A Jaunt into the Hells (PM for invite)

game-features-corp.jpg

Location: uncharted, uninhabited planet, Wild Space
Time: 13:00 hours

James had been waiting a long time for this. A very long time. At last it was here. An opponent had finally been found worthy of the full-force of his fleet and it was a real combat encounter. Sure, they had been through several exercises, and of course there had been drills for several months leading up to this, but now, finally, James had a chance to put them to use, and pit his copious numbers of Switchblade fighters and Meridian Frigates against a real fleet.

Sasha had tracked a fleet and planted a tracer into their fleet. Following their usual routes, James decided this would be the best place to ambush them, given the asteroids and localized gravity. Wait among the space debris, James watched his fleet around him, concealed. It was now just a waiting game. A watching game until they showed their faces.

It was time to get back into the fight, stardust had dawned a flight suit and had a helmet in her hands as she prechecked her weapons and made sure she was loaded up fully

It had been some time since she space battle, especially in her starfighter for for war....she wondered if she should change on the proton torpedoes for something else....oh well

Her little astromech R8 rolled up and beeped"I know I know I've checked everything over again "she said as the droid beeped again"

OK OK jeez "she got in her comm" how we looking James

Rose was had been waiting for a few hours on the other side of the planet with the rest of medical corps. Every one at first had been all hyped and ready to fight but a few hours had past. Rose had tried to contact her master. "Is everything ok over there? And how much longer the soldiers are getting bored and ever a few have fell asleep." Then she said over the ship. "Go over the ships and make sure they are ready again and make it Quick!" At this point she was ready to fall asleep.

James looked over his display console and sighed. No good soldier worth their salt would fall asleep while on call. He let out a puff of smoke, "Tell them that if they be falling asleep I will fire them and they'll never work in military again. I can't exactly call em up and say, 'mate ye be holding us up, could ye speed it along so we can kill ye and destroy ye ships?'"

He couldn't believe this. Kids these days. No gratitude. No respect for the war that was. Then it happened, his console blinked, and he saw them come out of hyperspace. The intel was by far under-gauging their numbers.

In the center was the Invincible-class dreadnaught, what he was told would be their backbone and primary weapon. Flanking around its fore were four Tartan-class patrol cruisers, each of them bristling with their twenty turbo lasers, and specializing in anti-fighter warfare. Around the body, flaking left and right of the dreadnaught were six DP20 Frigates. All around them he could see a haze of fighters, Pursuer-class enforcers, each dwarfed by the massive ships around them. James let out a low whistle. They were in for a fight for sure.

"Moving in, now, now now," he barked on the comm. Speed was of the essence, "Ye keep the fighters off the prow, go in for the 180-Mark-30 approach, if we take out that dreadie then we be safe." He let the Lost Angel's engines roar to life. "I'll distract the Tartans, that should give ye and the fighters enough time to scramble the frigates and the fighters. May the fething Force be with us all."

He set his course for what was a mad-man's run. But he was rarely one to stand by and take the easy route. He blinked twice and his contact HUDs came to life. It was time for some real fun.

She grinned as the sirens started emailing letting all pilots know to lift off and attack

[member="Rose Blade"]" just in time actually provide cover for the fighting and ships"she said getting in and turning the ship on listening to the sound of the engine roaring to life and the vibration through the ship"ohhh yes...goodnto be back"she said and got strapped in as r8 was lowered in"this is green devil taking off

She said as she rose and headed out followed by several other fighters"yeeeehaaa

The Medical Corps fleet all lunched at once at headed towards the pirates then saw the ships they were going against then she opened her comms to James "Change of plan our part." She then got up from her chair. You could hear rose yelling in the background. "Divert seventy percent of the power to the weapons and the rest to the shield get their attention." "Yes Ma'am" "All troops get to the drop ships an get ready to launch." Then she started to talk to james again sorry but i think we can take that dreadnaught ship for our own. I'm going to need you guys to distract the cruisers from the drop ships. If you can do that that would be great." Then rose closed the comms again and rose ran to the hanger of her ship. Once she entered the hanger all of the drop ships were ready and armed.

Rose jumped onto on the the front drop ships and yelled "Open the hanger doors and lets take use that ship!." Once the doors opened the drop ships poured out of the hanger towards the pirate fleet. Rose then told the ships to get ready to fire at the cruisers and waiting for the rest to say something so she know they wouldn't get shot.

James nodded and began diverting all power to his engines, the volatile ship shot forward, James could feel it rumbling, groaning in protest as he edged it the limits of its powercells. "I give 'em something to look at, Rose."

His HUD blinked, indicating that the enemy's ships had come online. His contacts began swirling with lines; attack vectors, possible approaches, hostile zones, all of it was outlined in red and green. Enemies in range were outlined in orange, with their distance and heading buzzing with ticking numbers. It was a flurry of information that an untrained eye would have been stunned senseless at--but for a skilled pilot like James, he could take it all in. A maddening flurry of blaster fire came into James' view, he twisted and deftly dodged it. His shields were lowered to a minimum, making his ship a swift but exposed dart. The Lost Angel found her way weaving through and between the lines of fire, twisting and spinning like a dancer on a pole. He had no fear and no reservations at this kind of work. There never could be. But at least he had their attention, even if the slow moving Meridians were still far behind, he had to buy Rose as much time as he could.

Threading his way, James made the Angel skim the hull of a Tartan cruiser, buying him some cover and time as his hands desperately gripped the steering yoke.
