A Common United

"One army? Althought that would be ideal, our problem lies in governments like Yutan that have joined us almost reluctantly. Their conditions are that our military remains off of their world and out of their space. However they are open to the exchange of troops. So in light of that, I propose that we have one army that protects the region, while still allowing other worlds to have their own forces centered around protecting their own. That way there are two lines of defence should an attack occur."

Kay smiled and gave [member="Corey Brave"] a bow of her head as he gave her his support. "Thank you for wanting to stand with me. I will most likely run. It would be too soon for me to step away from what have built. There will come a time when I will step away, or at worse if I am taken prisoner or killed, with you in the Senate, I know that it'll be in good hands." She could quite easily see Corey being there as her right hand man, her go-to person.

But only time will tell.

Corey respectfully returned the bow "[member="Lady Kay"], I can see that we will do much together. We will be able to change this galaxy for the better, create peace and stability where others cannot, and change the course of galactic events. This Republic will be the envy of the world, I can just feel it."

Corey couldn't get a clear vison of what the future would hold, he was no force user so the ability to see visions of the future was not something available to him. Despite his lack of force ability he could tell that this was the beginning of a wonderful future for himself and his planet. The senate was just the first step for him to gain influence and popularity within the galaxy.

Kay nodded. "I certainly hope so." Republic however was a word that no longer help the positive influence that it once did. Bad decisions by them during acts of war tarnish their reputation. Other governments haven't faired much better. She hoped to not follow suit.

"So what is the perception of the people of Gyndine with regards to joining us? I was just curious if others felt the way that Yutan did. They regard it as a non-violent takeover. As though everything that I do will bring about consequences for them. I just wish that I could get them to see it differently. That's what I'm hoping that the Senate will accomplish."

[member="Corey Brave"]

Corey looked perplexed for a moment, he wasn't sure how to answer the question. It was hard to read the people of Gyndine they seemed mixed on the issue. It had been easier when he was Prime Minster of the planet, he was able to better mange the people and get into their heads. The truth of the matter was some people were of the opinion that joining had been a mistake and would lead to the end of the sovereignty Gyndine. The other half of the population believed that joining would bring about better trade deals and more money.

"[member="Lady Kay"], For the most part, the people of Gyndine are happy to be in this Republic. When I was still Prime Minster I heard agreements on both sides and you'll be happy to know that your name never came up as a reason against joining. What you must understand is that the people of Gyndine have a great deal of pride. We want to keep our independency, but at the same time we want to expand our trade."

Kay smiled a little as [member="Corey Brave"] reassured her that her name wasn't spoken of in a bad light. That was a good thing. Perhaps Viktor and Yutan were on their own in that regard. Hopefully the others could convince them that they had nothing to worry about.

She nodded as he spoke of Gyndine's pride. It was healthy for people to have some pride. It was just better if that didn't impede progress. "The people of Gyndine have nothing to worry about. I'm not planning on ruling over them. I am the Queen of Commenor; not the Queen of Gyndine. Your sovereignty will be kept well intact and your trade economy will be boosted, as will ours. It's good for all of us."

Corey smiled [member="Lady Kay"] had good intentions but he wandered if she fully understood how polarizing be the leader of a Republic was. She would be under constant pressure not just from his own people, but the rest of the planets as well. The first lesson that any leader learned was that it was impossible to make all people happy all the time, but she seemed to be under the impression that she could.

"Once people start to see the benefits of joining together the transaction period will go by fast. At the end of the day the main thing people care about is there bottom line, how much money they were able to bring home and there standard of living. The first day of the senate will dissuade some of the concerns people have about this government and it's goals."

Kay nodded, taking what [member="Corey Brave"] had to say into consideration. He was right of course. As time went on, the transiotions of other worlds will go by much smoother. Time was all that was needed. And they needed to be able to work on it with as little screw ups as possible.

"Icertainly hope so. Since I started leading Commenor, things had improved greatly. We took out most of the Underground economy. There didn't need to be one anymore as people had livable wages. Even student debs were lowered as more companies started to invest in our University, making it cheaper. The shipyards had reopened, so that brought in more work, as well as the construction of Embassies and our new Senate Hall. The indirect jobs relating to those also help keep things going. And that's not even touching the added trade that we've had due to our numerous allies and business contracts. It's a great model to follow."
