A Prospective World

Voph shook his head. "I am afraid I do not. I...have been away for some time. I have not had the pleasure of becoming acquainted with anyone who might be of use to you."

He turned, and began to pace again. "The men and women I learned from...are all dead. And...while they served my purposes well enough... I cannot say I would have recommended them to you. After all, we were at war. No time for...artists....thinkers..dreamers...just weapons." He seemed distant. Thinking back on old events. In fact, it almost seemed that he...missed it. The war. "War is all I have ever known. Struggle after struggle, conflict after conflict."

He turned to look at [member="Mira-Jin Keen'v"] again. "Otherwise I would offer my own tutelage. For all the good it's done anyone..."

Mira would have a distinct look in her eyes.. Feeling somewhat of a compassion for this man, even though he seemingly missed war, there was no shame in that.. There is no shame in the struggle of the soldier to want to continue fighting. Nevertheless Mira being a pacifist did have a distaste for war.. what her real distaste was for the reasons it was fought, not of the men and women who fought it. The soldiers journey to her was simply the struggle of the simple man compared to the struggle of the office general which was the struggle of a man who knew he could never be hurt. Likewise she listened back in to @Voph "Well.. Could you teach me.. maybe just the simple things, like.. How to wield a light saber, or how to use simple abilities in force" She would ask with her young fire inside, wanting to learn, wanting to explore, wanting to grow in this new art which seemed.. in reaching distance to her.

Voph remained neutral for a moment. Then, the hint of a smile began to creep into the corners of his mouth. A genuine smile. "The lightsaber. My oldest friend..." He drew the silver hilt from his belt, and held it in both hands looking at it almost how a parent would look at a newborn child. "For years I was an artisan. Designing and selling the blades of war... " He smiled. Not the forced polite smile he'd offered Mira upon his arrival. A genuine smile. And for a moment, his face shone with a warmth that had nearly been forgotten. He contemplated the blade silently for a moment, his face slowly fading back to a neutral expression.

"To wield one is no small feat. To fight with one...An impressive display of prowess." He looked up from the blade, his blind gaze focused on Mira. "To master the lightsaber..." He shook his head. "..Legendary." His brow furrowed, studying Mira's figure quietly. "An unparalleled defense, so much as it is the pinnacle of weaponry." He smiled again, softer this time. "I suppose I could teach you what I know. But, it is no easy task." Voph clipped the lightsaber back to his belt. "For if you are to truly learn to master the blade...you will have to make one of your own."

[member="Mira-Jin Keen'v"]

"If you can teach me.. Well, I'm no fighter so it will be difficult.. But I'm willing to learn, and if you're willing to teach me I will do anything to learn, I will master this skill, no matter what." And with that statement she was right.. She would master it, while she was before stating the truth with the fact she was no fighter as.. she had never taken any classes in martial arts, one thing she was.. was an excellent student, and an academic. She never gave up on anything she set her mind to.. when she wanted to learn, she learned, and when she wants to learn how to fight with a saber.. she will learn.

"Well.. If you're going to teach me" She would look up to her new found friend, and possible master with a smile as he had ignited a childhood passion of her that had burnt out over these years, the wish to learn the force, and master the blade "If.. you're going to teach me, when will we start?" She would smile as she finished her sentence, looking to [member="Voph"] with a more genuine smile than that of before.

Voph chuckled. He looked down at his lightsaber again, then withdrew it from his belt. He held it upside down, the pommel pointed towards the ceiling. "Only a fool would see this as a weapon, and nothing more." He smiled grimly. "Think of it...not as fighting, but as an art. An...expression of one's self."

Voph fell silent for a moment, contemplating the hilt. He reached up and wiped a smudge off of the handle. "This blade has served me well for many decades. Forged during the Dread War...the first lightsaber I ever made..." He looked up at Mira. "I had hoped to give it to my son. But..." He left the thought unfinished, instead stepping forward and extending his hand to offer it to Mira, pummel first. "Treat it well, and it will serve you until the day comes when you are ready to forge your own."

She would grab the saber, taking it for herself. "Are you sure..?" She knew not to ask about his son, after, the signals he gave off. Moreover, she began inspecting the new lightsaber, checking over its every design.. as she had never seen a lightsaber before in her life, only designs from pictures in which she studied. Though she would look up, confused. "Are you sure you want to give me your lightsaber.. It's a personal tool" She would say as she placed the lightsaber at her personal hilt. Along with that something in which [member="Voph"] had said earlier finally made sense, and is what really confused her.

"The dread war..?.. I learned about that in my Early History studies on Coruscant. How was it forged.. back then, has this lightsaber been passed down through the years?" She would ask, thinking it was simply a tool passed down through the years, from family member to family member. Nevertheless she didn't bother thinking more of it, only intrigued of the lightsabers age.

Voph shook his head, folding his hands behind his back. He stepped towards the window, pausing in front of it as he looked out, expanding his vision to soak up the sights below. "No...It's mine. Or...was." He turned his head in what a human might call a sidelong glance towards Mira. "Now it's yours." He turned his gaze back towards the window, falling silent for a long moment. "The history books only tell you so much. The authors...Well...they speculate on a lot. They never tell you how it really was. The fighting...the heat...gods, the smell... But they never mention the fear." Voph turned to look at Mira.

"To look at the men and women around you, knowing deep down that no one's coming for you. You're all alone. Trying to maintain resolve...but seeing the fear in your men's eyes that drives a man insane." Voph walked back to the chair on the other side of the desk, and sat down heavily, picking up his glass of wine and draining it in a single long gulp. He was quiet for a moment, gaze focused on the window. He glanced back at Mira. "The Dread War changed many of my opinions on war. Not a soul went on to that cursed battleground and left unchanged." He sighed, and shook his head. He rubbed his forehead as if nursing a headache. "Ah, but enough of decrepit old men reminiscing on their youth." He looked back to Mira and smiled softly. "I made a promise to someone. A promise I intend to keep. If you wish for me to train you, your highness, then I shall do so. To the best of my ability."

"Thank you sir.." She would smile, wielding the saber and focusing on the hilt. Wielding the saber was simply an honor for her, the pleasure to be able to wield such an item, a Lightsaber.. One day, she'd construct one of her own, however for today simply wielding this lightsaber was enough for her. A Dream accomplished, the characters from her story books, the stories of the Jedi Knights her mother had read to her, she Held the Light saber like them.. ignoring the fact this saber specifically was a sith's originally, the fact she held a Lightsaber enchanted her.

She looked to [member="Voph"] with the look of somebody ready to learn no matter what the cost in time, money, and strength.. She wanted to learn how to wield the weapon and how to use the force abilities in which she had always wanted to learn about.. so she only had one question in mind, "When do we start..?" She asked voph with a passion in her eyes, and the readiness to accomplish anything.

Voph pushed himself to his feet, setting the now empty glass of wine on the desk. "I'm afraid that I cannot prolong my stay. Not this time. Brelor has been keeping me quite busy of late. As well as the preparations for the launch of Octarchy's flagship. There are several other worlds I must assess, meetings to oversee...trade deals to conduct..." Voph sighed quietly. "Run." He cracked a wry smile as he chuckled quietly. "Just...run while you can before all this..." He gestured vaguely about the building, "Becomes your problem."

He turned to Mira, his back straightening somewhat as he regained his posture. His voice fell back to the practiced, crisp accent most commonly found in Imperial space, and his tone became more formal. "I will be in touch regarding the...initiation of our venture here. The gates of Brelor are always open to our allies. Should you need our assistance, do not hesitate to call." He paused for a moment, then said, "Though as a matter of fact, I do intend to host a gathering to celebrate the launch of the Arbitration. To be on Brelor, soon as the ship is completed. As the sole other supporting world, you are welcome to send a delegation, if you wish." He offered a quick bow. "But for now, I must depart. I will return when I can to assist you in your studies."

She smiled, the feeling of meeting this new found friend was a great one to say the least. And the gift in which he had given her was something she would always treasure until well.. He would return it back when she was ready to make her own. Nevertheless this encounter was one she would remember for the rest of her life, truly she had made a great friend on this day, one that she would be able to live with for he rest of her life. Moreover she looked back up to her guest who was preparing to make his leave, laughing at all the jokes he made.. genuinely finding them funny.. and genuinely entertained by everything in this encounter..

With a moment of genuine compassion Mira would walk over to [member="Voph"], hugging him for a quick moment as he had genuinely made her happy."Well, I must get back to my work in that case.." She would walk over to her desk sitting back in the chair and getting onto her data-pad preparing to send of the news to the Donian Governmental congress. "When will your flagship be.. launched? I would love to visit during its first voyage." She would say while having her head down in the data-pad already delving into her work. "Along with that, when will you.. be able to start our studies..? Just for a time reference... Actually, you can get back to me on that don't worry about it.. You have something more important to deal with" She would say before smiling and gesturing a goodbye wave with a tender smile on her face.. As she had truly met somebody nice today in her work. These encounters are what made her love her job.

Voph...froze. That was the best word for it. The most visible indicator was the sharp inhale as Mira approached him and...hugged him. He appeared relatively calm, but...it was easy enough to see that it had shaken him. Voph never had been a hugger. He remembered his wife had always teased him about it. Sovryn. Why did he always remember that name when he thought of her? Voph cleared his throat, forcing himself back to the present. "Ahem...We...we intend to launch by the end of the month. Assuming nothing goes wrong."

He stepped back almost instinctively as Mira disengaged from the hug. "As for your studies...we might could find time for a lesson when you visit Brelor. If not, I'll arrange time to return to Donus." Voph offered her another bow, and turned to leave. He paused in the door way, and turned to look over his shoulder. "And...in the mean time, work on that...parlor trick. Extra credit if you can move the desk by our next meeting."
