Private A Remedy for Boredem

The Prosperity
M977SXg.png

The healers were still adamant on keeping her on the Prosperity, not quite satisfied with her progress with physical therapy. And…it might also have something to do with how notoriously stubborn the redhead Padawan was known to be. But the Healer’s word was law, and Katherine was ‘forbidden’ from taking trips off the ship.

It wasn’t as though the Prosperity was lacking in different places to go. But Katherine was already growing tired of being stuck in what was effectively a spacefaring metal box; albeit a very big and fancy one. She had just spent time in another metal box, being tortured. Though fortunately, the company on this one was far more pleasant in comparison.

Katherine let out a tired sigh.

The Padawan yearned to go somewhere else, but for now that was an impossibility. She needed to find something to occupy her mind, something to do that was fun and enjoyable. Or maybe just someone to talk to that might lead to some kind of mischief.

But Katherine didn’t know who was even onboard currently, who she could potentially run into. Or well…bump into to be more accurate, as she rounded a corner and almost ran her hoverchair into a fellow Padawan.

This place is massive.....

The Jedi padwan thought as he moved from one hall to another, one part of the vessel to the other. Aiden merely investigating and exploring to be quite honest. This was his first time here so he figured he would make the best of it, learn as much as he could. Studying this vessel as if it was a book he was reading in the Jedi archives. The more he explore he made a point that he would have to check in here more often. There was already much he wanted to do, however he couldn't stay to long otherwise he wouldn't leave.

The Padawan turned a corner and his mind just swirling with ideas, thoughts and the like. He totally didn't seen Katherine Holt Katherine Holt rounding the corner. She was in a hoverchair and his reaction was just enough to move out of the way but how he maneuvered by the end he fell on his back. He showed a small grimace due to the pain from hitting the floor, that then subsided after a few moments.

"Hello there, Padawan Porte at your service." The Jedi responded with a small wave and apologetic smile from the floor, he slowly moved to get up.

"Are you okay?"

Katherine bit down on her tongue, stopping herself from audible cursing. realising too late her mistake and quite literally ramming into someone. In part because she didn’t want to swear near any of the younger students, but also because the sudden collision had jostled her legs. Both of which were still feeling sore from her therapy session a couple hours back.

"Are you okay?"

The redhead had an almost incredulous expression, looking down at the Padawan she had hit. “Am I okay? Are you okay? I just rammed right into you.” To a point of being able to knock him over even.

Katherine shook her head, moving her chair around so she could reach out and help Aiden onto his feet. She might not be able to use her legs right now, but Katherine could still use her arms.

My apologies, Padawan Porte. I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going.” She let out a sheepish chuckle. “I’m Padawan Holt, but just call me Katherine. I-” The redhead paused as she looked at Aiden’s face. “Wait, weren’t we just recently in a class together?

Am I okay? Are you okay? I just rammed right into you.
My apologies, Padawan Porte. I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going.
I’m Padawan Holt, but just call me Katherine. I-

Aiden shook his head and waved her apology off. "Nonsense I'm the one that's in the rush. Just trying to get a good layout of this place." He held his hand out to her as she helped him to his feet. "Thank you again, and trust me its no bother at all."

He would definitely need to be careful from here on out. Aiden did not want to pry into her injury or whatever it was. He was just glad that he didn't knock her out of her hover chair. That would've been incredibly hard for him to let go. He'd be apologizing many times over and probably bringing her treats and such for the rest of the week as an apology.

Wait, weren’t we just recently in a class together?

He noted her pause in her sentence prior and he glanced at her for a few brief seconds studying her face and then the light went on.

"Oh yes of course! Katherine! I remember you, I was the one complaining about the missing cookies." The Padawan chuckled slightly and then he remembered more from the lesson and it cause him to laugh even more.

"That was probably the most peculiar class I've ever partaken in."

Katherine Holt Katherine Holt

The redhead’s eyes lit up in recognition, immediately remembering the class the second Aiden mentioned cookies. The entertaining scenario she got entangled in with Carlo and Sazo. And of course, there was no forgetting the conversation she could overhear with the group Aiden had been a part of.

The lesson about Form Zero, with Master Calder.” It was one of the first classes she had attended after being allowed out of the Medical Bay. And by the Force was she glad it had been, as the class had been immensely helpful in lifting her spirits.

Aiden’s comment about it elicited a small laugh from Katherine. “Won’t be the last, that I can assure you. Especially when it’s one of the ‘on the spur’ lessons.” A particular moment struck the redhead, and she looked at her fellow Padawan, amusement clear in her eyes.

Weren’t you at one point asking your classmates to smell your breath?

"That's right!" Aiden eyes lit up when he realized and started giggling. Remembering the group that he was with and all of the shenanigans' that went with that lesson. He wondered if it could even be called a lesson truly. He wasn't sure what was learned from that class, but he did meet some new people and make some more friends in the process.

So all in all it wasn't too bad.
Won’t be the last, that I can assure you. Especially when it’s one of the ‘on the spur’ lessons.
Weren’t you at one point asking your classmates to smell your breath?

Aiden laughed even more at what she said and he shrugged his shoulders. "Well, maybe. I just didn't want to feel left out." The Padawan said jokingly as he rubbed his chin lightly. "It was actually Anneliese that inquired about smelling Aris's breath." Aiden said diverting the attention as he wasn't the only one. He smiled internally at the whole grouping that took place, they were good people.

"Despite all the strangeness, that was a good day." He said with a big smile, and he glanced up and down the hallway, just to ensure they were impeding anyone's course. "How are you doing today? What's on the agenda?" Aiden asked curiously.

Katherine shook her head, a smile on her face. That whole class almost felt like a fever dream. But it had proved to be insightful on what Master Calder had intended on teaching those that had attended. The scenarios thought up during that class were varied, much like how they could be out there in the galaxy.

"Despite all the strangeness, that was a good day."

It was a good day indeed.” She replied, nodding in agreement. For Katherine specifically, it was refreshing to be around people again, and not cooped up in either a bacta tank or a medical bay cot.

Speaking of…

Well, I’ve no longer got healers hovering over me like a flock of Mykal, so I’m doing fantastic.” She wasn’t really, but her mood had at least been marginally approving since being discharged.

Katherine thought of Aiden's last question, realising she didn’t really have a destination in mind. “Not sure really, I was just trying to find something or someone to occupy my mind.” Being stuck in the medical bay would drive anyone crazy after a while.

Maybe explore the Prosperity?

Well, I’ve no longer got healers hovering over me like a flock of Mykal, so I’m doing fantastic.

Aiden nodded his head as he glanced at the hover chair. He didn't want to pry, as it was none of his business. However curiosity got the better of him.

"Forgive me for asking, but what happened exactly?" The Padawan asked curiously, he wouldn't push the issue if it was something that she didn't want to discuss. He would completely respect that decision.

Not sure really, I was just trying to find something or someone to occupy my mind.
Maybe explore the Prosperity?

"It's a good thing I collided into you then." Aiden said with a small laugh, and he glanced down the hallway. "In truth, I'm partially lost here. Probably would've been for a while as I wasn't planning on asking for any help with directions. I can be quite stubborn that way." Aiden rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.

"But if I can provide some company for you, perhaps we can explore the prosperity together. I'm sure there is something we can find to occupy our time." Aiden offered his arm to her, as if he was going to be an escort for her, in truth she would be escorting him more than anything. Offering his arm was just a way of him being polite and silly as well.

"Forgive me for asking, but what happened exactly?"

The question immediately had Katherine fidgeting, instinctively tugging at the sleeves of her tunic, trying to hide the lightning scars that could be seen spreading out across her hands.

Let’s just say…I got on the wrong side of the Dark Empire’s Intelligence.

And that was all the redhead was going to say, she certainly didn’t feel like elaborating any further. But she had a feeling it wouldn’t take much for Aiden to put two and two together. It just wasn’t something she was ready to talk about right now. Maybe sometime after she could have a decent night’s sleep without any nightmares.

Maybe…

Though the Padawan’s mood did shift when Aiden spoke of getting lost. Eliciting a small laugh from Katherine. “Oh tell me about it, I thought the temple on Coruscant was bad enough. But the Prosperity feels at least twice the size.

She smiled as Aiden held out his arm for her. While it wasn’t really necessary given her current physical handicap, the gesture was appreciated all the same.

And as the pair set off to explore, an idea suddenly struck the redhead. “You know, I heard that somewhere on this ship is an arboretum.

Let’s just say…I got on the wrong side of the Dark Empire’s Intelligence.

"I'm sorry to hear that. However I am glad you are back and safe." Aiden said with a small smile. He took knew the risks of such actions, he thought back to Hapes, Coruscant and Tython.

Dangerous times.

Oh tell me about it, I thought the temple on Coruscant was bad enough. But the Prosperity feels at least twice the size.
You know, I heard that somewhere on this ship is an arboretum.

"No kidding?!" The Jedi padawan said with a laugh. The Temple on Coruscant was more than enough, and now this enormous ship meant to house the galaxy it seemed like. Perhaps he exaggerated a bit, but it sure seemed that way.

"An arboretum?" Aide glanced her way before looking forward again. "Really? We should definitely go and find it." Aiden's inner calm and love for nature side was showing as he appreciated gardens as much as the next botanist did.

Really, I didn’t quite believe it myself.” She said, letting out a small chuckle. “But then given the size of this place, it wouldn’t shock me if they had an area for almost everything."

Katherine smiled as they made idle chatter, making their way through the halls of Prosperity. Though on a couple occasions, they did have to stop someone to ask for directions. Prosperity as a vessel was truly vast, and it was no wonder someone could get last in the maze of hallways and elevators.

But eventually they found themselves on the right set of hallways, heading towards the arboretum. As they did though, a question stirred to the surface of the Padawan’s thoughts.

Forgot to ask; I always do whenever I meet someone new, how did you end up becoming part of the Order?

But then given the size of this place, it wouldn’t shock me if they had an area for almost everything."

"I couldn't agree more. I feel like it would take at least a few weeks to actually fully explore and take in everything this vessel has to offer. Can you imagine being the pilot?" Aiden thought with a small smile, he couldn't imagine. He was for all purprose, a very terrible pilot. He was just glad what he lacked in his pilot skills he made up for in some of his jedi abilities.

And perhaps his wit as well.

Forgot to ask; I always do whenever I meet someone new, how did you end up becoming part of the Order?

"I didn't actually join the order until I was like fourteen years old. My father and mother are both Jedi and we tended to travel quite a bit. We spent time with the Silvers, and several others before we finally went back home to Naboo. Then that was when the Cataclysm happened, there was a big cleanup and restoration job to do. It wasn't too long after that I joined the Jedi Order."

Aiden said with a small smile.

"What about you?"

The mention of the ‘Silvers’ caught Katherine’s interest. She had heard about the Order from her random research early into her training. It fascinated Katherine that there were over Jedi groups out there in the galaxy. Which ultimately led her down a rabbit hole of trying to learn why, whether it was over ideological differences and so on.

Looking back on it, she wondered if that had been the igniting spark for her desire to explore and visit different cultures.

"What about you?"

It’s…a bit of a long story,” Katherine started with a chuckle. “Suffice to say, I was in a bad spot; escaped from a bad place, lost in the middle of nowhere until the Alliance found me. Almost ended up in an SIA cell until Master Kahlil swooped in and took me under his wing.
