A Song of Smoke

"No, not that. This."

[member="Cait Falcor"] was still half asleep and Irajah tried not to sound too annoyed. But when she had to rewind the video a third time she actually jabbed her finger at the screen.

"There. The truck Cait. Look at the truck. That's a chimera on it. And the company- the company's name is Chimera Holdings. And guess what they deal in? Medical supplies."

Was she grasping? Maybe. But Irajah didn't think so. Her eyes were bright (with both intensity and fatigue), and her hands shook slightly as she started typing rapidly.

"There was some accident. But I bet there's a local police report. I have the date, here, and maybe enough information. I don't know if I can get the info from here. Let me look. We might have to go down to the local precinct. They should be open- they are always-"

The trip to the station was far from helpful initially, especially when they explained what they were looking for. It took some time but they were able to get the initial police report. It seemed that the Chimaera transport vehicle had received some medical waste for disposal from a Spears Facility in New Avalon when they got sideswiped by drunk driver, who later succumbed to the injuries he suffered in the crash while in the hospital later that day.

According to the initial report the shipment was bound for offworld processing and that the police commissioner had declared it an accident and released the truck and its contents later on the same date as well.

"No, shh, Ca- Sentinel. I'll sleep when we get back to the room, I promise. Excuse me, officer? Just two more questions. Can you tell me which hospital the deceased driver ended up at? And do you know *where* off world they were heading?"

Tomorrow, they'd research in to Spears, and maybe make a stop at that hospital. She wanted to know if there had been anything strange about the man's body.

"Hmm.....the location offworld is redacted under the Homeland Securities Act. I can tell you that the driver was taken Morondi General. Now you ladies seem nice so a friendly piece of advice, that place is located on Spears turf and they aren't the kind of folk who take lightly to questions."

Cait Falcor

While Ven questioned the detective, Cait was mostly interested in the huttnoughts, but the servicemen seemed to be keeping a very close guard on them.

She found this frustrating, but something she completely understood.

Ven continued to press the desk-clerk, trying to find out where some stiff had ended up.

Cait looked around. The cops here are tired, but driven. Most of them are running on Caf, and they're spitting witty banter back and forth, but they're clearly on their game. Almost all of them had good kit too. That's a decent blaster.

Then Cait's attention was drawn like a laser to the desk-clerk "...that place is located on Spears turf and they aren't the kind of folk who take lightly to questions."

Cait sidled forward. "What more can you tell me about the "Spears"? Let's assume they want to dance. What kind of kit are we looking at? Numbers? Organization? How do we recognize them? Do they wear a special colour? Continuing this line of question...lets assume we don't want to dance. How do we do that?"

Cait was mildly amused at how rapidly she snapped from focused on shoving huttnoughts into her face as fast as possible, to planning a two woman invasion of known gang territory.

"Are you nuts?" Looking at [member="Cait Falcor"] as if she has lost her mind. "No one wants to dance Spears, not if you want to live to a ripe old age. Relatively small clan but well connected. Most of the time their spokes person issues statement so I guess he runs that group. You best forget about trying to wrangle a dance with those folk, in fact I insist you don't for your own safety."

"They keep to themselves mostly but would appear during local anti Sith demonstrations. They keep mostly to themselves, which is fine by me. "
