Neshtab was unfamiliar territory.

Valery had spent much of her post-stasis life learning the names, histories, and ambitions of the Galaxy's major powers. She had negotiated with governments, fought alongside Mandalorians, and crossed blades with enough Imperial factions to recognize most of their patterns. The Iron Covenant, however, was different. She knew they had risen to power sometime after her disappearance, and knew they held Neshtab, but understood little beyond that. For someone trying to understand what the Galaxy had become in her absence, that made them impossible to ignore.

Her X-wing soon dropped from hyperspace at the edge of their territory. Valery immediately eased back on the throttle and kept her fighter on a predictable course. She had no interest in testing how quickly an unknown Mandalorian power responded to an unidentified Jedi suddenly appearing on their doorstep. Especially when she had come alone.

Valery glanced over the readings on her display before opening a broad transmission channel. Her identity was attached to the signal, along with the codes that identified her vessel as belonging to neither a military nor government. Whatever weight her name still carried would have to do the rest. "This is Jedi Master Valery Noble," she began, "I'm requesting permission to enter your territory and an audience with whoever speaks for the Iron Covenant."

Valery closed the channel but kept it open to receive a response. One hand remained loosely around the controls while her X-wing drifted at the edge of their space, making no attempt to move closer without permission.

Now, she waited.

Whatever the Iron Covenant was, she preferred to hear it from them.
