A look into the kitchen

[member="Leo Anubis"]

Athena stood at the counter, expertly flaying and slicing fleek eels for supper later. She was hoping to make her special eel soup, complete with fenti beans, salthia beans, bloddles, and other veggies. And, if there was room, some noodles, too.

As she chopped, the Twi'lek swayed her hips and sang one of the few songs she remembered all of the lyrics to. Her voice wasn't the greatest, true, but it certainly didn't make one's ears bleed.

At the unexpected voice, the Twi'lek jumped slightly. She'd been so absorbed in her song, and with chopping, that she hadn't heard anyone coming in. Turning, she saw that it was none other than Leo, one of the gunnery men. At least, that's what she thought they were called. To her, they were the folks that went in and blew stuff up. With guns. Anyway.

Flashing the man a grin, Athena turned back to her chopping board, throwing a greeting over her shoulder. "Achute, Leo. They go good. You?" While most other folks were chased out of the kitchen (except the captain -- she couldn't very well tell him what to do on his own ship, right?) the Twi'lek decided to let him stay; after all, she wasn't explicitly busy, and it never hurt to have a little chitchat whilst she worked.

"it goes wel, thad song sounded beautiful by the way" he walked up to her and looked over her shoulder at the food before leaning back agien "thad looks good"he siad appreciating the fact thad he had her to thank fore bieng abel to eat actuly edible food, he smiled slightly at the toughed.

Athena's lekku twitched in an embarrassed manner, and she blushed. "Sonpa uba, Leo," she replied, though her back was still kept to him. After all, these eels weren't going to cut themselves. "You be kouoleu."

As he walked over to lean over her shoulder, she moved over a bit to give him room. As he complimented the food, she grinned again. "Well, Jee dotmay fa litka dan; it be a...uh...special malamka." Her lips pursed slightly at her Basic. Despite what the name said, Galactic Basic was most certainly not basic, by any means. She was still learning new phrases, and even though she'd come into contact with it many places and many times, the Twi'lek just couldn't get the hang of it.

Leo smiled as he saw her blush "your welcome" he looked at her work "wel it still looks good" thoug he didn't completly understand evryting se siad, he kne ryl, yet been a bit rusty at it sindes leaving his former boss service he, grind slichtly "your cooking is a tousend times better than wat rations thad hut used to give me"a shiver ran acros his spine just tinking about it and the hut.

Athena nodded, well aware of the food (at least, the stuff they called food) was like. She'd done a brief stint as a chef for a Hutt, though that didn't last long -- about three months after being hired, the Hutt was assassinated and everyone was either sacked or absorbed by the other Hutts. She spent about five seconds considering her options before booking a seat on the next shuttle to a new planet.

Done with the eels, she swept all of the meat pieces into a pot and, after cleaning everything, set about to chopping the bloddles into small, bite-sized pieces. "I learn from the best," she told him. "Mama, Papa, everyone." Despite herself, the Twi'lek began to hum softly as she chopped. She couldn't help it -- it was a habit developed over her years of working from job to job. Music was the only thing that made working in some grungy kitchen or waitressing in a dirty hole-in-the-wall more enjoyable.

Leo smiled "wel it looks like they touged you well" , he lissend to her humming "your voice truly is leeah" , as he lissend to her his anger and pian from the tougtes of his former boss slowly faded.
He looked at his cybernatic arm, the constand reminder of al thad hutt had cost him and his loved once, he shook his head, alsmost to get the tougth out of his head, and he continued lisening to her.

Athena blushed at Leo's compliment, her lekku twitching slightly. "Sonpa uba," she said.

The Twi'lek fell silent -- except for humming, that is -- and busied herself with finishing the bloddles. Once they were all chopped, she glanced back at the cyborg. "Hand me those cah?" She pointed to the cabinet which had all of her pots and pans and other things. Hey, she liked Leo, but if he was going to sit in the kitchen with her she figured she might as well put him to work. And who knew, maybe he'd learn a little something about cooking from her. She grinned faintly at the thought.

Leo smiled "your welcome leeah" he noddes tnad walked to the cabinet getting al thad she could need, he didn't nind helping her out, he looked at the choped up bits "I could make you a cutter if you want, it would make it les time comusing to cut up al of thad"

The Twi'lek paused, tilting her head in confusion at Leo. "A cutter?" she asked. Did he mean a knife? If so, she had plenty of those, and they were efficient enough. "What is...cutter?" Perhaps it was a special machine? That might create some problems -- manually cutting food was the only method Athena had learned. Besides, machines meant directions, and directions were normally written in Galactic Basic, the only language Athena knew and disliked. Well, alright, "knew" might be a bit of a stretch, but she knew enough words to halfway carry on a conversation.

Her lekku twitching, the Twi'lek cook took the pots from Leo and arranged them to her liking on the counter. She then set about preparing the noodles which went along with the soup -- though they were optional, she'd always liked the textural contrast between the liquidy soup and the noodles.

Leo smiled "basikly a mecanical knive" he started walking to the door "il showe you, should only take me a few minuts" he walked out, and half a minut later the sound of welding could be heard, 10 minuts later Leo returnd whit in his hands somting thad looked like a like half a triangel (this shape basikly /_ ), it consited of a platform the zize of a smal cutting board and a ahrm ectending at a 90 degree angel from the back, there was a atetchmend point fore a knive or tools of simelar size at the end of the arm. 2 licht trials/lazers shined underneet the board, one direcly under the arm the other a few centimeters further.
Leo put it down and atetched 1 of the larges knives to the arm, loching the knive in place. "this is wat i mean whit a cutter" he took 1 of the disgardet pieces of fich to demonstrate it and liad it on the board on the first lazer "the momend this passes the second lazer the knive will come down" he pused it further til it hit the 2th lazer, the knive came down and cut the fisch at the exekt point were the 1st lazer was, shooting back up agien in less than a second.
Leo pointed to a turn knob at the board "this is to ajust howe long you want the object your cutting to be" he turnd it and the 2th lazer moved whit whit the turning of the knob. "oh and this si the on of swiths" he siad wel pointing to a switch on the side "thad is al you need to knowe to use it"
Leo smiled at his handiwork "so wat do you think?"

Athena stared after Leo in confusion. “Oh, okay…” she said to his disappearing back. Still not sure of what the man meant, the Twi’lek returned to her task at hand, though she couldn’t help but glance up once or twice at the sound of welding going in. Interesting, she thought.

Ten minutes later, Athena was just getting ready to put the noodles into the boiling water when Leo returned, carrying the oddest contraption she’d ever seen. Quickly putting the noodles in the water and turning the temperature down, the cook hurried to the man’s side as he began his demonstration.

She gave a small smattering of excited clapping when he finished. “Da doth kehaseu!” the cook exclaimed. “Very good!” Already, the cook was thinking of all the things with which she could use the contraption for. It would certainly come in handy on days when the crew was ravenous.

Leo smiled widly happy to see she endjoyed his machine " i am glad you like it leeah" he looked from the cutter to her "a smipel machine, but i hope it helps you well"
