A Tour Of The Sith History

Avery sat in the chair, eyes looking at the cold steel wall of the room that belonged to him. He was aboard the Flagship, waiting. Waiting for a package, an especially important package. Avery, after months of waiting, still had not been given a response from his master. It didn’t really bother him, just a minor announce that would put a damper on his training. All this being said, he had to take matters into his own hands. So he did. From his days as an assassin, Avery had made many friends, a couple of which had worked in the black market business. After making a few calls and detailing the items he required, he had finally found them and placed the orders.

The first item was a book, detailing the sith language and history. The second was a dainty little lightsaber, one that’s origin was unknown. The final item that Avery purchased was a sith holocron, not only was it the last item but also the most expensive, only passing the book’s price by one thousand credits.

The door to Avery quarters slid open and a small floating droid flew in, carrying a plasteel box on a tray that was attached to its front. Avery could only imagined the box contained the items he had bought. The droid lowered it’s tray to the ground, allowing the box to slide off onto the room’s carpet. After which it flew out of the room to carry out it’s other tasks.

Avery kneeled down, unsheathed one of his blades and prayed open the box. The items fell out onto the floor.

The first item Avery found an interest in was the saber. He picked it up, gently, as he did all weapons he came in contact with. He ignited it. The blade flickered for a moment, the blade’s hum coming and going as it did. Avery swung it slowly. It was light, the blade itself didn’t have weight as to be expected. Avery looked at the chair he’s just been sitting in, he raised the saber and hit the chair and…

Nothing… the lightsaber was a training saber, it left only minor scorch marks but nothing serious. That’s disappointing, Avery thought. But it was still a lightsaber.

Avery turned his gaze back to the other items, deciding which he would inspect first.

Avery looked at the book and holocron with equal intent. He picked up the book flipping through the pages then putting it back onto the ground. Avery then picked up the holocron, admiring the brilliant design and intricate detail. But there was something off about the holocron, a weird aching feeling that unsettled Avery, a feeling that Avery imagined he’d never experience. He put the holocron down. He decided he would save the holocron for last, not out of fear but anticipation and… well, also fear. It frightened him, but that was one of the sith’s key elements, fear. So he assumed this was just natural.

Again, Avery scooped up the book and sat down in his chair, that now had a fresh burn mark on it’s side. He opened the book, reading the first page he could find.

It read, “ If you have come here seeking to further your knowledge in the Dark Side, you have chosen a difficult path. A path full of hardship, loss, and fear. You are a sith, one of the strongest Force cults to ever grace the galaxy.” it continued on about the superiority of the sith and how they would win the war for their emperor, “ In this passage you shall learn how the sith manifest their powers of the Force.” the words of the book then instructed that the reader needed to meditate, focus on their hatred and use it to move an object. So Avery did just that.

Avery sat onto the floor, legs crossed. He focused on the one thing that infuriated him the most. His handler from when he was a child, the drug lord that would send him on his murderous adventures, the man that cut him open and put him back together again. He also thought of his parents, people that he had only known for a few years of his life before being sold. He then thought of his sister, the girl he’d never known.

Avery was never good at talking or dealing with his past, perhaps this was good for his training but it only hurt him. The plasteel box began to levitate in the air, churning and cracking, like the emotions that stirred in Avery’s mind. It shattered, breaking Avery’s concentration with it.

Avery looked upon the pieces that littered the floor He’d done it. He had used the Force for something other than enhancing his own ability.

Avery continued to meditate, continuing to lift and move objects with only his power in the Force. He was becoming quite good at it as well.

A few hours later…

Avery was now sitting in his chair, continuing to flip through the pages. He, in all honesty, enjoyed the power of the Force. Not with the same, dark, longing that he had previously possessed. He used it like a youngling would use a new toy, poking and prodding at it, over using it to the point it became a natural part of his life. He still wasn’t a master of course but he was good for the time being, He did find that using his emotions and anger allowed him to use it easily. Perhaps the Dark Side did have it’s perks? Either way, he now knew other basic of the Force... Telekinesis. At the moment, Avery was reading through the sithic book, analyzing everything that caught his eye and seemed important. After reading through the more important sections of the book he turned his attention to the glossary. He looked over the words, the ancient sith language.

He kept reading the translations, Rujas(Greed, Karza(War), Zarchas(Ancient), and Zyemus(Good), followed by other words and sentences. Avery imagined using words like that, he thought that they were far too complex for an actual conversion but somehow the sith race had managed with these words.

The sith were definitely an interesting part of the galaxy’s history, one that Avery found to be mysterious and a worthwhile investment if he ever considered the occupation of historian, but not now in his life. He walked over to the coffee table that had come with the room, he placed the book down with as much care as he could muster, then picked the training saber up again. He ignited it once more, starting an unhealthy amount at the blade. He swung it again, this time with confidence and composure. He twirled it in his hand with much effort, lightsaber weren’t his go to weapon and it certainly showed in his form. He placed it on the coffee table again, next to the book.

He had learned all he needed, at least for now. Avery began to walk towards his bedroom, “You… come here.” Avery swung around to see who was talking to him. “ You seek power? Knowledge, only accessible by… darker means.” Avery saw where the voice had been coming from… the holocron. It was sitting on the table beside the book and saber. “I saw you studying those pages. You wish to know things that others don’t?” Avery nodded, he’d heard legends of triangular and rectangular prisms speaking words that chilled the bones and invoked dark thoughts among those who listened, of course the origin of these tales came from the sith, “ Then embrace your dark path and listen to me.”

Avery kneeled in front of the table, and with an outstretched hand, grazed the holocron with his fingers. Suddenly a light, red as blood and bright as a star, emerged from the holocron, forcing Avery back with it. Avery stood up, looking at what stood in the holocron’s place. A man, wearing a black robe and a red light covering him, it was a hologram. Then he spook.

“Let us begin your path to power.”

“You have questioned ask.” said the dark figure that Avery had assumed was an ancient sith. Avery pointed to his throat, “Ah, you can’t speak. Duobe’ then, I suppose I should introduce myself.” the holographic sith raised a hand to his mouth and coughed, “My name is Darth Mokestros, teacher of Vitiate’s sith empire.” Avery looked at him, confused. Vitiate’s sith empire died out thousands of years ago. that being said, this holocron must be the same age. The hologram’s eyes widened “ Ah, I see. Well, not everything lasts forever. The sith empire was bound to perish someday.” the hologram grew quiet. Avery was surprised. He thought that the Darth would be furious or angry, not solum and without feeling. Darth Mokestros darted his head up suddenly,” there’s no use thinking of the past. Now, shall we begin?”

Avery sat cross legged on the floor, meditating. The training had begun six hours ago, all that time Avery and the ancient sith went over lightsaber combat, use of the Force, and refining what had already been taught.

The rest of the week the sith taught Avery of the dark side and how it was used. Showing true power and how to obtain it. They continued to do this until Avery was called to assist in Operation Dagger.

It was either the grand salvation or desolation of The Corporate Protectorate. Avery found that it really didn’t matter. The Protectorate was a hive of some very clever people and he had no doubt that they’d find a way out of the hole that they find themselves in, if it comes to that. Right now none that really bothered Avery, what he had his mind on was his progression in the Force and how he will continue to go about it with his new “master”, Mokestros. The sith he trained with was an interesting one, that with no doubt had countless stories and tales of the olden days of the sith and republic. Once, Avery asked how he came to be inside the holocron. Well, Avery didn’t ask he thought it and the man picked up the thought. Still, he answered it as any other person would answer a normal question from a student or friend. Apparently, he was seen as a traitor and sentenced to an eternity of imprisonment, this was what it sounded like to Avery, at least.

“Now, my young Apprentice. We shall move on to more complicated subjects of sith hood.” Mokestros, still floating, moving up and down ever so slightly, as always. It had been weeks since Avery last had the chance to speak to his master, due to the recent complications within the Protectorate. With the time that Avery had been gone, he still perfected what he had already learned. And now, Avery was ready to continue with training, growing ever closer to power and supremacy.

The following hours, Avery learned more of the sith history and how to truly harness his emotions to be used as a weapon against his enemies. It was a bit challenging, due to Avery’s lack of emotion but he managed just fine when he found what he could use… his friendship with William Tacer.
