Kaila asked Quinn a question that she had hoped she wouldn't ask. She hadn't expected to use the Force drain, but she did it on instinct. The Princess wanted to kill the Jedi, which Quinn believed took Kaila from her. The hug tightened as Quinn listened to the woman explain why she was scared of the power that the Princess had used.
The hunger. Quinn knew the hunger well; they were old friends, and she sighed softly, nestling into Kaila. The question the woman asked hung in the silent air, thickening it till it - like the Force, consumed.
"You won't lose me." Quinn's voice cut through as she reassured her lover. Everything would come to this eventually, and Quinn would need to explain the powers she had displayed on the Woostri surface. They were why the rebels on Susevfi cherished their anti-force weapons. Their reason was to make sure the
witch was contained.
Pulling back slightly, Quinn looked up at Kaila, letting her hazel eyes take in the sight of her broken Knight.
Her face softened as she caressed Kaila's, seeing the pain this was all causing her. It was time to explain things—to make her the one other person who knew.
"I am the hunger." Quinn let her hand fall as she pulled away, letting the robe fall and cascade on the stairway to the throne.
"I was born with it; it's why I was allowed to live." Fingers trailing her parents' throne, one that both had sat upon to command legions for the Empire. A part of her hated them for the choices they had made to conceive her, while another knew it was necessary.
"My parents couldn't conceive naturally like most parents. So, instead, they looked to the Force. My birth mother was like me, forced born and created in the same fashion they chose to make me and my twin sister, Noelle." Quinn circled the throne, imagining the way Ashin would have commanded, the ruthlessness she was known for as Darth Desimus - yet her First Apprentice, Spencer Jacobs - only knew her kindness. The tale of her parents changed from Empire to Empire, but there was always one constant.
Together, they were powerful.
"Midichlorian Manipulation. It was something created by Darth Plagueis. The Sith obsessed with creating life and living forever." Quinn found herself leaning back into the throne once she sat upon it. Her legs crossed delicately as she looked towards her lover.
"Using this method, they created my sister and me - unfortunately for the number of times Ashin, my other mother, had changed bodies - not picking perfect clones that had the same force energy as herself, there were faults." Quinn let her gaze on Kaila briefly until she couldn't bear to see how her face would change with the next part of the story.
"Both my parents were Jedi, Ashin a former Shadow in a sense and Spencer a padawan. Falling victim to an attack, Ashin was poisoned, unable to touch the light anymore. She trained in the dark side and became who she was known as in the Empire. She trained Spencer, a strong mentalist who could command armies from the depths of her mind. Together, they were powerful - but not enough to keep their children alive."
The Princess was visibly uncomfortable, and through their bond, Kaila would feel this was a part that Quinn hated knowing about herself. It was a choice she had no input in making - but without it, she wouldn't have lived. Her voice cracked as she spoke,
"Noelle was stronger, demanding more of my mother. She was suffocating me in the womb, destroying me, consuming me before I could even breathe." Anger seethed from behind her teeth. It was hard not to dislike her sister; from conception, her sister had tried to snuff her out.
"They couldn't do anything - they didn't have enough strength to fight with me to live. It's when they decided to shove the horror into me. An endless supply of the dark side into a child, giving that child a chance to live. The Phobis device's force energy was fused to mine. I grew into it, having it protecting me from my sickeningly light-sided sister." Quinn chewed on her thumb as she thought. The phobis device was like the beating heart in her chest. It was as a part of her as her blood and flesh were. There was no getting rid of it, no losing its power - she could only it.
"The hunger is the device. The hunger is something I've felt since the moment I could breathe. I feel it even now, but" Quinn looked at Kaila from the corner of her eye.
"This Darth Keres, she's not wrong. The hunger consumes and becomes all that a Sith can think about. They lose everything that they are and cease to exist outside of that hunger. To control it is impossible."
Quinn adjusted in her seat, a small smile cracking at the corner of her lips.
"Unless you're like me. I have never fed on another person before, but I knew the moment I did, things would change, but I'll always be me - I won't let it control me." Quinn sighed. The hunger was there, wanting more from the Jedi, but her resolve had trained for this—to keep it at bay and to remain herself.
"I did it because I thought I had lost you. The moment I no longer felt your mind or heard your heartbeat through our connection, I lost control. I wanted to destroy the Jedi that took you from me." Even now, knowing that the creature still breathed the air around her - infuriated the Princess. "I was going to take everything from her as she had taken from me and then rip through Chaos to retrieve you."
A fist rested against the angered Echani, her chest rising and falling with her hatred for the Jedi.
"No one is allowed to take you from me," Quinn locked eyes with Kaila, an air of dominance and possession breathed around her.
"Because you're mine."
