Grand Admiral, First Order Central Command
Yeah, I haven't swapped over to the hand yet (horrid schedule irl preventing me from doing much at all) but in what spare time I have had I've been plotting out the EotH Navy. In general, I am heavily inspired by the Black Fleet Crisis books and the New Class Modernization Program. What I'd like to see is a roster of ships all specifically designed to complement each other and operate in groups. The following is laid out with that in mind.
Stealth Corvette – 100-200m
- Prowler/Picket/Ferret. Not a dedicated combat ship, designed to supplement a battlegroup and provide powerful sensors, early warning systems, and recon ability. Similar to the one I made for the Sith but more refined.
Escort Corvette – 150-200m
- General Support corvette. Can be used to fill in gaps in a battlegroup or as a patrol ship.
Fleet Tender - ~200m
- More for color than anything, but they're a relatively un-mentioned aspect of Star Wars navies that would really be an absolute necessity.
Escort Frigate – 400m
- Anti-Fighter/General Support. See corvette above, but bigger!
Assault Frigate – 400m
- Powerful forward firepower, designed to break enemy formations. Quick and tough with powerful forward-facing weapons. Used as a first strike unit in battlegroups to disrupt enemy formations, or exploit holes and target support ships. Not designed for stand-up fights.
Escort Carrier – 600m
- Small and fast with lots of strike craft. Pretty self-explanatory.
Light Cruiser – 500m
- Quick, Anti-Fighter, Limited Squadrons, Moderate Firepower. Basically an anti-fighter, anti-corvette ship.
Standard Cruiser – 600m
- Moderate in all respects. Gotta have a baseline cruiser.
Heavy Cruiser – 900m
- Heavy Firepower, Limited Squadrons. The Sith Vanguard Cruiser is a great example for this.
Fleet Carrier – 1200m
- LOTS of squadrons, respectable defenses. For when you're facing a fighter-heavy Navy like the Republic.
Star Destroyer – 1600m
- Moderate in all respects. Because everyone needs an ISD-II.
*Battlecruiser – 2200m
- A fucking bruiser designed to chew ships up and spit them back out. Conceptually based off the Allegiance-class.
*Command Ship - 3000m
- I see no particular reason not to make one since we now can.
Outside the regular Naval concept there would be the following:
Flagship – 5000m
- And I have the perfect picture.
Hunter-Killer Corvette – ~200m
- Quick, fast, abnormally large amounts of firepower but fragile and no squadrons. Concept is a modern-day attack sub in Star Wars. Firepower is only really effective from ambush, then it has to use speed and stealth to escape (and hopefully repeat). I intend to do a pretty significant amount of dev work for this, but it'll still be tricky to balance. We'll see, it's not exactly high priority compared to everything else.
That's the overview. I tend to miss obvious stuff or overlook conventions, so I'm open to suggestions about ships we should/shouldn't make and such. I would also like for our ships to have some 'motif' if you will. Like, they tend to be more durable/faster/heavier/better armed/whatever than normal. Discuss, gripe, bemoan, converse, etc.
