The fight was finished, the Alliance was on the retreat, and the clean-up forces were below. Quinn had found solace in the personal vessel her birth parents had used to burn the galaxy in their conquest. It was something special, knowing that her birth mother had once stood where she did, watching the Empire below - her Empire conquer the worlds in her name. Closing her eyes, she let the Force open around her; she felt Kaila near while Eira was somewhere else - resting.

Both had fought hard, but that sinking feeling she had the moment she had lost her connection to Kaila scared her. Quinn was prepared to burn Woostri until nothing was left of its surface. She was ready to burn and consume the galaxy with all her might. Quinn didn't want to know a moment or a reality without her Knight.

Moving from the viewport, she acknowledged the crew flying the ship back to Jutrand. They were loyal to her, faithful to her family, and now loyal to the Empire. The doors to the bridge closed behind her, and the woman walked down the long corridor, the white robe flowing behind her. Quinn placed her finger on the keypad and entered the entrance code, but the room was hidden from the rest of the ship. Here, she had heard tales of her mother commanding entire fleets through her mind, organizing them and keeping them in sync.

A smile crept over her face as she entered a large meditation sphere, a black metal throne in the center. It was the throne that belonged to an Empress - where she sat and ruled her Empire with a beskar fist. Quinn tightened the robe around her slender frame, her bare feet padding against the cold floor. Taking each step towards the throne, she slowly turned and sat herself upon it. A smirk spread across her face as Quinn leaned into the large seat, her legs crossing and the loose robe hanging off her lithe body. One arm rested on the rest, her head resting in her palm as she watched the door as the thin silver crown on her head caught the room's light.

She reached out to the Knight through the Force, summoning her to the hidden room. She could feel the woman's need to speak, something weighing on her mind, and Quinn wondered if it had to do with what occurred on the surface of the conquered planet. As she waited, Quinn stared down at her hand, her recently manicured nails fixed from the fight. She thought quietly about her feeding; the Jedi's force energy had given her more than she thought - something pure about the Light satiated her.

Again, she felt the Force, searching for her blood. Colette had survived—it was unfortunate—but knowing this only made the Echani Princess smile. Her thoughts faded from the Jedi as she longed for her beloved Knight.

Kaila gave the medbay one last look.

Her apprentice had been separated and injured during the battle, but Tamsin Graves Tamsin Graves was recovering quickly, all things considered. They'd spoken earlier, of her concern first and foremost, and of her experiences thereafter. But it had been a long day for them both, and so they'd since agreed to retire for the evening.

And so Kaila bid her good night and left, swiping a bacta patch on her way out to swap for the one applied over her broken nose. Her steps were heavy, metallic, despite her bare feet and ladylike image all wrapped in her silken cloak as she made for her chambers.

Tamsin, Eira, and Quinn's shift in demeanor had all given the young Darth much to consider. They had won, Woostri lie in ruin, it's Jedi defenders routed and bleeding.

But at what cost?

She would have liked to celebrate victory with them. Now she wondered if the doctors would even allow her to bring her apprentice the wine, or perhaps second legion mead. So instead, approached her quarters for the night.

Then came to a stop.

A familiar, gentle probing of the mind caused the Knight to glance over her shoulder, and despite everything, smile just a little. There was at least one soul left awake to speak with.

She entered the chamber minutes later, casting a curious gaze about the secret room she may not have found were it not for the princess, whom she found sitting atop her midnight throne. Crowned in echani silver no less. It suited her. Suited her future station, one the knight had accepted in her heart even now.

"
Quinn." she smirked, wondering what little schemes were afoot in that crowned head this time.

Kaila took the echani's hand in her own, gently tracing the palm with her thumb.

"
...love."

Kaila had arrived faster than she had expected. Smiling, the woman walked in, her steps silent and dangerous. There was a reason that the woman had been assigned to be her guard, a reason beyond her undying loyalty and love. Kaila was a warrior, one who proved herself constantly. Quinn tilted her head as her lover took her hand; the gentle touch contradicted her ferocity in battle.

As the woman approached, her breath hitched. The power Kaila's mere presence had over the Echani drove her insane. With every step, Quinn felt her heart beat against her chest harder and harder. The Princess was weak as she found herself craving the closeness only the woman could provide. Yet there were other things they needed to address.

"You found me quicker than I thought," Quinn mused as she turned her hand, letting their fingers lace. Her gaze trailed from Kaila's bright eyes, trailing down her face, watching her lips and then down her body. Quinn stopped at the laced hands, taking the unsaid words in through their touch. Kaila had gotten better and more precise with her intent. "You have something on your mind." Quinn pointed out, her voice still soft while her eyes caught the endless pools of gold belonging to her lover. At first, the woman caught whispers of concern about Tamsin, Kaila's apprentice. Quinn thought quietly about Eira; she would have to give the girl special attention when she eventually awakened.

The Echani continued to think quietly as she searched for where Kaila's concern lay. It came with the following gentle caress, "Me?" Her eyebrows rose slightly, not understanding why the woman would worry about her. But she knew the events that occurred on Woostri would upset anyone. Slowly, the small Echani stood, her height evident without her usual heels. She released Kaila's hand and reached for her beloved Knight's face. Yes, the blonde's concern had its focus, and Quinn wanted to calm her mind the best she could.

Slender fingers slowly caressed the woman's face, her touch light-like air against the Vahal's freckled skin. "My Love," the word tightened her chest. It came so naturally—to call the woman something so possessive and beautiful. It had been some time since she had called someone love. Quinn loved it, knowing that word meant the woman in front of her.

The oversized robe hung off her shoulders, showing the gown underneath. "I'm safe because of your efforts." Her thumbs caressed the woman's face as she pulled it gently towards her. Standing on the tips of her toes, she pressed her lips gently against the blonde's. It was a gentle kiss meant to comfort the woman so she could have some reprieve from her constant concern. Gently, Quinn let her hands fall and wrap around the Vahla woman, her head resting gently against her chest. The steady beat of the woman's heart brought the Echani a comfort only a lullaby could.

"I love you; tell me what is on your mind?"

"Well, you always had a way of drawing me in."

Her teasing was gentle, a near whisper in that dimly lit chamber. But of course Quinn could see through any banter, no matter how true, and though remnants of her smile lingered as their fingers intertwined, Kaila knew she'd have to give answer the Echani soon enough.

It came with the following gentle caress, "Me?"

"Many things, though you are always chief among them."

Some would say too many. War, protecting her, liberating Tamsin of her wraith, Echnos, her former master, so many things and they
never stopped. Not unless she was with her, Alone, in these quiet moments.

She leaned into her lover's gentle caress, hands warm against her bruised face. Her eyes closed, and she sighed tiredly, but contently.

"My Love," the word tightened her chest. It came so naturally—to call the woman something so possessive and beautiful. It had been some time since she had called someone love. Quinn loved it, knowing that word meant the woman in front of her.

The oversized robe hung off her shoulders, showing the gown underneath. "I'm safe because of your efforts."

Love.

It was the first they'd gotten to speak the words aloud since donning their rings.

She smiled, and opened her eyes. Half lidded, they widened ever so slightly, taking in the woman's silken gown. It felt almost strange to see her in something other than battle robes or a teacher's garb. Gods know Quinn must have thought the same of her more than once.

It seemed they brought out the best, most human things in one another. And the worst.

Though Kaila smiled softly through their kiss, leaning even further down into her beloved princess' embrace, the ever dutiful "protector" could not shake the memory of the lengths Quinn had gone to in protecting her, and avenging her when she'd seemed lost to the living world.

"I love you; tell me what is on your mind?"

"I..." Kaila swallowed her hesitance.

"
I know you drained our foe of the force."

"
And I know what this power does to those who wield it." her voice became a choked whisper.

"
Darth Keres forbade it of me when I studied at Yalara long ago. Warned me of the hunger, and how it... it changed people."

She gently squeezed the echani's shoulder, but her lips twisted bitterly, as her gaze squeezed shut and dropped blind to the floor.

"
My apprentice is already losing herself, I can't lose-"

Her grip tightened, only enough that an echani would notice.

"
Tell me that was still you fighting."

"
Please."

Kaila asked Quinn a question that she had hoped she wouldn't ask. She hadn't expected to use the Force drain, but she did it on instinct. The Princess wanted to kill the Jedi, which Quinn believed took Kaila from her. The hug tightened as Quinn listened to the woman explain why she was scared of the power that the Princess had used.

The hunger. Quinn knew the hunger well; they were old friends, and she sighed softly, nestling into Kaila. The question the woman asked hung in the silent air, thickening it till it - like the Force, consumed. "You won't lose me." Quinn's voice cut through as she reassured her lover. Everything would come to this eventually, and Quinn would need to explain the powers she had displayed on the Woostri surface. They were why the rebels on Susevfi cherished their anti-force weapons. Their reason was to make sure the witch was contained.

Pulling back slightly, Quinn looked up at Kaila, letting her hazel eyes take in the sight of her broken Knight.

Her face softened as she caressed Kaila's, seeing the pain this was all causing her. It was time to explain things—to make her the one other person who knew.

"I am the hunger." Quinn let her hand fall as she pulled away, letting the robe fall and cascade on the stairway to the throne. "I was born with it; it's why I was allowed to live." Fingers trailing her parents' throne, one that both had sat upon to command legions for the Empire. A part of her hated them for the choices they had made to conceive her, while another knew it was necessary.

"My parents couldn't conceive naturally like most parents. So, instead, they looked to the Force. My birth mother was like me, forced born and created in the same fashion they chose to make me and my twin sister, Noelle." Quinn circled the throne, imagining the way Ashin would have commanded, the ruthlessness she was known for as Darth Desimus - yet her First Apprentice, Spencer Jacobs - only knew her kindness. The tale of her parents changed from Empire to Empire, but there was always one constant.

Together, they were powerful.

"Midichlorian Manipulation. It was something created by Darth Plagueis. The Sith obsessed with creating life and living forever." Quinn found herself leaning back into the throne once she sat upon it. Her legs crossed delicately as she looked towards her lover. "Using this method, they created my sister and me - unfortunately for the number of times Ashin, my other mother, had changed bodies - not picking perfect clones that had the same force energy as herself, there were faults." Quinn let her gaze on Kaila briefly until she couldn't bear to see how her face would change with the next part of the story. "Both my parents were Jedi, Ashin a former Shadow in a sense and Spencer a padawan. Falling victim to an attack, Ashin was poisoned, unable to touch the light anymore. She trained in the dark side and became who she was known as in the Empire. She trained Spencer, a strong mentalist who could command armies from the depths of her mind. Together, they were powerful - but not enough to keep their children alive."

The Princess was visibly uncomfortable, and through their bond, Kaila would feel this was a part that Quinn hated knowing about herself. It was a choice she had no input in making - but without it, she wouldn't have lived. Her voice cracked as she spoke, "Noelle was stronger, demanding more of my mother. She was suffocating me in the womb, destroying me, consuming me before I could even breathe." Anger seethed from behind her teeth. It was hard not to dislike her sister; from conception, her sister had tried to snuff her out.

"They couldn't do anything - they didn't have enough strength to fight with me to live. It's when they decided to shove the horror into me. An endless supply of the dark side into a child, giving that child a chance to live. The Phobis device's force energy was fused to mine. I grew into it, having it protecting me from my sickeningly light-sided sister." Quinn chewed on her thumb as she thought. The phobis device was like the beating heart in her chest. It was as a part of her as her blood and flesh were. There was no getting rid of it, no losing its power - she could only it.

"The hunger is the device. The hunger is something I've felt since the moment I could breathe. I feel it even now, but" Quinn looked at Kaila from the corner of her eye. "This Darth Keres, she's not wrong. The hunger consumes and becomes all that a Sith can think about. They lose everything that they are and cease to exist outside of that hunger. To control it is impossible."

Quinn adjusted in her seat, a small smile cracking at the corner of her lips. "Unless you're like me. I have never fed on another person before, but I knew the moment I did, things would change, but I'll always be me - I won't let it control me." Quinn sighed. The hunger was there, wanting more from the Jedi, but her resolve had trained for this—to keep it at bay and to remain herself.

"I did it because I thought I had lost you. The moment I no longer felt your mind or heard your heartbeat through our connection, I lost control. I wanted to destroy the Jedi that took you from me." Even now, knowing that the creature still breathed the air around her - infuriated the Princess. "I was going to take everything from her as she had taken from me and then rip through Chaos to retrieve you."

A fist rested against the angered Echani, her chest rising and falling with her hatred for the Jedi. "No one is allowed to take you from me," Quinn locked eyes with Kaila, an air of dominance and possession breathed around her.

"Because you're mine."

Kaila her arm around Quinn's shoulder in a possessive embrace.

She trusted her with a great many things, but so many people had promised not to leave. Not to abandon her. Not to die. People could be honest, she knew that now, but fate cared little for oaths.

"I am the hunger." Quinn let her hand fall as she pulled away, letting the robe fall and cascade on the stairway to the throne. "I was born with it; it's why I was allowed to live."

Her brows rose a little. It was always a sight to behold when her princess spoke boldly or took charge, as was the sight of her in that enchanting nightgown. She could almost picture her ascending to the kyber throne of Jutrand now.

Which hunger was greater? Quinn's for the force, or Kaila's for her, and that future together?

Kaila couldn't even think to hide her rose tinged face as she stood there motionless, gaze following the princess who circled her throne like a shark laying claim to it's hunt.

Then she said it.

"
Midi- ?" her lips pursed and eyes widened in shock.

The lost art of Plagueis the Wise. The last time a living being had been created in this way, the force punished his creators. Rumor had it The Chosen One was born that day, or so she'd heard.

Quinn sat the throne then, looking every bit the queen—empress—that she was.

But the story she told was far from the beautiful, graceful life she deserved. Kaila found herself ascending the steps in slow, subconscious steps, silken cloak dropping from her shoulders. She needed to be with her empress, to cherish and embrace her. To be anything better than what had been inflicted upon her love.

Her features tightened at the word 'jedi' but more than that it was their irresponsibility she took issue with. Her sister however, that one she
hated. Not even the hatred one feels towards another person... Noelle was something else entirely to her.

She dropped to her knees before her empress, and wrapped her arms around the echani's waist.

"
...oh Quinn..."

"No one is allowed to take you from me," Quinn locked eyes with Kaila, an air of dominance and possession breathed around her.

"Because you're mine.

"I am." tears soaked through her thin nightgown.

"
I think I always be."

Kaila certainly wanted to.

"
I have spent so long running from fate. But I will fight it to be yours if I must. I can see now that you were only doing the same."

"
As perhaps you've done from the beginning."

She pushed herself up to be nearly eye level with her, caressing her love's pale cheek.

"
Look how far you've come...! How can she be stronger, when she's not fought for everything she has, like you? When the force coddled her. That's what it does... It influences fate, favoring it's... it's light."

"
I would destroy it for you, for us, I would find a way, if only it would not destroy you too."

"I love you, Quinn Varanin."

"I always will."

The ebb and flow of Kailia's emotions pulsed through their connection. There had only been one other time her mind was as open as it was to someone else. Quinn feared that connection but reveled in it. She could feel Kaila better than anyone; each thought and emotion was hers to know. Nothing would be hidden from the other, and the young Echani wanted Kaila to see every idea she had. Her legs moved, allowing the blonde to collapse onto her knees, pulling the Princess into a warm embrace.

It wasn't hard to understand her lover's sadness and fear. The powers she had just spoken of were ones even Sith was taught to fear. But why fear something that could bring power? However, losing oneself to something and being unable to control it is terrifying. Sith function on their own autonomy. The hunger took that away - except for the Echani.

Slowly, Quinn weaved her fingers through the woman's blonde hair, guiding her gaze towards her. She wanted to lose herself in the deep golden orbs of her lover. For a moment, Quinn simply looked, seeing the tears that clung to the tips of Kaila's lashes. Pure devotion was etched on her face while she knelt so willingly at the Princess' feet - surrendering, not out of weakness, but out of love.

The storm settled in her chest as she exhaled softly. Kaila's words weighed on her fragile heart; Quinn always expected the worst to happen before the blonde. Her world was filled with loss, shaped by empty promises and betrayals. Kaila stayed; she didn't run. Like Quinn, Kaila chose her. Her face softened as she stared upon the face of her devout paramour. She wished that she would never hurt her and that she would always cherish the Princess.

Quinn's touch softened as she caressed Kaila's cheek and let her fingers continue down her jawline. Then, she leaned in, capturing her paramour's lips in a deep and claiming kiss. Slow and searching, Quinn tested the edges of what she was allowed to take and what she was allowed to have. Her heart wanted more; Quinn pressed forward, desperate and willing. Remembering the pain of her heart shattering when she couldn't feel Kaila in the Force.

Pulling back, Quinn let her thumb trace over Kaila's full lips. Her voice lowered. "You would destroy the Force for me?" the Princess questioned in a whisper. Her voice was equally full of admiration with a hint of something darker—something possessive. Her other hand slipped beneath Kaila's chin, lifting it just enough to ensure the Echani had her full attention. "You would fight fate itself?" Quinn slowly smiled, already knowing the answer to her questions.

"You are mine," Her voice quiet as she leaned forward and lightly kissed the woman's freckled forehead. "And I am yours, my Love. I will always love you." The words came easy; there was no more holding back her heart. Quinn trailed her fingers over the silken fabric, gripping the material gently. "Stand with me," the command returned to the Princess' voice yet, still laced with tenderness. "Not beneath me. Not behind me." Quinn tilted her head, her voice softening slightly. "Beside me,"

Then her lips curved into a teasing smirk as she gently sighed and whispered, leaning forward and caressing the edge of her lover's ear. "Unless, of course, you like it down there."

Mine.

It was an apt descriptor of the young Knight, one the princess spoke often.

Anyone else may have buckled under the possessive nature of the word, certainly for how many times Quinn had addressed her in this way. It made Kaila feel whole, to belong to someone. To
her. And to know that, though her own claim manifested quite differently, Quinn belonged to her, in a way.

Her face steadily lifted at the princess' touch, citrine softening as it followed close behind.

Not to emphasize the dynamic of power, it seemed, but to remind Anathemous that her place was never beneath. Her lips pursed, knowing that of all those she'd loved since leaving the Kainites, only Quinn wished her to be an equal. Even those jedi she'd tried to love saw her as something lesser. Something to be fixed. But Quinn loved her for who she was, and though Kaila once feared what her princess might become, she would always love who she was.

"Unless, of course, you like it down there."

She fought back her knowing smile through the heat rising in her blood.

Kaila knew that to answer truthfully meant they might not leave that throne till morning. Every encounter with her love was a gamble, and though Kaila had never once been a gambling woman before, the echani had a way of bringing out the worst in her, and making something beautiful of it anyway.

Thus she chose to answer in the echani's own language.

Black nailed fingers traced gently up the throned woman's silk wreathed leg, coming to rest firmly upon her thigh as Kaila smiled up at her, thin and satisfactorily.

"
...and if I do...?"

Quinn's breath hitched when Kaila's hand slid up her thigh. She felt the woman's fingertips dragging with a quiet hunger that shivered through her core. The deliberate, almost worshipful touch caused Echani's pulse to be quick and steal the air from her lungs. Quinn should have demanded more, commanded the woman to move, act on her desires, and stand and take her. Yet, Kaila remained on her knees - not out of submission or duty but because she wanted to.

Her lips curled into a smile, feeling the woman's words through her touch. Kaila fully expressed herself in the way that Quinn had always dreamed. She could hear her lover's wants and desires through simple touch as if she had been born to the Echani people - the Princess' own.

As Kaila's fingers pressed against the Princess' skin, Quinn's grip tightened on the arm of her throne, fingers curling over the obsidian edge. It was hard to deny and restrain what she wanted, knowing that Kaila would have won this game if she had given in too soon. Watching her, knowing what she was thinking and what she desired from the Echani, began to drive the Princess over the edge. She needed a moment, a step, to calm herself before she fell into the Knight and drowned.

"You are beautiful," Quinn said with gentle resolve. It betrayed her inner fire that burned for the Vahla at her feet. Leaning forward and reaching for the woman, she pulled her without command. Quinn wanted her love close. "I feel as if you're learning to test me, how to drive me beyond my means to get what you want." The Princess smiled, knowing that she often did this to the Knight and her Maiden.

To have it done to her was a sight to behold. "Come to me, please," Quinn gently commanded the woman as she pulled at her silken nightgown. Eyes wandering, wanting to know more, to see more. Too often, she had grown used to the woman wearing the armor and the body glove. But to see her in a simple wrapped fabric, thin enough for her to tantalizingly touch the smooth skin under - made her smile. "You were never meant to kneel to me, nor would I ever make you - aside for other reasons." A knowing devilish grin spread across the Princess' lips as she eluded to their intimacy. "I want you as you are, as you choose to be."

Quinn quietly contemplated the things that Kaila had told her in the past. Relationships and her apprenticeship under Carnifex—everything was meant to change and control the woman. As she thought to herself, her eyes admired everything that her lover was, a hand cascading down the flowing black silk, feeling what her touch did. They were in sync on and off the battlefield, and even now, she could feel their presence melding with each other.

"Have I calmed your thoughts and worries? I don't want to add more weight to your mind, my love." Even now, as much as she tried to maintain her convictions, the desire was too great; she pulled Kaila closer, wanting to feel her weight against her. A gentle sigh as she breathed in the woman and felt the comfort only she could bring.

"I'm nothing without you. I would burn the galaxy with all of my might if I had to—if that was the only way I could protect you." Her eyes ablaze, and her heart emboldened.

"I would betray even the Force."

Kaila rose to eyelevel with the princess, as she gently pulled her.

"
I learned from the best." she smiled.

It wasn't long before the space between them began to vanish little by little as Quinn spoked and gripped at her knight's gown. It was intoxicating, both to be needed so desperately, and to know that it was
her who did so. To say nothing of the royal's sweet perfume.

"You were never meant to kneel to me, nor would I ever make you - aside for other reasons." A knowing devilish grin spread across the Princess' lips as she eluded to their intimacy. "I want you as you are, as you choose to be."

As you choose to be.

Her mischievous smile faded, and lips parted.

Of all the flowery things anyone had ever said to Kaila, every carefully thought out manipulation or heartfelt confession, this simple statement was perhaps the kindest of them all.

Kaila was stunned, speechless, unable to do more than shiver at her lover's touch.

It took a moment even as Quinn spoke to regain her bearings enough to answer, swallowing a breath she'd not realized was being held.

"Have I calmed your thoughts and worries? I don't want to add more weight to your mind, my love."

"...yes." she stammered.

"
I think so."

Kaila placed her knee upon the throne as Quinn pulled her even closer, leaning eagerly forward until there was no space left between them so that she may wrap her arms around the princess in a tight embrace. She nuzzled into her princess, her living heart, sillken hair like flowing water between her fingers.

"
You would betray your maker, for me...?"

The implications were profound as they were grim.

"
...oh Quinn..."

She squeezed just a little tighter for but a moment longer before pulling back to look Quinn in the eye. She spoke with a trembling lip, as it tried to find all the words her mind wished to speak, to no avail.

<<...It would destroy you...>>
She whispered into their shared minds.

<<
...and I cannot live in a world without you...>>

She knew in her heart that the only way she would survive such an event were if Quinn could be brought back, or if Kirie Kirie remained. She knew, and the echani knew through their bond, that she would dedicate her life to protecting what is Quinn's, now forever. In the event of her fall, it would become her only purpose to live.

Next to righteous vengeance against whatever instrument of cruel fate had the misfortune of depriving them their love.

"
I wish to share this world with you for as long as you will allow. That is all I require."

She leaned into her again, to hold her pale heart close.

"
I can't lose you again. I won't."

Her words elicited the Princess's slow, measured breath as her fingers tangled deeply into the fabric of Kaila's nightgown. Quinn clung tightly, grounding herself in the weight of her lover. Kaila pressed in so close that her warmth bled into Quinn's skin, causing a shiver to trail down Echani's spine.

Quinn could feel the unspoken words trembling on Kaila's lips, seeing her golden eyes burn brilliantly - only for her Princess. She understood, even without words, that the closeness and desperate devotion they had for each other was more than enough. Words weren't needed, not in how the Echani preferred to communicate. Kaila had learned to speak beautifully, and Quinn's heart didn't realize how proud she was. To be accepted, to have what made her she needed.

Kaila had found her voice, and her words lingered between them, tethering around Quinn's heart. She felt her throat tighten, struggling to swallow the ache rising within her against the knowledge of how much she meant to this woman, how much she had to lose. The Princess lifted a hand, cupping Kaila's cheek, her thumb rushing over the warmth of her skin. She melted hearing the vulnerability in her beloved protector—it nearly undid her.

"You never will," Quinn whispered, her voice remaining soft. Kaila moved closer to her, her knee on the seat's edge and against the Princess. Their closeness grew as Quinn exhaled, feeling the safety of the woman. "You were always meant to be with me…" Quinn looked up, her eyes half-lidded as she began to lose herself in their closeness. She wanted more, but restraint kept her, knowing Kaila needed the reassurance just as severely as the Princess. Still, the hand on her cheek guided the woman's face to hers. Tilting up, her breath caressing over Kaila's lips, teasing but not touching.

A test of restraint and patience - defying the electric tension that continuously surged between them. "Fate has tried to take me from you before…" Quinn spoke, her breath shaky remembering her failures on Susevfi, "But it will never win, not then, not now." Darkness hung in her words, a dangerous promise laced with possessive devotion. Quinn knew their journey was paved to be carved through blood and ambition, but not even the Force itself would try to tear them apart. If it wanted to try, then so be it. Quinn knew she would burn it wall before allowing anything or anyone to take what was hers.

"I would betray everything for you," her confession hanging just moments before her lips lightly pressed against Kaila's, enough for the woman to taste the promise. "The Force, my makers, the will of the stars themselves - none matter if I do not have you."

The Princess traced her fingers down Kaila's arm, over the curve of her wrist, until she held her hand. Slowly, she leaned back and placed Vahla's palm against her beating heart. "This is yours; I am yours."

Quinn gently pulled the woman by her arm, kissing her properly at the same time. She poured into it all the fire of her devotion, the unspoken words between them that could only be conveyed through touch. The kiss was slow and deliberate and suddenly deepened into something raw and desperate. Quinn pulled Kaila as close as possible, forcing the woman to press into her again.

Quinn knew she would never let her go.

Always meant to be.

Quinn spoke as if fate ordained their love, or perhaps, that she herself was the very higher power to do so.

Her breath hitched as their lips lingered close. The echani had a way of making one feel as though they could finally breath, only to take it away. It was a love that could suffocate, Kaila knew, but just as the hunger, Quinn kept herself under control. She felt safe with her, a woman who could destroy her.

Kaila barely had any such control as she, and in moments like these, oft wondered why they couldn't just marry already. Logically she knew why, and would patiently wait out their secret as her most dutiful knight should.

So instead she nuzzled into the princess' gentle hand, and smiled.

"Fate has tried to take me from you before…" Quinn spoke, her breath shaky remembering her failures on Susevfi, "But it will never win, not then, not now."

It faded for a time, eyes opening, refusing to relive those memories which often haunted her on those nights away from her.

"
...I know." she murmured, laying her hand over Quinn's.

"
We won't let it happen. Never again."

Words she'd thought so many times before loving Quinn. It felt almost strange to say it aloud, despite how instinctually she'd done so. Ironically, she hoped this would be the last time she said those words. Never again.

They kissed not long after, preceded by another set of words that overwhelmed love-starved senses. A promise that tasted of true love's lips, growing into something needlessly desperate despite the abundance of their love, something
hungry, despite their oaths never to leave one another.

She felt her lover's heartbeat against her flattened palm. The knight, as she seemed to do often yet only ever in Quinn's sole purview, shed a tear of tear as she pressed her weight into the princess, thankful this throne was rooted into the floor, lest they topple one another.

Were their lips not locked so, she may have repeated the promise back to her. Kaila smiled through their kiss, choosing instead to savor the moment, displaying her emotions in a psychic whisper.

<<
...as am I... as is mine...always...>>

Perhaps Quinn was right, and they were always meant to be.

They were perfect for each other.
