Private A New Look

Peace Station, 2311 hours

Karra let out a heavy sigh, staring blankly at her reflection in the mirror as it blankly stared back. In some ways, it felt like this was something long overdue, a fresh change for a new future, but she would be remiss if she didn't feel a small sense of loss. A face was important, and even for a shapeshifter it was easy to get attached, so giving it up for a new one was something of a sad moment for her too. Still, it was something that she felt needed to happen, so now the question became a case of what face to choose?

That was the driving question that had prompted her to invite an onlooker for this process - Ura Iolar, another shapeshifter, and hopefully one that was better with social conventions. As someon that had trouble conveying meaning and proper tone, as well as understanding them, she lacked the finer points of a bedside manner, or just any manners at all, so she needed a more adjusted opinion to help her choose a face people could feel comfortable with. After all, if she could put them at ease with her words, she could at least try to make herself look comforting, that was some form of consolation, right...?

While Ura generally lacked a "face" so to speak, she was more then happy to help a fellow shapeshifter. It was interesting to say the least. A happiness bled off her through the Force. She may not have physically been about to show her emotions, for the most part, but she couldn't hide them from Force users. Even with her species oddities, she'd been around carbon-based sentients long enough to have a decent idea of what would be a "good" face. It part she was just happy to be chosen to help. The Lervon almost flowed around, looking at Karra for a second.

"So you want a more mature face, but one that's also... comfortable?"

Strangely enough, though she had invited the guest herself, Karra had also somehow completely forgotten that she was there in those few moments of preening. Ura's voice quickly reminded her that someone else was with her though, the Knight freezing for a moment before quickly brushing her hair over her shoulders in a vain attempt to cover her tracks, so to speak. Not that there was anything wrong with looking at herself right now, the whole point was appearances after all, but embarrassment was a strange concept. Karra turned to look at Ura, her hands trying to illustrate her point as she talked.
"Um, something like that," She said slowly, pursing her lips in thought. Thinking thoughts was easy enough, it was getting them out in a non-creepy or confusing way that she had trouble with. "It's more a case of...I don't have a good bedside manner, I can be bluntly truthful, though I try to be gentle with it...I want, at the very least, to have a face that says experience, wisdom, but I want it to be trustworthy as well, calming, kind of like a motherly exuberance. Does that sound weird? It sounds weird, doesn't it?"

Ura simply nodded to Karra, almost seeming to flow as she rounded the Knight. It was just a quality in how Lervon moved. She thought for a second, finally thinking of something. "I think I understand. With your bedside manor not being great, you want something more... calming. Something to put people more at ease."

Karra's face lit up a little at the reply, a grin spreading across her lips. After a long while of having to explain and re-explain herself to people, it was nice to have someone that was able to get her, even if it was only for one sentence.
"Yeah, exactly!" She exclaimed, letting out a satisfied sigh. One train of thought down, onto the next, and the main point.

She looked herself up and down in the mirror, furrowing a brow as faces and images crossed through her mind. So many faces looked appealing, but only one of them would really work for her, the trouble lay in choosing it. Well, they had plenty of time, so it was probably best to just cycle through a few of them and see what worked in Ura's eyes. Karra cleared her throat and straightened up, exhaling heavily before her body went still. For a moment, there was nothing, but then her skin began to quiver slightly, pores stretching a little, elogating until everything began to sag, like chocolate being melted under a flame. The face of Karra Tor, as she was, vanished beneath foldings of skin and liquifying flesh. It seemed as if she was about to collapse to the floor as a puddle, but as quickly as it began, it ended again, the liquid halting and retreating back, brown liquid regenerating into a vaguely human-like shape until...

Karra pursed her lips again, new eyes scanning new flesh and new muscles. She did a few test movements, scrunching her face together and jumping up and down, spreading her arms out and checking how tall she was, etc. The blonde young soft face had been replaced with an even smaller brunette, still as childish as before, if not more so. "Hmmm, she feels a bit more piercing, confident, buuuut something else is off, can't quite place it," She said, a more rolling accent squeaking out her mouth. "What do you think Ura?"

The New Face

Ura watched as the shapeshifter began to change her appearance, slowly looking a little older, and going from blonde to brunette. The Lervon looked the form over, though she could tell Karra wasn’t quite... accepting it as much. She tilted her head, looking at everything.

“Hm.... Maybe the face looks more like someone who would be... witty? Kind of light hearted.”
