Private A Sand-tastic Time

Persephone rolled her eyes at the comment, Iko Vel Iko Vel couldn't see so she felt safe enough to do so. She knew he didn't understand. No one truly did - which is why she really didn't talk about her issues with her father. The trash comment had kind of escaped her, at this point she had been used to being out on these thing alone. Or with people who didn't pay attention to her ramblings. Most people didn't pay attention to students.

Either way, she was going to take the book.

"Bless you." Persephone called out as he sneezed. Who knew what he was doing over across the massive shelves. She had heard some rustling but suspected it was Iko being Iko.

Picking up a few more items, she stopped to listen. Nothing. Well, scurrying of rodents. Yet she didn't trust the silence. This was the surface level. Persie suspected if they went deeper who knew what they would find. She had plans to look around more, just after this. Grabbing a datastick on the ground, she circled backed to the spot where the items would be dumped.

Carefully placing her items on the floor, she stopped to brush dust off her clothing. Getting dirty was still an issue for her, despite slowly improving on that front over the years.

Of course, he hadn't intended to sound as if he was judging her, nor her issues with her faith. If anything, Iko had tried to look at it from a neutral perspective, since from his honest viewpoint, he'd be quite excited to have tales of pirates to read when he was bored. Even if they were probably true stories, that wouldn't stop him from thinking of it as some kind of fantasy adventure...Though his thoughts were abrubtly brought to a stop as he heard the sound of scurrying, and Iko found himself rushing through the dust and shreds of paper to grab his target! A simple...rat.

"Aha! Got'cha. Now...Let's see if this little fella can help lead us to the book..."

Iko stared down at the rat, as it wiggled around in his hand for a moment before slowly starting to settle as it realised that Iko wasn't some kind of predator that planned on making a meal out of the poor thing. Did his plan have any logic to it? Perhaps if he could communicate with animals, or bond with them through the Force...though unfortunately for him, and perhaps Persephone, that was not in his little set of skills.

Persephone was oblivious to Iko Vel Iko Vel and his rat catching. Clearly she heard scuttling, squeaking, and the sound of Iko rustling. Yet she wasn't paying too much attention. The teenager could be busy digging through a filing cabinet and came across a rat nest. Or he could be trying to make a friend. She wasn't entirely sure what was going on and part of her was certain she didn't want to know. The less the knew, the less questions that could be raised later.

Walking away from the small pile she had left, Persie was headed to a databank terminal. There was no longer power to the ruins but that wasn't going to stop her. Not with Zee in tow to provide his own power to glean information off the terminals. Brushing some of the dust away from the screen, she stepped back to allow Zee access.

[ Pray I don't get a disease from these terminals Miss Persephone. ]

"These aren't hookers Zee. I doubt ORC was just letting malware into their systems. Just don't go poking around firewalled areas."

[ I didn't plan on it Miss Persephone. ]

"What is Iko doing over there, do you know?"

[ Catching rodents. ]

"To eat...or...?"

[ Unknown Miss Persephone. ]

Iko had the biggest grin on his face, as he let the rat down on the ground so he could try and follow it towards its nest. Of course, he wasn't sure if rats even had nests, they weren't birds at the day...but they must have tore up some books to make some form of bedding! He was enjoying this quite a bit...Until he heard the comment from Persephone. Asking if he was trying to catch a rat to eat it.

Within the blink of an eye, the grin faded from his face. Did Persephone actually think he'd do something like that? Did she think that little of him? He stood in place for a moment, long enough that even the rat seemed to come back for a moment to see what had happened with the giant that had been chasing it. Nudging against Iko's foot, as if it wanted to get back to playing before Iko snapped back into reality.

"...Come on little guy."

He muttered under his breath, walking after the rat as opposed to running after it, as it lead him through various different bookshelves before climbing up one of them to start tapping at one of the books. Nudging itself and rubbing against the book to make sure Iko could see the book.

"...Think we've found that book thing you were looking for Perse."

Leaning over the data terminal, Persephone was trying to catch snippets of what Zee was downloading. It was going by too fast though, typical of their interactions. Zee would gather pertinent information, download it, then sort it back for her review once their trip was over. A part of the reason she had collected so much from the Ashlan Crusade library before the ransacking of Tython.

About to ask Zee a question, she heard Iko Vel Iko Vel call out about the book. He was somewhere lost in the stacks, voice carrying over.

"I'll leave you to it."

[ Of course Miss Persephone. ]

Leaving the data terminal, she wove through the towering shelves. Eyes spotted books and torn pages along the way. Mentally there was a note to return, even torn pages could prove useful in documenting the site. Carefully she wove through the dust to the teenager, spotting him with the newfound friend he had made. The rat was bouncing around, excited to show off the find. It was adorable in a way. Persephone was used to seeing rodents in the underlevel back on Taris. She had even eaten them before.

Stringy meat, but she wasn't going to share that with Iko.

"A new friend? He or she is kind of cute."

Reaching over the creature, Persephone took the book, hand pushing across the surface to reveal the title. It looked like what they had been after. She carefully turned it over in her hands, checking the binding. It looked like a nice copy, although it was a bit dusty and needed a good restoration.

"I think we've got it."

"Mhm. New friend."

Iko nodded at that, as he let the rat climb up onto his shoulder, little dusty pawprints being left on his clothes. It had managed to do the job that Iko had asked for it, so he wasn't going to pull it off his shoulder. Sure, bringing it with them would cause some issues with him needing to find somewhere to keep the rat. And then getting food, alongside getting it off planet since it could get potentially blown off going back down the steps...

"I suppose we've done everything we need, right? We can head back? Nothing else to look for. Nothing else to talk about."

Another short nod. mostly to confirm it to himself. There wasn't much else they had to go over. At least Iko didn't think so. The wind had been taken right out of his sail. The idea of him harming an innocent creature was something that...hurt him at the end of the day. As much as he tried to act as if he had been more responsible and mature, there was still a part of Iko that was childish. He didn't want to hurt the innocents.

Book in hand, her eyebrow raised. Nothing else to look for? There was always something to look for. Nothing else to talk about? Had they even been talking? Maybe walking up the steps. Iko Vel Iko Vel was being odd towards her and Persephone wasn't sure if she should be surprised. At this point she had given up on trying to figure out the male species. It seemed she was always on a different wavelength in comparison to them. At the ripe old age of sixteen, she had given up on the notion of love or even a close friendship.

There was a lot she could say but in the end, Persephone was quite certain it wasn't worth it.

"You can go back to the ship if you'd like."

Without another word, Persie left him alone. There were still bits of paper to collect and other things she could scavenge. Plus, she had plans to walk around the ruins and the facility to see what else was out there. Never knew if someone left a journal in a room or a datastick on a bunch of crates. Plus, if she came all this way she was going to spend time looking around.
