A Leaf on the Wind...

Thea watched as they approached the base, catching a brief glimpse of her own ship sitting docked outside. The purple-hued skies of Teth had welcomed her well, the sight of the planet's peaks sticking up through the clouds would probably stick with her for some time to come. She sat with hands folded in her lap as Cassius brought the A-wing back into the hangar bay.

“That's pretty likely,” She nodded. Perhaps Leif was there near the Core, he was never very far from the action.

The fighter touched down nimbly, and the canopy slid open. Thea lifted the helmet off her head, and shifted in her seat to fix Cassius in a sidelong glance. A smile appeared on her face, and she gave the hull an affectionate pat.

“You know, I think so.” She answered with a sure nod. “It'd be fun to get out in one of these again, just don't tell the Stargazer that I liked it so much.” Thea reached up and ruffled her hair. “It almost makes me feel bad!” She said with a laugh, trying to push aside the silly feeling of cheating on her ship.

“So, what now?” She asked, tapping lightly on the helmet that now sat in her lap. “I guess this will be home for a spell.” Her eyes widened slightly.

Thea hadn't really had a home since she left Tanaab.

“Well, I mean... if the invitation is open and all.” She added, grinning sheepishly.

He cracked a smile as she expressed her fondness of the wedge-shaped starfighter. “Don’t worry,” he assured her, “I don’t think the Stargazer will mind. I fly tons of ships.” It was the same way a lot of people rode around in landspeeders – you might have your favorite, and that favorite might change, but that ship will always be there.

Funnily enough, a similar thought had been creeping in his head recently – since flying the Tumbleweed to Midvinter, he’d fallen in love with the design of the VCX-100, and was giving serious thought to getting one and having that be his main ship.

Would he be cheating on his beloved Stardust Melody, though? Well, of course not. The Stardust was a ship – she didn’t have feelings. Right?

“Yeah, it’s open to you,” he nodded. “Like I said, the pay ain’t great, but if you enjoy the simple things, as well as helping people, it’ll feel right.”

Twisting his body somewhat, he pointed out of the hangar doors, where the purple cloudscape of Teth hugged the various mesas. “Also, you can’t beat that view. Just wait till you see a sunset here.”

“We’ll pick out some quarters for you, let you get settled in. I’ll teach you all there is to know about flying in A-wings, and eventually we’ll get out there and start helping people. Simple as that.”
