A meeting of Captains (Corvetta Salvo)

Jace Trent

"I aim to misbehave...
Dark times were coming. The Galaxy was facing war...again. War had a tendency to bring out the best, and worst in people. The passionate ones always pushed themselves on the front lines, and the shrewd ones gathered power.

Jace was neither passionate nor shrewd. He had served the Galaxy, he had bled for the Galaxy. Once upon a time, he had been a soldier, but he served his time and now served himself.
He had no stake in the coming wars, but he wouldn't shy away from profiting from it. However, it was becoming more dangerous to make credits. He and his partner had been doing well on their own, but it was getting more and more risky.
That's why he decided to branch out and make some new friends.

He sat in his favorite corner booth at the Afterburner cafe, located in the capitol city of Worlport on Ord Mantell.
Jace wore his favorite red shirt and suspenders that connected to his brown trousers. His DL-44 hung low on his hip and sported his signature Brown coat.
Charlie, the bartender had given Jace a bottle of Corellian whiskey, and two glasses.
The second glass was for the guest he was waiting for. Captain [member="Corvetta Salvo"], of the Lost Cause.
This was to be a friendly meeting of Captains, to determine if they would be compatible as allies.
And so he waited...

Ord Mantell was the classic smuggler's paradise--or maybe just a smuggler's hangout. It was a toss-up with Corellia. But either world was practically synonymous with flyers' territory, so it was no surprise to meet her contact on this planet, and--naturally--in a bar. She could not have thought of a better place to meet up, herself.

Wanting to make a good impression, Corvetta sauntered into the venue in her dirtiest pair of cargoes but with her favorite, pristine pilot's coat--the one that had the snazzy blast-skirt that draped all the way down to her calves. Of course, her goggles she never actually wore as goggles were strapped over her hair in their eternal position to complete the picture. She was a flygirl and proud of it.

This Jace guy seemed to be prepared. She raised her eyebrows at the glass in front of the empty seat, assuming it was for her. What a classy guy! She grinned and straddled the bar stool before sitting down. "Hey there, champ. Ditched by your girlfriend?" She hoped she had the right man. Otherwise, things could get awkward real fast here.

"I aim to misbehave...
Jace stood up briefly to shake her in in greeting before sitting back down. She would see the gold Corellian stripe that ran don the leg of his trousers.
She was snarky and had a sense of humor, they would get along famously!

Jace chuckled at her quip. "She didn't ditch me today, she's just taking some poor sap for all he's worth in a game of Sabaac."
He of course was talking about Eliza Steele, the love of his life, and business partner.

He picked up the bottle of aged Corellian whiskey, (one of the perks of being on a first name basis with the bartender) and poured some into the two glasses. He then slid one in front of the new arrival and held his own up for a toast. "To you, Captain" [member="Corvetta Salvo"]

Good sign: she had not picked out the wrong guy. And he shared in her humor.

"Well..." Corvetta started as they raised their glasses, interrupting herself with a sip of the whiskey--hard stuff. She would need to watch herself with this type of drink. "Thing is, I'm just the pilot. We don't actually have a cap unless you're runnin' about registration. But then that would be me..." She chuckled and brushed some of her streaked hair behind her shoulder.

"So, what are we drifting for here, buster? You said you had a girlfriend, and I'm not really into... that stuff." The top of her nose wrinkled as she withheld her laughter amidst another sip of the Corellian beverage. She was actually somewhat envious of him, having found his happiness in a partner. But for now, she was more than satisfied with her good friends, though the desire was still present.

"If you're pushing for tricks, I charge for lessons," she added, clicking her tongue playfully as she moved on from her thoughts.

"I aim to misbehave...
Jace gave her a smirk then downed his shot, enjoying the burn.
"I wouldn't dare put a label on Eliza, cause she'd shoot me dead faster than you can blink, but no, that's not why I'm here" He cleared his throat and and poured another round for them.
His tone took on a more serious edge as he continued
"The galaxy is getting smaller. The Sith, the Jedi, The Pubs, and hell, even the jocks with the T-Visors are getting all rough like. That makes for lots of jobs...but that also makes them more bloody. I'm trying to make friends. And you, you gotta friendly face" [member="Corvetta Salvo"]

Corvetta grinned the widest grin and dropped her eyes to her glass, somewhat flattered. After a quick sip of her refilled whiskey, she swiveled on her seat to face Jace directly. "I agree. Could use some chums around this wheel and there's just no way Lost Cause can take on the whole load of snot by itself." The flygirl shrugged matter-of-factly.

"So, Jacer... What did ya have in mind? And what kind of cranker you flyin'?" She anchored her elbow and leaned against the bar, biting at one of her nails.

Jace nodded, relieved that she was smart enough to see the benefit of having friends. And just like that, they were already talking ships.
He smiled with pride as he talked about his boat. "I'm Captain of the Defiance. She's an Maka Eekai L4000 transport. She's a big old cranker, loads of cargo space, I can definitely carry my own when it comes to big hauls. I'm fixin her up a bit to make her teeth a little sharper, if ya know what I mean...?"
He took a sip of his whiskey.
"I'd be more than happy to lend a hand if you need. I've been at this gig for awhile now, had a crew and everything. But kids these days, always going after the more shiny things" [member="Corvetta Salvo"]

Corvetta smiled apologetically. "Yeah, kids these days..." She laughed, considering how she was still somewhat of a youth herself. "Sorry to hear that, bud."

Downing the remainder of her drink, the pilot told him how it was. "I'm with a full crew right now. And I'd hate to lose my friends to your ship." The girl shrugged, simpering honestly. "But I know some contacts and I might be able to splice ya. Y'know, get you dustin' hyper again with some fresh grease.

"Also..." She looked around the bar to make sure no one was paying undue attention to them and leaned in to whisper to Jace, almost comically. She could be a brazenly awkward type. "We've got an offer to pitch into Cray-land for multiple dumps. No way are we gonna be able to handle all of it ourselves. I think our crew might be willing to split the deal with you, 'specially since ya got the upgrades on your toad." She pulled on a few strands of her hair casually in case anyone had been watching them.

He smiled at her. "Don't you fret about your crew. The Defiance runs quite fine with just Eliza and I....I kinda prefer it that way, it's familiar and all."
His smile widened when she mentioned some work
"That sounds great, give me a time and place and I'll be there!"
He poured one last and offered another toast.
"To our future working relationship"
