Clover didn't understand the corporate world. She only had a very small interest in the political arena, if it didn't affect her environment and her sisters, she wouldn't even have that. How credits changed hands was of no interest. The fact that the parties were not about credits seemed a bit dubious, why ask relatives of important business people if not to get credits, but Clover wasn't about to argue. "Parties shouldn't be a place for business anyways. A place to let your hair down, assuming you have hair," she gave a little giggle, "And to have a good time."

The deal with the Jedi was a little bit more important to Clover. All of the Twin Moons were able to touch the Force in a more than average manner. Should any of them act out the Jedi would be the ones to come and "handle" the situation. Also, if one of the Twin Moons should happen to prove to be extremely talented a negotiation of how they should be trained would be much better than for the Jedi to swoop in and take them. "It is lucky Lysaran and Sylithia have found such a good friend in you. I don't think the Jedi would take us very seriously if they wanted something from us. It is good to have allies."

Clover could not help a giggle at how the Senator said she measured her associations. "I have no doubt that everyone who watches you leave will want to see even more of you," Clover answered joyfully. "However when I watched as you came I knew that I would never forget that sight and would want to see it over and over again. Watching you as you go would just be the icing on the top. I hope my appearance is equally memorable to you Senator."

Clover smiled again. "The Jedi mean well for the most part. I do not mind working with them. Though we don't like to fight much. Even in standing up for ourselves and the right to keep our children it would be a stretch for us to push back to hard. Your help is very much appreciated.

She looked at her. "Oh it is and there is plenty to do still. The Twin Moons will be essential even if they don't get to be public to the galaxy... preferably in some ways as force orders among some jedi groups change a lot." She had a small grin on her face at the mention she she wasn't going to miss remember the neti anytime soon. She was more then worth visiting the island more. "I'll just have to make a trip, come and see a few more and rare I get to practice my dancing with better music. Clubs are good but there is something to be said about being able to move with the sound of a force infused lyre." The grin was there on her face. "Company is always welcome."

Clover held the gaze of the Senator, offering a friendly smile before answering. "We much prefer play, but the Twin Moons are not afraid to roll up our sleeves…" Clover looked at her bare arms and giggled. "Perhaps there is a better saying to use for us. But we are willing to dig in and help for sure." At the statement that the Twin Moons would not be "public" there was no complaints from Clover. "We would not want to advertise that we have an enclave of beautiful Force Sensitive women with a 'love first' attitude on Denon. Though I would suggest it could be quite the boon for your tourism numbers." Clover gave Ayumi a wink.

"In truth working on making Denon more beautiful and admission to some of these parties you throw are all the public that we are like to desire. Those sisters who want more than that will inevitably stray from the flock," Clover continued in a more somber, yet still upbeat tone. She enjoyed her little community, but she didn't want to have anyone stay there because they felt it was required of them. That was not the way of the Twin Moons.

"If you come and visit there will be company aplenty for someone like you," Clover offered her playful tone returning in its full force. "I merely sing and dance, which I would very much enjoy doing with…or for you. But I have a few friends who play our wonderful instruments. We could surely get a group together you would find inviting."

Her eyebrows raised up though as she looked at the woman. Leading the way into the vertical farms and gardens with a nod of her head. "We may have more then you think, a number of the businesses in Upcity and a few others recently have decided for shall we say specific tastes. None of them discriminate but they are able to cultivate certain enjoyments." Like Mystique island there were a lot more women only clubs and some others places but Ayumi had made sure it was not going into the places of misandry. There were just as many gentlemen spaces or alien lounges. Granted she was welcomed in the cigar lounge because they loved rubbing elbows with a senator.

"Mystique island was just mine as the Director of District Nineteen, an exclusive idea for sure but it showed there was profits to be made for the entertainment and we do have a clothing optional beach curated by zeltrons and twi'leks that always attracts the people to it. She had worked on other aspects, there was something fun about Denon Sabaac.... mostly cause they had made it extra with heated rivalries, speed and hardlight so you could see the skill and power of the players while they haad their own drivers. Card games on swoop cycles was... something else entirely and she was all forr it as well as visiting. "I will have to take a day trip there again. I do enjoy watching them dance."

Clover listened. Not passively—never that—but with a kind of intent focus that made it feel like every word Ayumi offered was being tasted before it was allowed to pass. Her steps fell easily into place beside her as they moved into the vertical gardens, eyes drifting—not to the surroundings—but back to Ayumi again and again, as if the rest of it was just backdrop.

“Specific tastes,” Clover echoed softly, the words rolling off her tongue with quiet amusement. Her gaze flicked sideways, a knowing look settling in—one that said she understood exactly what that meant… and perhaps a little more.

“I like a place that knows what it’s doing,” she added, voice warm, lightly teasing. “Curated experiences. Intentional indulgence.”

A faint hum left her as Ayumi continued, Clover’s attention sharpening at the mention of Mystique Island. That smile returned—slow, intrigued, just a touch mischievous. “Oh, you didn’t just visit those spaces…” she murmured, tilting her head. “You built them.”

That seemed to please her far more than it should have. Clover slowed her pace just slightly, letting Ayumi take half a step ahead before drifting closer again—closing that gap with a kind of effortless inevitability.

“An island. A beach. Zeltrons involved?” she went on, her tone light but threaded with playful curiosity. “You really don’t do anything halfway, do you?”

Her eyes lingered—unapologetically—before lifting again. “And a clothing-optional beach?” A soft, amused breath escaped her. “Mm. You’re full of surprises.”

The mention of sabaac on swoops drew a quiet laugh from her—genuine this time, bright and easy. “That sounds completely reckless,” Clover said, glancing ahead briefly as if imagining it—then back again, far more interested in Ayumi’s reaction than the idea itself. ”And very, very fun.”

She slowed again—this time enough to gently step into Ayumi’s path, turning just enough that their movement paused without feeling forced.

Clover leaned slightly, just within that careful edge of closeness—never quite crossing it, always inviting. “You enjoy watching them dance…” she echoed, softer now. A beat. Her smile shifted—less teasing, more intent.

“I think I’d rather watch you,” she said, voice dipping just enough to carry the suggestion without making it heavy. “Somehow I get the feeling you’re the more interesting performance.”

A pause followed—deliberate, drawn out just enough to let the words settle. Then, lighter again: “But I suppose I should start smaller.” Her fingers brushed lightly along a nearby railing, casual, but her attention never left Ayumi. “You could show me one of these places. Your favorite.”

A faint tilt of her head. “Or are you the type who prefers to be asked nicely first?”

Her eyebrowss came up as she spoke with half a grrin and a wink. "Well sometimes I only need to go halfway with a tongue or pair of fingers but...." She moved a little as the gardens had some different things growing. Trees for fruits and more veggies in the ground but there was also racks of herbs, spices to be ground up laterr. Some smaller animals moving around when she tapped a tree though and let one of the larger fruits drop down. Only catching it with her hand at the stem while the outer surface of it was spines with a glistening tops all around. She spoke but set it down. "I do love to dance for people, haven't done a good show in a long time." SHe said it but was getting a small knife from a droid as she drove it in and began to pry, crack and open the shell of the fruit. Carefully. "A Sophros Fruits, the outer shell is strong against force powers, lightsbaers and blasters. Great for a surprise as people are only going to want the inside." She said it and once it was opened the fruit inside was sections and divided as she pulled it out offering it. "The membrane is strong enough to hold but the juice is amazing and it melts in your mouth."

Clover didn’t interrupt. ut the moment Ayumi’s words landed—halfway… a tongue… a pair of fingers—something in Clover’s expression shifted. Not shock. Not surprise.
Interest. Sharp, immediate, and unmistakably delighted.

A quiet, breathy laugh slipped from her, low in her throat as she followed just a step closer into the garden space. Her eyes didn’t wander to the fruit, or the droid, or even the strange little creatures scattering at the tap of the tree.

They stayed on Ayumi. “Mm,” she hummed, slow and appreciative, “I was already interested…”

Her head tilted slightly, that smile returning—lazy, knowing. “But now you’re just showing off.” She watched the fruit come down, watched the careful way Ayumi handled it, the knife working into the shell. There was something in that precision that caught Clover’s attention again—something deliberate, practiced. Intentional.

“Force-resistant?” she echoed softly, stepping closer still—not quite touching, but close enough now that the space between them felt very much like a choice. “That’s a very specific kind of problem to solve.”

Her gaze flicked briefly to the fruit as it opened—just long enough to register it—before returning, as it always seemed to, to Ayumi herself. “Though I suppose,” Clover added lightly, “you don’t strike me as someone who leaves things unprotected.”

A beat. Then her eyes dipped—following the offered section of fruit—and finally, finally, her attention shifted fully to it. She reached out. But instead of immediately taking it, her fingers brushed lightly against Ayumi’s hand first—just a graze, fleeting enough to be deniable, deliberate enough not to be accidental. Only then did she take the piece.

Clover turned it slightly between her fingers, examining it for a brief moment before bringing it to her lips. She didn’t rush. Of course she didn’t. Everything about her slowed instead. Measured. Intentional.

Her gaze lifted back to Ayumi as she tasted it, expression softening just slightly as the flavor hit—eyes half-lidding for just a second longer than necessary. “Mm… you weren’t exaggerating,” she murmured, voice quieter now, almost thoughtful. “That’s—” She paused, considering. “Dangerously good.”

Another small bite followed, slower this time, her attention never leaving Ayumi. “You do realize,” Clover added after a moment, tone returning to that playful edge, “if this is how you introduce your favorite places, I’m going to start thinking you’re trying to impress me.”

A faint smile tugged at her lips again—sharper now. “And it’s working.” She leaned in just slightly—not enough to crowd, just enough to close. “You dance,” she continued, softer again, almost like she was testing the words. “You build entire spaces around indulgence…”

Her eyes flicked briefly over Ayumi once more, unhurried, unapologetic. “…and you casually hand someone something that melts in their mouth while talking about protection and surprises.” A quiet breath of amusement. “That’s a very dangerous combination.”

A beat. Then, lighter—but no less intent: “So when you say you haven’t done a good show in a while…” Clover’s head tilted again, curiosity threading through the flirtation. “Is that because no one’s been worth the effort…”

Her gaze held steady. “…or because no one’s asked you the right way?”

She looked at her and gave an I am innocence look to all of ti as she spoke. Why I have no idea what you could mean, I would never seek to impress, seduce and intrigue a beautiful woman nope not me." She said it with a smile as her hand remained there but she was looking at her. "I am as I am, a reformer, a hedonist, a jedi master though most orders and governments that had me registered." She smiled though with a wink. "And I would never use delicious fruit or foods to become untoward beautiful women no matter how much of a tree hugger I am sometimes called." Her laugh was there though.. her amusement at it as a small private moment before taking another bite. "It just so happens these are amazing and having the shells able to be used for multiple purposes benefits Denon."

Clover laughed. Not a polite little exhale—an actual laugh, warm and bright, because Ayumi’s performance of innocence was so transparently guilty that it only made her more appealing. “Oh, of course not,” Clover said immediately, matching the tone with exaggerated agreement. “You? Seduce? Intrigue? Impress?”

She placed a hand lightly against her own chest as if scandalized by the accusation. “I’ve clearly misread this entire afternoon.” But she didn’t move away from that hand still lingering there. If anything, Clover allowed herself to settle more comfortably into the shared closeness, her fingers shifting just enough that they rested more fully against Ayumi’s for a brief, deliberate moment before easing back.

Her smile softened into something lower, more openly appreciative. “A reformer, a hedonist, and a Jedi Master,” she repeated, tasting each title as if deciding which one she liked best. “That is an unfairly compelling combination.”

Her head tilted. “Usually I only get one dangerous trait at a time.” The wink earned a visible flicker of delight from Clover. She bit lightly at the inside of her cheek, grinning despite herself. “And a tree hugger,” she added. “You forgot shameless fibber.”

Her eyes dropped meaningfully to the fruit, then lifted back to Ayumi with no attempt to hide the implication. “You absolutely know what you’re doing.” She took another bite of the Sophros fruit, slower this time, then pointed lightly with the half-finished piece. “Though I will concede,” Clover said, “using rare produce and ecological civic planning as a seduction strategy is refreshingly original.”

A quiet hum followed as she swallowed. “Very Denon.”

She stepped past Ayumi then, but only just—turning as she did so that she remained facing her while walking backward a few paces through the garden lane. It made the whole thing feel less like moving on and more like drawing Ayumi after her.

Clover spread her hands slightly. “So let me see if I have this right.” Her grin widened. “You are a registered Jedi Master who built pleasure districts, clothing-optional beaches, exclusive clubs, and combat-proof fruit infrastructure…” She narrowed her eyes playfully. “…and I am supposed to believe you aren’t interesting on purpose?”

Another backward step. The garden lights caught in her hair as she laughed again, softer now. “No, no. I reject that entirely.” She pointed gently at Ayumi, mock accusatory. “This—” Clover circled the finger once in the air, indicating all of her, “—is cultivated.”

A beat. “And I like cultivated things.” Her voice dipped on the last sentence, flirtation slipping from playful into something warmer again. She stopped walking backward, letting Ayumi close the distance if she wished.

“Tell me something,” Clover said, lifting the remaining fruit section to her lips before pausing there. “With all these carefully curated indulgences and all this concern for Denon’s benefit…”

Her eyes held Ayumi’s over the edge of the fruit. “When do you stop being Director and Master and Reformer…” A small bite. A slow swallow. “…and just let yourself be trouble?”

"Registered is a strong word. The High Republic's jedi order does not acknowledge me as a master. It is how I am able to be a senator under the laws they have established." She said it and had a look though while she was listening to some compliments. "And I rarely turn off what I am doing despite what Melanie, my chief of staff would say." She said it with a look more at it. "But I do enjoy dinners and in this case an early bunch for the food would serve better. We have even more being made... The hardlight zoo's work to have livestock and food raised as well as for the others to be able to visit and see." She shrugged though while she didn't move herr hand, she was just looking. "But I can be convinced should you want to try and distract me from my burden and time."

Clover’s “brows” rose slowly at that. “Ah,” she murmured, drawing the sound out as though she had just been handed a particularly juicy secret. “So you’re not their Master.” The grin that followed was immediate. “That somehow makes it better.”

She took another unhurried step closer, all but abandoning any pretense now that this was simply a pleasant tour of agriculture. The gardens remained around them in soft green tiers and filtered light, but Clover regarded them with the detached fondness of someone who appreciated the setting only because it made the company prettier.

“Independent, politically inconvenient, difficult to categorize…” she continued, ticking each point off with quiet satisfaction. “Mm. Yes. That tracks.” Her eyes glittered. “You are becoming alarmingly tailored to my tastes.”

At the mention of Melanie, Clover laughed softly through her nose. “Oh, I would adore meeting the poor woman who has to keep you pointed at legislation while you’re busy building hedonistic beaches and feeding strangers scandalous fruit.” She shifted the last bit of Sophros fruit between her fingers, then finally finished it, expression brightening once more at the taste.

“Early brunch,” she repeated. “Hardlight zoos. Livestock displays. More food.” Her head tilted, and the look she gave Ayumi made it very clear that Clover knew this had stopped being about the itinerary some time ago.

“You do understand that every time you offer me another destination, it sounds less like hospitality and more like an attempt to keep me with you for the entire day.” A small pause. “Which, for the record, is succeeding.”

She let that settle, then glanced very pointedly down toward Ayumi’s unmoving hand before returning to her face with a smile that had turned almost wicked in its fondness. “And now,” Clover said, voice dropping into something silkier, “you say you can be convinced.”

She leaned in. Not enough to touch—still never taking what hadn’t been offered—but close enough that the flirtation had become impossible to mistake for casual banter. “Oh, Ayumi,” Clover murmured, “that is an exceptionally irresponsible thing to tell me.”

A beat. “Because I do so love a challenge.” Her fingers lifted, hovering near Ayumi’s wrist for a second before lightly tracing down to brush against her hand again—barely there, just enough to make the point.

“You want distraction from burden and time?” Clover asked softly. She smiled. “I can do distraction.”

Then she straightened only slightly, enough to keep eye contact effortless, enough to let the teasing return around the edges. “But if I’m going to pull a Senator away from civic duty and righteous productivity…” she said, folding her hands behind her back in exaggerated innocence, “…I should know what level of misconduct I’m aiming for.”

Her head tipped. “Are we talking brunch that runs scandalously long?” Another tiny step closer. “An abandoned schedule?” Her gaze dipped briefly to Ayumi’s lips before rising again. “Or full dereliction of responsibility in favor of whatever happens to be more fun in the moment?”

Her eyebrow shot up. "You are assuming my small talk is not knowing how to seductively talk about taxation or economic growth. Melanie is good at her job but she also doesn't view enjoying the job as the same thing. Helping people is good but why not enjoy doing it?" She had a small laugh looking at the woman. "Hmm a little of all would be best. I am technically still on my morning jog, going back to the senate district goes a long way." She haad time and moved taking the womans arm aas her hand came out to show more. "But my seduction game is all about the strength of this and Denon has even more. The lakes cleaning was just the first we have entire seas and causeways being made. Oceans every few hundred levels and the new smart water is self cleaning from pollution but also has nano nullification technologies which are safe for plants, people and everything but also negate the weight of the seas of denon."

Clover made a soft sound of appreciation the moment Ayumi started talking about taxation seductively. Not mocking. Genuinely delighted.

“Oh, that is catastrophically attractive,” she said immediately, smiling wide enough now that it became impossible to hide how entertained—and interested—she was. “You realize most people try to make economic growth sound less spicy.”

She allowed herself to be led without resistance when Ayumi took her arm, falling into step beside her easily. Naturally. Like she belonged there already. “And yet somehow,” Clover continued, glancing sidelong at her, “you make civic infrastructure sound like foreplay.”

The laugh that escaped her after that was bright and low and utterly unashamed. Her attention stayed fixed on Ayumi as she spoke about Denon’s oceans and causeways, about self-cleaning water and nanotechnology and entire artificial seas layered through the world. Clover listened—not because she was humoring her, but because Ayumi spoke about it with the kind of passion that made everything feel alive.

That was the dangerous part. Not the flirting. The sincerity underneath it. Clover’s expression softened just slightly as they walked. “You really love this place,” she murmured.

There was less teasing in that sentence than the others. More observation. More admiration. Then, inevitably, the flirtation returned. “And here I thought your seduction game was the hand-holding and scandal fruit.”

Her free hand rose lightly as Ayumi continued explaining the oceans, fingertips brushing the air as if trying to picture it all. “Entire seas every few hundred levels…” Clover repeated, shaking her head with quiet amazement. “Do you have any idea how unfair it is to be beautiful and visionary?”

She squeezed gently against Ayumi’s arm as they walked. “I’m trying very hard to remain a somewhat reasonable person here, Ayumi, and you are making that increasingly difficult.”

At the mention of her “morning jog,” Clover laughed again, softer this time. “Oh, we passed morning jog territory a while ago.” Her grin turned sly. “I think this officially qualifies as being swept away.”

She slowed just a fraction, turning enough toward Ayumi that their pace naturally shortened together. “And for the record?” Clover added, voice dipping lower again, intimate beneath the humor. “A woman talking passionately about improving people’s lives while holding onto my arm is significantly more distracting than I expected.”

Her gaze lingered on Ayumi’s face for a long moment before drifting briefly downward—then back up again, warm and intent. “So yes,” she said softly, smiling at last. “I can absolutely be convinced into brunch.” Even though Clover had no real need to eat, she did so often as a social norm.

A beat. “But I should warn you…” Clover leaned just slightly closer as they walked, shoulder nearly brushing hers now. “If you keep talking about oceans and intriguing reworked districts and your revolutionary water systems like that…”

Her eyes glittered mischievously. “…I may start believing you invited me here specifically to flirt with me.”

SHe laughed with that. "Entertainment, we are not that kind of place. Denon is largely family friendly cause teens credits spend the same as adult." She said it while walking with the woman. "And yes but if you are not going to enjoy a subject you are discussing then you won't be able to convince. Or hate it enough to have enough passion that you can inspire a fire in others to dislike it as well." She was saying it with a nod. "And saying that... just means my game is getting that much better now. I'll get you something good to eat. with a view." She said it as the vertical gardens were beautiful but there was plenty that could be seen.

Clover let out a soft, amused breath at that—shaking her head just slightly as they walked.

“Family friendly,” she echoed, clearly unconvinced, her smile curling at the edges. “Mm. That’s not the phrase I would’ve chosen for all of the things you’ve described so far. Perhaps there is a convenient curtain that the saucy stuff hides behind.”

Her fingers shifted lightly against Ayumi’s arm, not tightening—just settling in more comfortably, like she had no intention of letting go any time soon. “Though I suppose,” Clover added, glancing at her sidelong, “it does explain the strategy. Start them young, teach them to appreciate good design, good food, good experiences…”

A beat. “Very subtle indoctrination into taste.” She smiled again—warmer this time. “I approve.”

Ayumi’s point about passion drew a quieter reaction. Clover didn’t interrupt, didn’t immediately turn it into a tease. She listened, really listened, watching the way she spoke, the certainty behind it. “Mm,” she murmured after a moment. “You’re right.”

Her tone softened—not playful, not sharp. Just… honest. “If you don’t feel it, no one else will.” Her gaze lingered on Ayumi a second longer than necessary, something thoughtful threading beneath the flirtation.

“And you feel everything you talk about.” That smile returned—slower now, more deliberate. “Which explains why you’re so convincing.”

The mention of her “game” improving earned a quiet laugh from Clover, low and pleased. “Oh, I noticed,” she said lightly. “You’re adapting in real time.” She turned her head slightly, letting her shoulder brush just faintly against Ayumi’s as they walked. “Very dangerous trait.”

When Ayumi promised something good to eat—with a view—Clover’s brows lifted just slightly, interest sharpening again. “Food and a view?” she repeated. “You’re escalating.”

Her gaze drifted outward briefly, taking in the vertical gardens, the layered greens, the glimpses of Denon stretching beyond. It was beautiful—undeniably so. But it didn’t hold her attention for long. She looked back at Ayumi. “It’s almost like you want me impressed.”

A soft pause. Then Clover leaned just a fraction closer as they walked, her voice dipping again into something more intimate, more playful. “Or,” she added, a faint smirk tugging at her lips, “you’re trying to make sure I don’t leave.”

Her eyes held Ayumi’s, steady and bright. “Which, to be fair…” she continued, tilting her head slightly, “is working.” Another step forward, still linked at the arm, still unhurried.

“But now I’m curious,” Clover went on, tone light but edged with interest again. “This view you’re promising…”

Her gaze flicked outward once more, then back. “Is it meant to compete with everything else you’ve shown me so far…” A small, knowing smile. “…or just distract me long enough that you can keep winning?”

She gave a shrug to that. "Yes." Just the one word but it did a lot more walking as the district shifted and she looked at one of the towers. "The penthouse on the top floor has an eatery." She said it while leading the way in and towards it. Into the building but she spoke. "But children learning is never bad. We teach them respect, we teach them skills and we teach them to love their world. I always found the ones teaching to actively dislike your own world." She said it and she didn't dislike Coruscant but she was also aware it would take a lot... a lot of work to try and to there what she had been doing on Denon... still if she had the chance there could be something to bridging Denon and Coruscant. She was leading the way inside and towards the white and gold lifts to go up.

Clover blinked once at the single-word answer—Then laughed, soft and delighted. “Gods, you don’t even pretend,” she murmured, shaking her head as she let herself be led inside. “Just yes. No defense. No denial.”

Her grip shifted slightly on Ayumi’s arm as they stepped toward the lifts, entirely at ease. “I like that,” she added, glancing at her sidelong. “It saves time.”

Her eyes lifted briefly to the towering height above them, then back again almost immediately—far more interested in the woman beside her than the destination ahead. “Penthouse, view, good food…” Clover ticked it off lightly. “You’re really committing to this whole ‘keeping me’ strategy.”

A faint smile tugged at her lips. “And the philosophy lesson too?” she went on, softer now. “Teach them to love their world.”

She studied Ayumi for a beat—something a touch more thoughtful slipping in, just for a moment. “Mm. That explains you.” Then the smile returned—quick, bright, teasing.

“But be careful,” Clover added as they neared the lift, leaning just slightly closer. “If you keep doing everything this well…” Her voice dipped. “I might start thinking you’re trying to give me reasons to stay.”

Leading the way through she only shrugged. "Again yes, but keeping you if you have something better or needed to do is not the intention. I am perfectly happy eating alone." She said it and stepped into the lift looking at the woman. "Besides Denon has a lot so it can last without me. The boards are skilled at doing what is needed even if some of them dislike me or hate me... they know I have endeavored to turn their profits to levels they never got and the people are happier so losing a cash senator and reformist would spark problems with the workers and populace." She had taken Dominique's advice to heart and was working on many aspects of it. To drastically improve what was there and take it as a pace.

Clover stepped into the lift with her, turning just enough that her attention stayed fixed on Ayumi rather than the doors sliding shut. “Mm,” she hummed softly at that, a faint smile tugging at her lips. “Well, that’s where you’re wrong.”

Her head tilted, eyes warm and unbothered. “I’m not being kept from anything more important than dining with a beautiful woman.” A small pause—just long enough to let it land. “And I’m quite content with that.”

Her gaze lingered a moment longer before she leaned back slightly against the side of the lift, arms folding loosely, posture relaxed but entirely engaged. “As for the rest of that…” Clover waved a hand lightly, amused. “Boards, profits, political leverage, worker sentiment—”

She shook her head, laughing under her breath. “I’ll be honest with you, Ayumi, I’ve never been able to understand politics.”

Her eyes flicked back to hers, bright with interest rather than dismissal. “It always sounds like a very complicated way of convincing people to agree with you… while pretending you’re not trying to.”

A beat. “Whereas you?” she added, smile returning, sharper now. “You just say yes and build oceans.”

She pushed off the wall just slightly, closing a bit of the space again as the lift began its ascent. “Much more effective.” Her voice softened again, dipping back into that easy, flirtatious cadence. “And far more interesting to listen to over brunch.”
