A Peacekeeper’s Paradise.

Mindabaal, Capitol Aubrey dragged some kid behind him, up to the door of an inn. He knocked loudly, a woman opened the door and her face filled with happiness. Aubrey nudged the kid towards the woman. “Found him off in some restaurants’ garbage.” Aubrey said. The woman just ignored him and tossed a credit bag his way. The merc nodded and turned to walk away

Aubrey wore a black leather jacket and his signature black jeans as he walked away from the inn. His DL-18 blaster pistol strapped to his hip and a smile on his face.

He would sigh, what was he going to do next, it’s not like he knew the planet. He barely even made it to the inn. He sighed as he leaned against a building and pulled out a cigarette. After lighting it, he’d take a drag. “Feth. A tour of this place would be great. That is if I can even find someone.” Aubrey said aloud. He looked to the bright sky, blowing out a bit of smoke.

He didn’t know much of the governing faction of the world, nor did he care very much. But maybe they’d be interesting enough for Aubrey to stick around.

It was a normal day for Lux, he strolled throught the streets flanked by a small team of peacekeepers. It was impotant for him to maintain a good image among the people and that only happened if they saw him as a living breathing person. His team took him to a residential area full restaurants and people walking around, one sight managed to catch his eye a man who he assumed was a mercenary of some kind escorting a child. Following the pair back to what he could only guess was the childs mother she tossed the man some credits and took her child.

he heard the man say "Feth. A tour of this place would be great. That is if I can even find someone."

He made his way closer to the man but stopped hald way turning to his team "Why don't you guys stay back a bit we don't want to scare off our guest I want him to be relaxed as possible, so maintain a repectfully distance"

He began walking again this time alone stopping just behind the mercenary "Hello I would be more than happy to give you a tour around, am correct in assuming that your a mercenary or bounty hunter of some kind? It's rare that we get people from your profession on our planet so I think it's only right that you get a personal tour by the Presdient."

Aubrey finished his cigarette just as a voice sounded from behind him. Turning his head just enough, he would see the source of the voice, a man. Giving a nod, Aubrey would fully turn to the man.

“That’s very accurate. I am a mercenary.” Aubrey said with a sly grin, the merc wondered why not many in his profession visited. Out of the corner of his eye he would see a team of men standing at attention a good distance away. He would smirk. Security detail. “I would much appreciate a tour of your fine city Mr. President.” Aubrey smiled brightly. The man would look the president up and down.

“Okay lets start this tour off, maybe you can tell me about your government along the way.” Aubrey said. “Oh I’m Aubrey by the way.”

[member="Lux Berooken"]

He smiled and walked forward at a slow pace that was good for conversations "Were a new Empire but a strong one the kind of empire that people tend to overlook" his eyes darkened just slightly " As you can guess from the title the president is the one that runs the government, the men dressed in white are peacekeepers they serve as the bulk of armed forces they keep the peace for our people and in return the people pay taxes and fees that pay them."

He stopped and pointed to the men trailing them "Those gentleman are my personal security even though this is probably one of the safest cities in the galaxy we have people that don't agree with my government they are being.... reeducated it's a slow process but I do believe in ruling by consensus. Our society puts a great deal of importance on people who fight for a living, for people who protect, I think you would do well here. Speaking of which what made you want to be a mercenary in the first place it seems so odd to go from place to place looking for jobs when you could just work for one person?"

Aubrey walked along with the President as he explained his government. Aubrey was never one for politics, or at least from what he remembers. He was the type of person who ignored things like that, and focused on the payoff. The man stopped along with the president as he turned and pointed to the soldiers in white, explaining that they were his personal security. The mercenary would nod.

"Security is a big part of any government. If you can protect yourself and your people, then it doesn't matter what type of leader you are." Aubrey said as he nodded to the security force. "They keep you safe, so you can keep your people safe." Aubrey paused. "Even if it means you need to reeducate a few of the common citizens. A small price for actual peace."

Aubrey stood silent for a second. Thinking about why he became a mercenary. "I'm not too sure why I became a mercenary. But I know why I continue to do it. To find my old partner Josh, maybe I'll find a lead on his disappearance." Aubrey sighed. Thinking about what the president said about working for one person instead of place to place.

"It's always been that way, never really worked with the same crew twice." Aubrey said shortly, that was the rule he made after Josh's disappearance. Nevertheless, Aubrey was intrigued. He would turn to the president and look him in the eye. "What are you offering?" Aubrey asked with a smile, all the while, trying to read the Man's face.

Looking the other man in the eyes Lux spoke his voice came out steady "You have to know that working for a goverment comes with many beneifts one being that you have a home to come back to, a cause that you can care about, and like you said people to protect. Consider serving us permanently and you will have the full backing of the armed forces of our empire and any resource that you may need."

He moved a stray hair out of his face and looked off towards the sun "I'm sure that we can help you try and track down your friend consider it a ….personal favor from me to you the galaxy can be a very lonely place and we all need friends and allies. Having me as an ally and friend would only strengthen your reputation and increase the price that people are willing to pay for your services, but I'm not offering you all this out of the kindness of my heart we need someone of your talents to do things that regular soldiers can't do. I need someone that knows how to do things without drawing much attention to them."

He turned back to [member="Aubrey Landcaster"] "So what do you say Aubrey, are you interested in being more than a one man show?"

Aubrey could see why the man before him was president, he was a very good politician. The way he spoke made Aubrey want to follow him. The president spoke of having a home to go to, people to protect. better more, a cause to fight for.Aubrey nodded at that, He looked down at his feet for a second, then to the president. With a grin on his face he nodded again. "Well, I have been tired of sleeping in random ships' cargo holds." He laughed. At the mention of Josh, Aubrey instantly stopped laughing and nearly teared up.

"You don't know how much all this means to me. All of it." Aubrey said as he looked to the sky. It was obviously too good a deal to pass up, Aubrey looked to the president. He was roughly the same age as the merc, Aubrey wondered how the man could have everything, while Aubrey barely had a bag of credits to his name. It didn't matter though. Aubrey met [member="Lux Berooken"]'s gaze as the man asked if he was interested. The mercenary smiled brightly and put his hand out.

"Of course Mr. President, how could I not. I'll do the things you need, The things your Peacekeepers are not equipped for. In return all I ask, is a placeof my own, and people to protect. Josh is a strong man, we'll find him eventually, faster now with your help." Aubrey said He would run a hand through his hair and chuckle softly. "Though I don't expect your favor to come lightly. What do you have in store?" Aubrey said as he turned back around and took a step "Shall we" Aubrey said as he started to walk, allowing time or the president to catch up.

"You appear to be a generous man Mr. President."

Generous he almost smiled at the word, of course it was true Lux could be anything to anyone that's what had made him such a masterful politician but that was just a persona that he put on. The real him was much more calculating and only cared about protecting his interest all this the empire that he had built was a way to achieve his goals and he knew an asset when he saw one.

The heels of his shoes clacked on the ground as he went to catch up with the mercenary, they were getting closer to the capitol square now the seat of power in the ever expanding empire and the location of one of Lux's many homes. He liked it, the square it was always busy with things to do and people it reminded him of his own home planet of Sarapin and how his own family spent time in a square resembling this for hours doing nothing bust exploring, but those days were long gone.

"I have many things in store chief among them is to expand this empire to other planets, but to simply things you won't be lacking for targets and if your someone who craves action and adventure they'll be plenty of that as well." He pointed to some of the people walking in the square "I would like to welcome you to government square, this is where we run the government and make major decisions and if you like this can also be your home, we have a number of very stylish apartments reserved for high ranking members of the government which I consider someone of your skills to be."

He hadn't thought about what kind of title to give Aubrey he was going to have to be separate from the regular peacekeeping corps but maybe he could give him some sort of officer designation so that people wouldn't ask to many questions "I was thinking about what your official role would be with us where to put you in our command structure but I don't think you need or want a supervisor, I thinking something along the lines that you pick from our best troops make yourself a team and then I'll give you a set of objectives, how you accomplish them will be up to you."

The way the president carried himself made Aubrey want to follow him, he shook his head at that. He was never one to follow others, he preferred to make his own path. However, he would make an acception in this instance, he believed that [member="Lux Berooken"] was a fine leader from what he saw so far. He definitely would keep his guard up though: it did seem too good to be true. Aubrey glanced behind to check if the Peacekeepers were still following, and surprise they were.

Aubrey was glad to hear he wouldn’t be out of work, he’d need jumping from job to job for a while, and if he was being honest, he was tired of being alone. While he didn’t really show it on the outside, on the inside he was hurt. The mercenary smiled as they entered the square. It was bustling with activity. His ears perked up when the president asked if he’d like one of apartments that was reserved for high positions of government. Aubrey smiled. “Really? You sure?” Aubrey said with a grin. He looked around the square. Before bringing his gaze back to the president. He explained where he felt Aubrey would be in the command structure. Aubrey listened intensely as he spoke.

“That sounds like a good plan. When do we get started?” Aubrey smirked. He looked over to the security force. Then to the president.

“Tell me. How did you become president? As far as I can tell, we’re around the same age. I’m interested in hearing the story” Aubrey said as he fixed his shirt.

How he landed the position of Presdient was a pretty intersting situation. if he were being honest he would say that it was the result of ploting and carefully planned assassinations that led to him being in the right place at the right time to take over. But that was a story that were better left never being known by anyone, he would settle for a lie that had some truth to it.

"I was with the New Republic served as a member of the senate, things were great and people were happy but then of course things started to change people put there own personal interest above those of the people. It was an important lesson for me watching that government fall."

He hated thinking about the New Republic he had gone into the government and tried his best but things haven't gone the way that he wanted and he'd been forced to flee his own home and make a new one on the other side of the galaxy.

"What I'm trying to do here is make an Empire that can expand and that functions in an orderly fashion, where everyone agrees on what the government does and those who don't know to keep there opinions to themselves. I want to bring peace to a very chatic galaxy."
