A Murder Most Foul...

There was little that Khonsu could say about the world of Lipsec. While the system was of some historical importance, as its namesake was given over to a hyperlane that connected this disparate world to the greater universe, as it meant nothing to the mercenary. He cared little for the Imperial citizens that lived out their daily lives, and the monuments they erected to exonerate their various heads of state. The man couldn't even be bothered to admire the view, as his contracted shuttle had made the descent towards the planet. What glories and splendours this world could've offered, were despoiled by the monolithic structures that the second incarnation of the First Order had erected - showing the galaxy that this world was apart of their resurgent Stellar Empire.

To keep his mind occupied, as they were soon engulfed by the ornate and ostentatious monument to their rampant imperialism, the Thyrsian busied himself with recounting the details of his operation, and the very reason why he had come to visit this insignificant world deep within the Order’s clutches. He was hired, personally, by some mysterious individual to intercept a package of sorts that was being transferred throughout the Unknown Regions. As was the tradition for snatch and grab jobs like this, the contractor had made certain that his agent in the field wouldn’t know the contents of what was inside the container, despite all the questions that he had asked. While a part of him was curious to know what he was going to collect, it wasn’t really worth the effort to explore that avenue further.

Whatever it was, Khonsu only hoped that the man would make it worth his while - as if he was caught - it was doubtful the Order would like to continue his organization’s retained contract. That wasn’t even bothering to mention what they would do with him before that fateful terminus, as it was more than likely he would be given off to some sadistic officer within the Security Bureau and flogged until the knotted tails had scourged his back clean.Thankfully, before his mind could further delve into the possibilities that would occur should he get caught, the shuttle had come in for a landing and had allowed him to disembark without further delay. Embraced by the technological terrors that dotted the surface of Lipsec, the Thyrsian made his way towards planetary customs and hoped that the programmed holographic disguise was able to defeat their security.

He had elected to try a similar method of infiltration here, although unlike Hapes, he didn’t start out his journey in custody and hope for the best. Having learned, and become aware of how strictly regulated the process was out here in the Unknown Regions, it was doubtful that he’d be able to find someone on short notice to be his mole on the inside.

Nevertheless, while it would’ve made the process more entertaining and slightly aggravating as he’d have to be shackled again, Khonsu was more relaxed this time around. He didn’t have to fill some random Hapan’s shoes or even cloak himself in someone else’s projected flesh. The man had chosen to arrive as himself and thus was truly at ease. Well, at least until it was his turn to step forward and through the detector array. As he stepped forward, he placed both of his bare hands on his head and allowed the technicians to go about their work. Their fingers danced across the twinned consoles, as the array span about his person - drinking in the very details of his body. After several moments, the apparatus chimed positively and the Thyrsian was directed out so that another would be able to take his place. While he wasn’t sure if they had seen through his disguise, or noted that something was out of place, it seemed that the multi-spectrum disguise had held up its end of the bargain.

Now, it was his turn to uphold his…

As the curtain of night began to blanket the entirety of the Capital City, Khonsu had elected to shed his holographic disguise and shrouded himself - from head to toe - in the lusterless folds of his skin-tight stealth suit. With his dark-skinned flesh nearly matching the woven shadows that embraced his muscular figure, only his eyes would be seen should the integrated cloaking device fail him in the midst of the operation. Although he had grown accustomed to following through with the brute force method and had already started to miss the killing power of his primary weapon, the man had found himself favouring his suppressed sidearm, that was loaded to the brim with acidic slugs. Had he been detected, the Thyrsian would at least be able to take comfort in the knowledge that whatever spotted him wouldn’t live long enough to pass the message forward.

Well, that was until the biometric alert was pulsed through the system. It was something that he had learned about in his days working for the Order, during their renewed conflicts with the neighbouring Alliance. The Stormtrooper armour was outfitted with a biometric sensor that transmitted their data back towards a hub of sorts, that kept track of every active duty member of the corps. Something that played a pivotal role in the defence of the FIV Kuragin, before it was forcibly self-destructed and scattered amongst the system after the station’s hyperdrive unit was taken over by hostile forces. That meant if he didn’t shoot them in the head, and dissolve the connection before it was transmitted, the alarm would be raised and all hell would be set loose. Thankfully, if the slug connected at the right spot, and if the Trooper died when the corrosive had chewed through his armour, their database would display that the connection was lost.

As it was something that happened all the time, it would give Khonsu all the time he would need to infiltrate the facility and collect what he had come for.

From what the Thyrsian was told before this mission began, the package was being held in a standard planetary installation that was closely monitored by several agents of the Security Bureau. Not to mention, the fields surrounding the installation were cleared of any obscuring obstacle and constantly patrolled by several of the Intelligence Agency’s own militant wing. Sadly, what couldn’t be gleaned, was if they were Stormtroopers - or if they were simply Army Regulars with upgraded equipment. In the end, it didn’t matter what they had stationed there, so long as his cloaking field held out and he didn’t trip any alarms. They wouldn’t be an issue if they weren’t aware of a lone, solitary figure breaking into their guarded structure.

As the appointed hour had come to pass, Khonsu had activated his cloaking device and set off towards the facility. At the outskirts, he had managed to narrowly avoid detection by vaulting over the erected infrared laser traps and ducking underneath the passively thrumming death fence that encapsulated the exterior of the facility. From there, the Mercenary had dodged the foot-patrols of circuiting soldiers - noting that their number had mostly comprised of ivory-clad Stormtroopers with sniffing hounds lashed to their wrists - and somehow managed to make it into the installation without drawing any undue attention. Then, as he made his approach towards one of the many side entrances, his deft fingers tore off the housing that surrounded one of the access terminals and began rewiring the intricate system within. It was doubtful that such an act of forceful intrusion would draw anyone’s notice as the slice was done manually, which would only show up as an interruption on any sensors keeping track of the comings and goings of their operatives in the field.

So far, everything had been progressing swimmingly.

That was all about to change as the Mercenary watched the doors retract into their housings and was permitted access to the facility. Though he didn’t know it, there was an obstacle that would block his path, once he had gotten into the holding area. Then, when his cloaking device would fail him, and the man found himself at the mercy of another, there was no other choice but to fight.
