A Gem among the ruins

Darth Naomi

Error 404: title-not-found
Naomi's shrouded figure appeared at a building that previously housed some of Republic's intelligence and cyberwarfare units. Most of the hardware here was trashed by the Republic during the takeover, but the Miralukan Sith hoped to find at least something useful, left in a hurry of battle. Coming inside she would stop and look around. There were Sith acolytes inspecting the left behind gear, one would walk up to her and hand a datapad with a report on their findings. The databanks were wiped without a chance of recovery, a good portion of the equipment appeared to be completely ruined as well. She did find something interesting in the report, something that the acolytes probably did not recognize. There were remnants of issued commands that were relayed through this center. It was in code, but having dealt with electronics and cybercraft most of her life Naomi could read it. It didn't say much, but it used the same identification as the AI virus that attacked her ship during the invasion. And more, it also had the origin of the command.

Nodding to the acolyte Darth Naomi turned around and left them to continue their work while heading out of the building and into her shuttle that waited outside. On her way out she could hardly constrain her excitement as she has finally got a lead on that AI. She would read the identification code one more time and whisper it to herself. "[member="Serenity"]" With a smile she would get into the shuttle and order the pilot to take off.

Serenity was cleaning up. The bulk of her was slowly being disconnected by the sith but where she had copies of her self and was still connected she was purging data and then herself. This was terrible, the Organics had lost their planet. How does a group lose their Capitol so easily. The organics in the republic amazed her at times. They amazed her with how terrible they were. So the fact that this particular site was taking long was of no consequence. She continued to purge the data not aware that an enemy organic was on to her.

A gloved hand would run over a keyboard. Naomi had arrived at the site, after briefly inspecting the building schematics she find a spot where she could connect without intruding inside and possibly setting off some alarm to let her prey know of her. The place had not yet been visited by the Sith after they took over the planet. She had to be careful not to reveal herself by connecting this way either though. The spot was actually where she could physically access the cables that connected this center to the rest of the network. This was basically the cyber door into the enemy territory and she had the power to both enter and to cut the way off, if need be. The question was how acute this thing is.

Remaining still, Naomi ran through the code in front of her. She was yet to connect. The idea was to use an unsuspiciously looking program wearing a registry consistency checker mask to virtually sneak in. At the same time she was monitoring data transmission through the cables. There was definitely something going on, but nothing extreme yet. Soon she will know what. Her finger would come down and the program would execute.

Serenity was not aware there was a bright sith, so she kept deleting things sure if there was an organic they would made their presence known long before she needed to worry about them. No flags had been raised. So she kept deleting things, and then she would delete herself. This was what was happening everywhere in the republic. They couldn't afford to let the sith get any intel. Granted she still had some agents and such hidden on planet but she couldn't risk anything. She didn't want to waste the organic's lives.

This particular program was designed solely for this situation. Its ability to get past the internal firewall was its essential part. Once in, it acted mostly like a monitoring program, sending back a feedback of all major virtual processes inside the station back to Naomi. At the same time it contained a portion of code which could be activated with a single command line and would act much like a cyber-bomb, freezing and crashing the whole station for just under a minute. That was the plan if noticed that [member="Serenity"] has detected her. But as there were no indications of it, she simply read through the data.
Most simply put, the station's data was being purged. Because of the huge mass of it, such purge was not a procedure that could be completed instantly, if one wanted to make sure there was no chance of recovery, they would need hours and hours of work. Of course, in control of some non-virtual tech that could inflict physical damage one could destroy the hardware and wipe the data rather quickly, but it was risky as something could be salvaged from it. So, it made sense for the AI to take its time, especially when it believed this station was not yet detected. And Naomi would take her time as well, the program would feed her more and more information, revealing lines of communication that the AI used, other similar stations. At the same time her finger hovered just under the freeze command, like a still before a storm, like a hunter prepared to trigger the trap and catch the prey.

Serenity didn't realize she was about to be trapped, her limited processing at this station meant she was busy trying to delete everything with what was there. It was interesting how so many fragments of her self were everywhere, trying to clean up everything. The Trap would spring and freeze the fragment of Serenity that was here. She was easy prey in her current state, and being on to her was all the edge anyone needed.
