Private A Name in Chains

The Spear III groaned as it cut through the skies above Hoylin, one engine coughing smoke as consoles sparked around him and the ship protesting every kilometer closer to the surface. He kept her steady, for now, gloved hands on the controls and refusing to let the old girl die just yet. She had been through worse, Fett decided, though maybe that was something of a lie to soothe the thoughts this might be her end.

Hoylin was far from a first choice, maybe even somewhere closer to last. A system with any amount of Mandalorian people was somewhere low, low on the list. Those with Clan Fett even lower. Too much troublesome drama, and none that was undeserved given all this particular Fett had done.

Though with the damage done to his ship, he couldn't hope to scrape by to the nearest shadowport. Even then, that presented its own troubles.

The landing was ugly. Metal screamed against durasteel, stabilizers failing, dust blooming across the ridge. When the Spear III finally settled with a thunk, half-dead and listing to one side, Fett sat in the silence of the cockpit for a moment. "Hnh," he groaned. The ramp lowered with sputtering sparks and the door jammed halfway up, forcing Fett to duck underneath.

For all his credits, they wouldn't get him very far here of all places. It was a different kind of currency.

Prior to the crash...
A Mandalorian rushed over to Careena, urgency in his step as he spoke, "Alor... Our perimeter sensors have been tripped. We're tracking a ship heading in the direction of the Morut." The Fett matriarch was knelt within their makeshift field of warrior graves, looking off to the side briefly before speaking, "The High Republic?" The Fett clansman shook his head, "No Alor...It looks to be a lone vessel." The Fett stood as she picked her helmet from the ground and slipped it on. "Track its trajectory and where it's headed. Keep me updated. Goran, Tamryn, Ay'ala, with me."
An intruder was an intruder all the same, whether High Republic or not, the location of a Neo-Crusader encampment in enemy territory was to be kept a secret at all costs. Three Mandalorians in Careena's presence nodded in silence as they moved with Careena, en route to the projected location for where the ship was expected to arrive at.
At the crash site...
The sounds of blasters clicking were heard as Koda stepped out, several Mandalorians stepping out from the shadows and foliage with weapons raised and trained on the individual. A familiar voice to Koda could be heard as the air shimmered less than a few meters out from where the ramp was, the environment seeming to tessellate as the optical camouflage that Careena wore on her armor deactivated. Her worn grey armor was still covered in fresh splatters of blood. "It's been a while...Koda."
The Alor of Clan Fett stood at partial rest, her rifle held in a relaxed position, its barrel pointed towards the ground off to the side. The blasters of her companions, however, remained trained on the legendary bounty hunter, with only Careena being the one relaxed in their current situation. The location of the Morut was not shared with many, least of all Mandalorians that did not sympathize with the Neo-Crusaders or Carduul Akahl Carduul Akahl . The group was wary as to how Koda would have found them if not by sheer, dumb luck or fate - Careena was the only one who knew otherwise.
The last time Careena had seen Koda was with the Neo-Crusaders, granted he was there for his own reasons, snuffing out the last pockets of resistance in the Dark Empire before its collapse. While Koda was never committed to the cause as deeply as she was, it remained a fond memory for both the past and present Alor of Clan Fett to fight alongside one another. "I trust that this is all a complete coincidence and you did not bring any trouble to my doorstep?"
It seemed fate had seen fit to have their paths cross once again. Whether it brought good or ill tidings remained to be seen.

He was busy raising the jammed door, pushing as the metal screeched with a grinding, rasping noise. The sound of rustling foliage and readying blasters began to whir behind him, with Fett closing his eyes behind his helmet with a soft, faint sigh. Expecting them, though maybe not so soon. He turned about, unarmed as he ever could be in a suit of armour that turned someone into a weapons platform.

"I lost them in the jump," his hands resting by his side, "This was as far as the ship would make it. Anywhere else was a gamble."

A step forwards, down the ramp.

"I can pay for the repairs."

A simple gesture from Careena and the blasters from the other Mandalorians were lowered. She lifted her rifle and slung it over her shoulder before reaching down to her belt. She produced a small device as she activated it and slapped it onto the hull of the ship, transmitting an encrypted signal back to the Morut, signalling for a team to recover the wreck and take it back. She stood off to the side of Koda, sighing quietly and shaking her head.
"You should know by now your credits don't mean anything here Koda. Least of all to our people, or have you forgotten?"
She gestured with her head as she pointed off in the direction where her other companions were already disappearing off into. "Do I want to ask what kind of trouble you've gotten yourself into?" she asked on a softer note.
