A new life

Emily Beleren

Reborn through fire
Phoenix. The everlasting fire, still undefeated. It was a name Emily had grown used to, mostly because she had no other name. In truth, she was getting rather tired of it. So she could take down anything they threw at her. So what. She wanted adventure. Something to actually challenge her for once, instead of knowing she could easily beat whatever lay in her path. Walking into the chamber that lay beneath the arena, she sat down for a moment, staring at her hand intently as it lit on fire. To this day, it still interested her greatly how she'd come to have the power. She woke up one day, and she could suddenly use it. Nothing came to memory of before that day. Maybe someday, she could remember...

Alas the arena! In a move unbecoming of the young spacer woman Vassara had visited it. The gladiatorial games and the freakish crowds that watched them both perplexed and enthralled her in their mystery. To a woman who was half insane from the deep space exploration, and multitude of combat, it was glorious.

Of course the real reason she was here was to network, possibly find some more jobs. The life of a spacer was rough, and Silas and her often found themselves broke and destitute. So far they had carved out an ok living, but she needed more.

Vassara strolled through the bleachers, taking her seat and kicking back. She was clad in her regular Black coat and trousers with the red trim, a shotgun in its leather sheath at her back.

"I hope this turns out to be a good match!" Silas roared, half drunk and spilling his beer.

Vassara winked.

"My sources tell me the match is rigged, so if all goes well, we will ten thousand credits richer!"

Emily Beleren

Reborn through fire
As she worked at the knots in her muscles, Emily readied herself for the next match. What was it going to be this time? Aklay? Rancor? They always tried to give her something massive in size, though it never did much to phase her. Perhaps they were tamed? It was possible; maybe that's why they were always easy. The idea now in her head, she'd make sure to talk to the arena master about that sometime. If she wasn't being tested for the full extent of her abilities... there was a serious problem there. And there it was. The sound of the crowd roaring again. It was time to get back out there. Making her way back to the entrance, the sound of a menacing roar filled her ears, followed by complete silence. That was a sound she'd never heard before... Walking into the arena, her vision was taken in full by a dark red beast with wings. Was that a..... "...the arkanian dragon! In the other corner, the unstoppable Phoenix! Fighting fire with fire for the ultimate battle!" In her peripheral vision, she could see a layer of transparent shields rise up to protect the crowd. Oh. Well this would be fun. Emily actually found herself grinning as she walked out onto the sandy floor of the huge arena, her fists already burning hot. This would actually be a good fight, it seemed.

Vassaras eyes widened at the sight of the Dragon. They were quite rare and dangerous as the void itself. One blast of breath could wipe you off the map for good. The crowd took to their feet and roared with thunderous applause and shouts. Vassara jumped on the seat, looking over their heads to see the dragons opponent.

As soon as she laid eyes on Emily she got that familiar tingle. She was a forcer?

Remaining silent she watched in interest. If the woman survived this, she would be sure to go and meet her.
