A Meeting of Business (Cater)

Officially, Jared Ovmar didn’t have any connections to neither Baktoid, nor Neuro-Saav Corporation. An obscure Count of Serenno managed to assume direct control over Baktoid, and his apprentice Xiangu was his contact person for Neuro-Saav - but to an, admittedly small, company it was known that Ovmar had more than one finger in the proverbial pie.

It came to his attention that the Protectorate had seized assets of Baktoid during the aftermath of the Druckenwell incident, to be more specific: Corellia, Duros and Druckenwell. Ovmar himself wasn’t a prolific or staunch supporter of crashing shipyards into planets, it seemed such a waste of… resources and credits, it would take years - hundreds of ‘em - before the planet was restored to its former glory.

So Baktoid was outlawed, at least it had been until Alli Wren signed over the company to the Count and then stepped back from the entity entirely. With that only one question remained, the question about the fate of the facilities.

Ovmar was here today as an old associate to the Count, he himself was called away to other important endeavours and it was left to the former Sith Lord to negotiate a deal with the Lord Protector that would satisfy all parties.

When his appointment was finally about to start Ovmar was led into the room by one of Cater’s secretaries, he gave him a nod and extended his hand for a shake.

Lord Protector Cater, long time since we last spoke. I hope you are well?

Ayden looked up from his desk as his next appointment came in. A grin came over him that rarely appeared during these sorts of meetings. "High Lord Ovmar. It has been a long time. I hope things aren't too boring for you." He took the offered hand and gave it a firm shake before sitting down. In no time at all, he had pulled out two glasses and a bottle of whiskey. Traditions were hard to put down.

"So what can I do for you today? Not some other spooky fortress of doom project, I hope."

Ovmar smiled at the mention of his gothic stronghold in space, it had truly been… some request. The fact that the Galaxy wasn’t currently filled with gossip about the man’s eccentric taste spoke well about Cater’s capability of keeping such things to himself.

Nothing quite as eccentric as that, don’t worry.’ He said while taking out a small case filled with good ol’ Corellian cigars, that would fit perfectly with the whiskey, Jared offered Ayden one and continued.

You might have heard that Alli Wren relinquished control over Baktoid a few weeks ago.

Ayden blinked in surprise while in the middle of clipping off the end of the offered cigar. After a moment he brought the cigar to his lips and took a deep draw from it, shaking his head in the negative. "I had heard some reports of something like that, but put it off as rumor. I didn't think it was possible for the woman to go and throw the company away. For that matter, I didn't think the company had the nerve to cast her aside." His opinion of Baktoid as a whole wasn't terribly hard to venture a guess at. A number of companies had received lucrative contracts during his reign, but not Baktoid.

"I'll go on a limb here and assume you had a part to do with that?" He grinned and raised his glass up to salute the other man.

In response Ovmar raised his own drink and took a good gulp, before replying. ‘A man never tells, Cater. Count Adrian of Serenno is now formally in control of Baktoid Industrial, he’s busy absorbing the company into the holdings of Neuro-Saav Corporationhttp://starwarsrp.net/topic/35489-neuro-saav-corporation/.

You might already see where I am going with this. There is the question of the current outlawed status that prohibits the company from selling their products in Protectorate Space.

Ayden simply shook his head and smoked on the cigar for a moment. Some people were dense. Others were flat-out stupid. And then there was the likes of Alli Wren. He could form a couple educated guesses as to how that went down, but chose not to indulge them.

"That's a pretty tall question. I suppose it would depend on the manner of their return. Their facilities are already being processed and scrubbed. Some are already being made to serve Protectorate needs. If it's a matter of simply opening the borders to Baktoid products, that could be done relatively painlessly. However, to grant Baktoid rights to build and produce within the Protectorate will be considerably harder." He sighed and took another drag of the cigar before continuing. "Alli Wren's acts over Druckenwell did very serious damage to Baktoid's reputation. I doubt they'll ever be allowed to produce on Druckenwell ever again."

Ovmar took a big gulp, it was clear that the man needed the drink after the words of Cater. It seemed that even the Sith Lord, not Sith Lord needed one after considering just the amount of damage and suffering Wren had caused with the push of a single button.

With a sigh he finally spoke.

‘Think it shows the folly and arrogance of some people, Cater. Still don’t know how Wren thought she’d be able to get away with such an act like that...’

They continued to speak for some time, conversation turning into discussion, turning into hard negotiations. But it was a good kind of negotiation, the kind where in the end both parties had to give some grounds, but in the end got what they had wanted.

In the end it was decided that Neuro-Saav Corporation would pay a token fee for the release of the Duro and Corellia facilities, they would be allowed back in operation and the outlawing of the Baktoid assets would be removed.

In return Neuro-Saav agreed with a transparent business model while working in Protectorate Space. Which equaled to periodic check-ups with government officials in the Protectorate-designated facilities, to ensure that quality was met. (and between the lines to make sure that no kill-switches and the sort would be installed)

The case of Druckenwell was a more complicated matter. There were two issues to the problem, the first was that the facilities in question… were the orbital shipyards, they were gone now and there was no way of getting them back. The other side was that simply starting operating on the planet wouldn’t look too good from any side.

Even with Wren fired and booted, even with Baktoid no longer officially existing. So a new contract was drafted between Neuro-Saav Corporation and the Omega Protectorate.

Neuro-Saav would, for a modest fee, be the first and foremost pioneer in the reconstruction and uplifting of the planet’s infrastructure. They would diligently work alongside the inhabitants, ensure that quality was met and that in the end Druckenwell would be left in a much better position.

Such was the end and conclusion of the negotiations between Cater and Ovmar.
