A silver sword?

(NPC)

The holo-feed was running rampart and security around the newly appointed vice chancellor had been set on high alert.
Such were the procedures in times of war and now the Republic faced a new threat, from an unexpected enemy to that.

Straightening his back the elderly man cleared his throat and prepared to transmit.

Somewhere, far far away in the galaxy the head of the silver jedi would be on the receiving end.

The emblem of the Galactic Republic on the holodisc would soon fade and the features of the Vice Chancellor appear in its stead. His id would be forwarded to ensure that [member="Thurion Heavenshield"] knew who he was listening to.

"Greetings grand master."
"I hail you in a time of crisis most severe."

"The Republic is under attack from our former allies the Mandalorians. We are uncertain what has caused the aggression but officially it seems to be a corporate plot using the coup of the traitor, our former prime ministers attempted coup."
wetting his lips he continued shaking his head slowly.

"The senate is assembling to vote for our next head of state and mean while my office leads the republic."

"There is reasons to suspect other powers moving behind this, especially with their old enemies the primevil sith being exposed yet not their target."

scratching his chin the vice chancellor pondered a bit. He had tried to figure this out and even though he had an entire stab working with the intel that was presented it felt like they were missing something.

"On the behalf of the republic I therefore extend a word of warning about these perilous events along with a plea for help. Roche is being attacked and your aid would be signaling to the galaxy that the forces of light does not stand alone."

"If you can not provide your sword any means to open diplomatic channels to slow this new threat down or otherwise assist us in defending our territory is most welcome."

"May the force be with you."
he finished, and nodded to the recorder to end the transmission

The news of a planned Mandalorian attack on Republic soil had buzzed around the Assembly all day long. The Coalition was split down the middle when discussions arose concerning who to support, leaving the Grandmaster just as torn. It was late in the evening and all the other members of the Assembly had long since retired to their respective homes and loved ones, all except one. Thurion had remained in his seat, tearing himself apart with arguments trying to figure out a compromise. When the light of the holo-communicator filled the otherwise dark room his head rested in the palms of his hands, wishing he'd gone to bed already yet knowing he'd be unable to sleep had he attempted it.

He didn't react to the likeness of the Republic Vice Chancellor appearing before him other than removing his hands from his face, putting his dishevelled look on full display. "Vice Chancellor," he greeted the man with weak, disinterested voice. Then came their plea for aid, as was expected. But a decision had already been reached this day considering the Mandalorian Offensive, as they'd taken to calling it. Frankly he was sick and tired of it all; the backstabbing politics and sorry state of a galaxy once at peace. By losing himself in the Force he could sense all the suffering and pain caused by neverending war. At times it was difficult not to fall into depression, but thankfully he had friends and family to support him, and so his heart called out to [member="Coci Heavenshield"] for her love.

Still sat in his chair, the Grandmaster began the recording of a reply for the Republic leaders. "Your plea for aid is understandable, Vice Chancellor, and we sympathise with you. But this conflict between you and the Mandalorians is not ours to involve ourselves in. We have allies in both places and are unable to simple discard one in favour of the other. As such we will not fight the Mandalorians on your behalf, and declare ourselves neutral. Why they would choose to attack now, seemingly unprovoked, is beyond me, but their decision-making is not meant for the uninitiated." He paused, taking his time to rise from his seat.

"I will travel to Mandalore in person and advocate for peace. Hopefully the Clans will heed the words of an outsider and acknowledge the greater threat, but the odds are against me in this. Their history with Jedi is long and grim." Thurion then offered whoever was listening a respectful bow. "I wish you well in your struggles. May the Force be with you." As soon as the recording was made, he sunk down into his chair once more. For whatever reason, his eyes filled up with tears and he was unable to staunch their flow as they ran the length of his cheeks. So tired...

She had followed the majority of the members of the Assembly out of the chamber to bid them good night. Coci stood in the door way of the chamber room listening to Thurion speaking, she had not heard the message come through from Jedi Master [member="Mantic Dorn"] but it was easy enough to put the pieces together from Thurion's response. After all the Assembly had gathered to discuss the very issue. As Thurion completed the transmission she walked over to him, hearing the silent call to her through their force bond.

Her hand raised and brushed away a wayward strand of hair that had fallen over his brow. Her finger lightly brushing away his tears that moistened his cheeks and her heart was breaking. Nothing is ever secure in the galaxy, no treaty or alliance even those held to a faction that does not recognise any government, nothing is without politics. "We are damned if we do, and we are damned if we don't", she said in a whisper. "If you are going to speak to the Mandalorians, I will come with you". She would never let her beloved go alone into such a heated meeting as this most likely would be without her by his side for support and what guidance she could provide him. He would feel her inward sigh, so tired are they both .. equally wanting nothing more then to retire from commission.

"I love you", she said as she moved closer and kissed his lips. "I have come to take you home, it is time to rest". As Thurion stood up, Coci took his hand and lead him out of the chambers to find their way to transport back to the Temple.
