A Place I'd Never Go

Had she discovered the defense? She had hardly been cognizant--lightheaded and with whirling mind--and simply had been reliving her memory and noticing an inconsistency with that brutal experience years ago. Was that the key? Whatever the woman had been doing to her, it had stopped.

There was to be no relief, however, for as soon as Gen could regain her breath, the sinister claw that she had been so careful to keep away from reached for her; clutched at her neck only seconds after the deadly apparition had vanished. The incapacitated woman grabbed at the cybernetic limb and attempted to leverage a kick at the horrid little monster, but it only strained her neck more and she could not follow through with the strike. Her throat contracted and her eyes widened, ghostly as her flesh paled to a cold ivory.

Life was gone. She was gone. There would be no further acts in her youthful crusade of vengeance, disguise, and usurpation. One mistake, two mistakes--too many. It was all on her. There were no last words. All she had were her fingers to send a parting message to the beast.

Lasedri's eternal scowl relented to a far-away sadness as her larynx was ruptured. An awful, Force-wrenching crack reverberated throughout her body and infested her ears as her voice was taken from her. She shrieked as her larynx cracked, but no sound came out save a sickly heave as she was unceremoniously cast to the floor. Her fingers curled upon her hitting the floor and shot for her neck, trying to push whatever had been disjointed back into place. Everything was fading. Sight abandoned her eyes and only vision through the Force kept her perceptive of her surroundings.

Her legs pounded the floor as she kicked and writhed like an overturned insect. Her throat was aflame and the rest of her body numb. With each propulsion of her legs, Lasedri slithered pathetically towards the boarding ramp and rolled down. All effort was transferred to the physical now, her Force connection and vision cutting out. Vital systems must keep functioning.

She laid on her back after hitting the bottom, silent and still upon triggering a distress signal from within her coat pocket. If it's time to die, just die.

When her eyes reopened, she was in the medical bay of the YT-2400, strung to the bed. Geneviève had paid dearly for her desire.

Matsu Xiangu...

She would pay. As soon as Gen had the capacity to enact retribution, there would be no mercy.
