle it was all true she screwed up and she just wanted to get off-world and she probably just ruined some girls life who was probably perfectly happy with her existence as it was, or maybe she was as screwed up as she was though doubtful, she seemed a bit more put together than Vess. "So we should probably do introductions.. My name is Vess, you?"

-------------------------------

It didn't take long for Laneya to come up with the medkit she had stepped away to go and retrieve. She had it open, rummaging through it as she re-approached the other girl now sat at her kitchen table. "Nothing to apologize to me for," Lana stated, glancing up only momentarily to make sure her guest was still upright for the moment. "I mean, the moment I slammed the window shut, I became involved." Honestly she still wasn't quite sure how that had happened, but she wasn't going to question it right now either.

"Alright, so good news and bad news," she started, and pulled a chair over so that she could sit in front of this other girl. "I have nothing that I can just spray on and heal the bolt wound. However, I do have everything needed to clean it thoroughly and either patch it or stitch it if that's what it needs." She made a gesture, a vague one, for the other to reveal the wound. When she was offered an introduction, Lana smiled just a little and nodded her head. "I'm Laneya, Lana for short. And while it's nice to meet you Vess, I'm sorry it's under these circumstances."

She smiled warmly at Lana and shrugged before wincing at the pain reminding her the shoulder was injured "Lana it is then. So we do this the old fashioned way" she carefully slipped her jacket off of her injured shoulder letting it drop lose and turned slightly exposing the injured shoulder for Lana to tend to. She was just wearing a white tank top beneath the jacket so the wound was at least clean, relatively.
She sighed as she pulled her arm free of the jacket on wincing a bit "Alright do what you need to do, lets just get it over with"

---------------------------

The medkit was set aside only long enough for Lana to help Vess with her jacket. She was slow, and careful, making sure not to jerk the material around or cause any further irritation to the wound than had already been done or was currently being done for that matter. Once it was out of the way, Lana sighed through her nose as she examined the wound. "It's not as bad as I thought it was going to be," she admit, though truth be told Laneya had never really seen a blaster wound up close before, so her imagination had indeed run a bit wild.

She shift and picked up the kit again, getting out a couple of things to make sure she could get the wound really clean before any bandaging took place. "Alright, I'm sorry if it stings." she let out, "Though I imagine it probably won't be nearly as bad as being shot." true or not, that was the only warning before Lana set about cleaning Vess' shoulder. While she wasn't overly cautious with her tending, she wasn't brutal about it either. Lana seemed to have an understanding that just because she couldn't feel the pain, didn't mean that it didn't hurt her current patient.

"So, wanna tell me what happened?" she questioned. There was no obligation to do so of course, but curiosity was piqued now that Lana was tending to a blaster wound and had Vess hidden in her home.

She had to smile a bit as Lana was being very gentle with her she almost found it amusing but at the same time enjoyed it, after all, it was much better treatment than Vess was used to. “Don’t worry about hurting me just do what you need to do. And no getting shot hurts far worse.” she simply chuckled a bit before turning a bit so she could look at her own shoulder and watch Lana, work while brown eyes studied her, for unknown reasons Vess felt she could trust her so she would.
“I am a freelance slicer, I work jobs for people who want things and will pay money for it. Some might call me a thief I suppose, I won’t try and say what I do is noble, but it pays the bills. But I may have made a tiny little mistake” she motioned with her other hand just how small it was with her fingers barely touching. “I may have stolen a prototype from one company and sold it to all their competitors…” she cleared her throat “In retrospect, not the wisest decision I have ever made”

---------------------------------

Surprisingly, or perhaps not so much so, this bit of information only seemed to amuse Laneya rather than put her off. Hey, it's not like what she did in the diner was the noblest of deeds. She exploited a Force given talent so that people tipped her more, and while not the same thing Vess was dealing in by far it still wasn't exactly playing by the rules or fairly for that matter. "Hey, whatever pays the bills." the curly haired brunette mused, though the focus of her attention was to making sure the wound in her care was thoroughly cleaned.

"Though I gotta say, credits to pay those bills won't do you a whole lot of good if you're shot full of holes and can't pay them." she did point out, taking only a brief moment to glance at the other girl before Lana went on from cleaning to blaster wound to patching it up instead. "Now don't get me wrong, I'm most definitely not trying to tell you what to do by any means. Just pointing out the clear dangers of double-crossing clients." And yet her tone wasn't scolding, it was still amused.

"Alright, there you go." Lana then let out, and she leaned away from Vess in order to observe her work carefully for a moment, make sure it was done right and would hold. Once satisfied, she nodded and stepped away so that she could start cleaning up what things were used in the process.

She wasn't really sure what she had expected but when Lana didn't give her a disgusted look or even seem to balk at her 'work' she was genuinely surprised, a single eyebrow raised curiously as her own brown eyes looked at hers and she laughed "You know, you're the first person who never immediately condemned me for what I do. That's refreshing" and then she chuckled at the remark about being shot at and spending credits "True, it is kind of hard to spend credits if you're dead. Luckily that was not the end result, thank you for the assistance, by the way, I am not sure I said that yet."
She smiled again and nodded in agreement when she talked about the dangers of double-crossing clients "That is a lesson I learned very well today, and will not be repeating. Sorry again for dragging you into this" she gave a half-smile it was true, but at the same time she met somebody new and interesting "So are you a criminal mastermind as well Lana? What do you do?"

fireflies.png

"Well to be fair, it's not my place to judge anyone. Though honestly I wouldn't have done so harshly if it were." Laneya shrugged a shoulder. "People have to survive, and sometimes you have to do things other people don't approve of to do as such."

It didn't take her long to clean up the small bit of mess she had made in order to get Vess patched up. Once it was all done, she tossed excess in the trash and then set the medkit aside but didn't take it back to be put away for the time being. Instead she took a seat in the only other chair at the table and sighed as she more or less delfated into it.

"A criminal mastermind?" Lana laughed and shook her head. "No, not quite. But," she smirked just a little. "I'm not at all above using my own special quirks to help get extra tips at my tables..." she let out, her smirk broadening just a tad more.

------------------------------

She smiled as Lana explained her views on morality and offending sensibilities and simply nodded "People get a bit too hung up on doing the right things, sometimes you have to look out for yourself first" she laughed along with Lana and the young brunette propped her arm up on the table before resting her chin on her hand as she watched the other woman relax into the chair finally. "Alright so you know my quirk, Im a slicer. What is yours?" brown eyes focused on Lana watching expectantly.

fireflies.png

Her current companion was certainly not wrong there. In this crazy day and age, you most certainly had to look out for yourself. No one else was going to do it - and if they promised to do as such? It was a fleeting promise if it held merit at all. It was a truth Laneya had learned some time ago, and had only been reminded of more than once since.

But she was pulled from her semi-depressing reverie when Vess spoke up again. The curly haired girl made a noise in her throat at the question, and then adjust just a tad in her seat. "My quirk is kind of hard to explain," she answered, her brow creasing just a tad. "I...can manipulate people, with my voice." she supposed that was the best way to describe it. "I had someone tell me it was because of the Force, but they didn't stick around very long for me to learn more, so I don't know how much faith to put into that, really."

---------------------------------

Tag: | Vess Sadragen Vess Sadragen |

Vess had her brown eyes fixed on Lana as if she were hanging upon every word, a small mischievous small forming upon her lips while She explained “With your voice, how does that work? Like a Jedi? How they use the um, feth what do the call it. The force ya thats it, is it that kindof thing?”

She had an absolutely incredulous look of excitement and curiosity about her to the point that had she not been shot earlier Lana probably would have been tackled already “Can i see? Can you show me?”

fireflies.png

The excitement this seemed to drag out of Vess caught Lana off guard. When most people found out about what she could do, and that she could do it to them, they weren't too thrilled. In fact, they tended to start avoiding her. Vess was only one of two people now who actually had a real interest in the knowledge. But eventually her surprise gave way to a smile. "I mean, I don't really know much about the Force stuff, so I'm not sure?" She was supposed to get the chance to learn all about it, but it never came to fruition.

So when the other girl asked about seeing Lana's quirk in action, the curly haired of the pair nodded. "Yeah, alright."

She sat still for a moment, seeming to contemplate and even hummed a few bars as if to try them out for herself rather than putting actual effort into them. But before long her gaze shift back to Vess, and while she didn't outright sing a melody for the moment, she vocalized a soft tune that would have the same melodic effects were she singing to a crowd at the diner.

Whether they drew Vess in or not was of course up in the air, but Lana continued to vocalize the melody regardless.

---------------------

Tag: | Vess Sadragen Vess Sadragen |

Vess simply sat there in her chair watching Lana with anticipation, her eyes watching Lana as the very first few notes left Lana's lips, Vess listened intently for a few minutes as if awaiting some big secret to be revealed or some amazing galactic power to be unleashed. Quite the contrary what she got instead was a gentle, calm and soothing melodic voice that soon had Vess closing her eyes and simply listening to the melody
Vess opened her eyes once more as Lana was still singing a gentle smile on her face, she quickly stood from her chair before she closed the distance between them her right hand went to raise Lana's chin and she leaned in and pressed her lips to hers in the same moment. Although the simple act of this would silence the melody long enough for Vess to be staring into Lana's eyes, her own wide with surprise as she immediately broke off this kiss and her face flushed instantly.
"Uh... um ok, I didn't mean to, wait..." she started throwing out words a mile a minute before her brain slowed down long enough and she caught her breath before shaking her head and clearing her throat. "Um ok, I was not expecting that. Um sorry" her cheeks were a very bright red and she was having a hard time looking at Lana at the moment but otherwise she would be impressed if not terribly mortified at the moment.
