Private A Necromancer Returns

The halls of the large complex on Bastion were silent, save for the lone footsteps ringing through it. A cloaked figure, dragging the body of a Diarchy soldier, made their way through the halls towards the Council Chamber of the large capital building. Any other guards the figure passed were slammed to the walls, clutching their throats as they got strangled by the force until they passed out; the one who commands these soldiers wouldn't take kindly to all their guards being slaughtered, and the figure was in a generous mood this day.

Eventually, they were met with the doors leading to the Council Chamber and they raised their hand to it, forcing the doors open as if they couldn't open them normally. As they stepped inside, they threw the body of the guard next to them before facing one of the ones in charge of the Diarchy: their old friend, Diarch Reign Diarch Reign . The figure removed their hood to reveal themselves to the Diarch, trying to be as dramatic as possible for their overdue return.

"Have I really been gone for so long the guards don't even recognise me anymore? How tragic."

His voice rang out in mock hurt, clearly not feeling any negative feelings about it at all.

"Reign, my old friend. Guess who's back?"

Reign had felt him before he saw him, as well as the sudden spike of fear in the minds of the guards present. It was something the Diarch hadn't felt in some time, the Necromancer had disappeared, telling no one of his destination.

And here he was now, entering the room. As Reign looked up from his seat he eyed the other man.

"I see you haven't lost your flair for the dramatic, my old friend"

He looked at the guard on the ground then, alive, but shaken.

"I would be surprised if he recognized you, he's relatively new and you did disappear on us for a while there. Tell me, what did you get up to? Could have used you when we faced a horde of undead just last month"

His tone seemed heavy but there was a light in the Diarch's eyes. Nexion had always proved a bit of a foil for him, and while the man could be abrasive, the Diarch had missed him.

Nexion released his usual laugh, but it was noticeably more genuine, as though he really was happy to be here again. He turned to the soldier on the ground before quickly stabbing him through the heart with his lightsaber, the crimson blade flashing briefly before it was back on his belt once more. Green smoke then released from his hand, entering the body of the guard as it began to rise as an undead.

"Yes, I heard about that incident, was very tempted to return once I felt it. But alas, I thought of it as a sign. The undead rose against the Diarchy and you clearly survived it. As such, whoever or whatever caused it clearly showed me they couldn't use those corpses well. So, I thought it was a sign that I should return to remind you that you have the undead under your command through me... well, 'command' is a strong word. You have connections with the undead through me, shall we say."

Nexion wandered the Council Chamber before sitting down, on who's chair he didn't really care.

"As for me and what I've been up to: I've been on my own... journey of self discovery, let's say. Surely you've noticed a difference in presence. Familiar, yet off?"

He leaned in close, his signature smile (one Reign had seen countless times) widening as it always did.

"I died, Reign. Dead as this guard here."
