Time had passed since the battle for Abregado-rae - not enough to forget about it, but enough for those involved to recover and the planet to fall into the grip of the Sith Covenant. Revna spent a good portion of time recovering her energy and strength after expending much of it during the battle, and going over the after-action reports, and even gracing the destroyed planet’s surface once again to do a little sight seeing at the only remaining starport.
But there was one other thing that had taken up much of her attention in the short while after the battle: an orphaned young girl that Revna had pulled from the rubble and the arms of her dead mother.
The first couple of weeks with the little one had been rough, for Revna and the medical staff aboard the Vindicator. The little girl was going through her grief process - and each day was an adventure to see which facet of grief would reveal itself to the ship's staff.
Some days were better than others, that was for certain.
Revna tried to be there as much as she could, hoping that her proximity through the little girl’s grief would allow some sort of bond to develop - but it was a slow process. The little Sith woman had ventured forth from the ship at some point and did some clothes shopping, and brought back several outfits for the little girl to choose from, along with some toys and other things to help ease the orphan into her new life situation. It didn’t fix the trauma the girl had suffered through, and it certainly couldn't bring her mother and father back, but it at least helped her to see Revna as someone who provided safety and comfort.
At least, that was hope anyway.
Luckily, the girl had fallen in love with a stuffed bantha toy Revna had returned with (she had even given Revna a very rare smile), and had chosen a couple of new outfits - her favorite being a lavender colored set, the shirt sporting little sequins that made up the image of a cute kitten.
But even with all this, Revna found that she struggled to truly connect with the little girl, whose name she had discovered was Astrid.
Unlike Veradun, who had been a proper orphan who didn’t remember his parents and thus had attached himself quite easily to Revna, this little girl was far more wary and distrusting of the people around her. In the time she had spent getting to know the girl, Revna had also noticed something peculiar:
She seemed more relaxed around male figures than female ones.
So Revna sent a holomessage to both her Father, Darth Strosius, and her ascended Apprentice, Varin Mortifer. She asked them both to come to her ship, for she had something to show them. She didn’t tell them what it was, and she was curious (and honestly a little apprehensive) of their reactions upon seeing the little girl Revna had taken under her wing. She suspected her Father at least would be over the moon about the newest addition to their little family - but she wasn’t entirely sure about how Varin might react.
She knew there was only one way to find out, and so the message was sent and thus she waited for their responses and arrival.
