Ophelia knocked on the door of Kay's office before opening it and stepping inside. She was Kay's assistant and confidant, far more important to the Queen of Commenor than just a secretary. Ophelia knew most of her secrets, but not all. Yet the two shared a special bond. Kay didn't know her mother growing up, so the lady took on that role at times, guiding her wherever she could. It felt nice to be wanted and appreciated.

"There is a [member="Corey Brave"] on his way, my dear. It seems that Gyndine has chosen a Senator. Shall I bring him in here as soon as he arrives?"

Kay looked up from her reading, tea in hand. "Yes please. Hopefully he's a lot easier to get along with than Viktor."

"Easier or not, it doesn't matter. They aren't your choices, but the planets that they represent. You have to get along with all of them. Including [member="Viktor Alexander"] . It's better for the long run."

With a slight frown, Kay nodded her head. "Yes, Ophelia. He just...get's under my skin so much and it's like he's looking for some way to get me locked up. And I didn't even do anything to him."

Ophelia just shook her head. "It doesn't matter. And look, he's not even here and you're getting all flustered. Just put him out of your mind and focus on the new arrival."

As Kay nodded in agreement, Ophelia left to go and meet their guest at the Royal Palace's landing pad. The Sapir tea in Kay's hand was a common sight. She was addicted to her tea, more so as it gave her comfort in trying times. Plus she liked the taste too.

As she waited for Corey to arrive, she went over final decor decisions for the Senate Hall. Hopefully it suited all of the Senators' tastes.

As Corey Brave looked at the planet Commenor from his ship he was struck by how many lights there were. Cleary it was a planet with many people and a good infrastructure. He had been suprised when the people of Gyndine had put there faith in him and chosen him to be their senator.

As his ship descended to the planet below he couldn't help but feel nervous, he had never met the queen before. Queen was someone who was to be respected for the way that she had gotten so many planets to come together. He shared her vision of galactic cooperation. He wanted to make a good first impression because he knew everyone on Gyndine was watching.

When his ship landed on the royal landing pad he was suprised.

"There really rolling out the red carpet for you Corey" his assistant Mark said.

It was true he felt very welcome to the planet and being allowed to land on a pad reserved for royalty have him high hopes for his meeting.

"Mark do me a favor and stay here with the men and the ship, I wish to meet the Queen by myself"

When he stepped off the shop he was greeted by Ophelia.

"Corey Brave, new senator for Gyndine nice to meet you"

"Nice to meet you too, Senator. If you'll follow me please." Ohpelia led [member="Corey Brave"] through the courtyard towards the Palace. Guards stood on either side of the door, however they only wore uniforms, as opposed to armour. Their weapons were also holstered.

Through the foyer and halls they walked. The Palace was typical of others in old styles, tall ceilings, dark woods and stone pillars abound, with tapestries and works of art finishing off the decor. Once at Kay's office, Ophelia knocked on the door three times before opening it and announcing their guest. "Senator [member="Corey Brave"] of Gyndine, my Lady." She stepped aside to let Corey walk through.

Kay set down her tea and datapad, got up from her desk and walked around to greet him. She was dressed in a comfortable gown today, with no crown or tiara on her head. She didn't make it a habit of wearing them inside her home. "Pleasure to meet you, Senator." Kay held out her hand for him to shake. "I hope you're journey was a good one. Can I offer you some tea? Or Commenori Brandy?"

Corey shook [member="Lady Kay"] hand " The pleasure is all mine. It is an honor to meet someone so respected around the galaxy, and I would love some tea. My journey was very good, the people of Gyndine send their regards to you and your family."

Corey took some time to admire the art work of the palace, it reminded of his home growing up on Coruscant. The art work was impeccable the picture beautiful, and the craftsmanship of the wood was something to be admired. "Your Majesty, you have a very beautiful home".

As time went by with the Queen the more Corey lost some of the tension and nervousness that he had come into the palace with. He felt comfortable that he could make a good first impression on the [member="Lady Kay"] and her people.

Kay smiled. A fellow tea drinker. That was a treat. She walked over to the side table and prepared the tea, removing some Sapir tea leaves from a pouch and crumpling them up in a cup. The water was still hot, so she poured it into the cup and gave the contents a stir. The leaves would dissolve in time. That was when one knew that the tea was ready.

She carried the cup over to him and then invited him to sit in one of the comfy chairs. "Thank you. I'll be sure to pass the greeting to my husband. However the Jedi Temples and Conclaves keep him quite busy. But I'm sure that you'll meet him some day."

Kay walked over to her desk and picked up her tea, carrying it over to one of the comfy chairs before she too, sat down. Her eyes darted around her office as he complimented the look of her home. "It is lovely. It was built a long time ago, used as the estate for the past Presidents and their Ministers. I haven't changed it much. I kind of like it's charm." Kay's attention was returned to [member="Corey Brave"] . "The Senate Hall is new, so some of it's design is modern. Yet I've kept some of Commenor's architecture in there. When it's ready, you'll be able to move in." She leaned back in her chair, tucking her feet underneath as she got more comfortable. "So tell me a bit about yourself...."

Oh yes. He was much easier to be around than [member="Viktor Alexander"] . But there was no telling what the two would be like together. She wondered if Viktor was capable of being nice.

From what Corey could gather [member="Lady Kay"] was very nice and easy to talk. The tea that she had given him was very nice and she seemed to be much more layed back than he had thought she would be. Her hospitality was certainly what he would expect from royalty, when she sat down at her desk he followed suite taking a seat.

He was a little caught off guard when she asked about him "I grew up on the planet Coruscant, a beautiful planet much like this one. During the days of the old republic my father served as chancellor, that's why I'm interested in politics. I had the privilege of growing up around some of the Jedi and befriending them. When I finished with school I moved to the planet Gyndine. It's a nice planet with good hard working people who spend most of there time making ships and working in factories. I think that the galaxy is much better off when the different people are talking to each other, so that we can prevent war. I also have a few food banks scattered around so that the most disadvantaged can get some help from there government."

When he finished talking he tasted the tea that the Queen had given him, it tasted amazing he would have to make sure that he brought some home.

"If you don't mind your Majesty I would like to know a little bit about you?"

Kay nodded as she listened to [member="Corey Brave"] describe his history. A young man growing up in the world of politics. She hadn't run into many of those. She wondered if she even knew his father. There was a possibility of that. But Kay wasn't a well known Senator back in her day. Commenor wasn't popular.

She sipped her tea as Corey asked about her. "Me? Well...I grew up an orphan, but later got into politics. I was married for a short time, but he was killed by a Sith Lord. I went into exile for a while, freed a bunch of slaves from the Hutt Cartel. Then politics came back into my life. I became President, then later Queen. I worked hard to get Commenor on it's feet and to keep it safe. Neutrality is key." Kay raised her cup a bit. "And this is my addiction." She smiled.

"I agree [member="Lady Kay"] neutrality it is very important, I think that were going to get along well. I think we both have had eventful lives, freeing slaves is certainly something that most people including myself haven't been able to do that."

Corey was very happy with the way that meeting was going he and the Queen were seeing eye to eye on almost everything. He would be able to do a lot of good things for his people and the galaxy in general as a member of the senate. To Corey the Queen seemed like someone who would be going about the business of not only improving the planets already in the coalition but also expanding to different planets.

"I'm also a big proponent of trade, I think that trade is the best way for us to make money while also building relations with others."

Kay-Larr

"Freeing slaves was a worthwhile venture. Some in the Republic saw it as pointless, but I had to disagree. Giving freedom to just one person helps in the long run." It had it's risks for sure. Kay had bounties on her head because of it. But those were overwith now.

"You're correct. Trade is valuable and keeps the Galaxy moving. Everyone needs something. I just prefer it if people didn't try to take it by force. She war had not been on Commenor's steps for quite some time.

Kay sipped her tea and wondered what other Senayors would be jojning herself and [member="Corey Brave"] . "How do you like the tea?"

"The tea is very good, better than anything we have on Gyndine."

Corey smirked his planet wasn't known much for the pleasantries of life on the fruits of their labor, it would be nice if his people could enjoy the finer things in life like this tea. As a member of the senate he would be able to better provide for his people.

"If you don't mind [member="Lady Kay"], I would like to bring some of this tea back with me to Gyndine. It would be make a great gift for my staff in the capitol."

Ahhh so she got another one hooked. Kay grinned. That was either a good thing, or a bad thing. At least [member="Corey Brave"] had good taste.

"Of course you can. As it's my little addiction, I have plenty of stock. I get the leaves from Bakura. It's in First Order space. We're on friendly terms with them, so I have the leaves shipped to me directly."

Kay had a sip of her tea. "I hope that when the other worlds choose their Senators, we'll be able to start up the Charter together. But right now the process for them picking out Senators is slow. Not everyone is bred for politics."

"[member="Lady Kay"], I know the process is slow and time consuming, but I do believe that we will have members for each of the planets. I think members will be drawn to the fact that as a neutral power, we have good relations with all factions and sides. It's a good selling point to be a senator affiliated with that, its why I decided to join the senate."

Corey took a sip of tea "It's always interesting to see what happens when you sick so many different people in the same room, if nothing else the charter debate will be interesting".

Kay nodded after having a sip of her tea. [member="Corey Brave"] was right. Being neutral and in good relations with others was a good selling point. It was what helped her to get the planets to join her to start with.

She had to laugh a little at his comment on the Charter debate. "Oh yes, that'll be interesting. It could be quite entertaining. The Senator for Yutan, [member="Viktor Alexander"] , he can be quite ruthless. It doesn't take much to put you in his crosshairs. I can see him wanting to go for the role of Supreme Chancellor when the time comes. For right now, that's my position, but only by default. Sooner or later we'll have elections to have it all done properly." Viktor hated a monarchy system, especially hers. But the decision for elections was brought up by her husband when they first discussed having a Senate. Veiere wanted the two of them to retire from public life at some point. And this was partly how she could do that.

Corey ears perked up at the mention of elections for Supreme Chancellor, he would make sure that he would put himself in a position to win. It had always been his dream to be Supreme Chancellor and follow in the footsteps of his father. He was happy to [member="Lady Kay"] in the role because she was someone who he could do business with and maybe he could get her to support him.

"I look forward to meeting with all the senators, and in particular this @Victor Alexander. I have a natural talent for getting along with people and working to achieve common goals."

Corey didn't mind have a monarchy so long as he could have a way to move up the latter and get the things that he wanted. He was an ambitious young man after all, and that meant that he was always looking for a way to move up.

Kay-Larr

"I'm the same way. It's why Commenor has no enemies right now. Yet [member="Viktor Alexander"] is a different story...When I visited Yutan to negotiate their inclusion in my little Republic, he went on the attack and questioned me a lot on my private life. It was as though he assumed that I was a bad person and want to rule over Yutan. But that isn't it at all. At least his people viewed things differently."

That had been a troubling day, and she still went over it in her mind at night. It was always on the back of her mind every time she held a meeting with incoming Senators. Hopefully things improve in the future.

"I'm sure that you'll do very well here. Though I imagine that it'll take all of us a bit of time to get used to. Will you be having any assistants with you?"

[member="Corey Brave"]

"I have a full staff on Gyndine, some of them will be moving to work in my senate office. They are all very smart and intelligent, capable of understanding complex issues. They will be a very good influence on the senate, and of course they are very good at lobbying for issues that they believe in. When the senate building office is opened I will most likely send them ahead of my arrival to set the office up. Hopefully we can hit the ground running and get an agenda up before the charter session begins."

Corey was confident that he would be able to work well from his office on Gyndine and the senate office on Commenor.

"Speaking of the charter, what are some of your ideas [member="Lady Kay"]? I'd love to know what ideas you have on what the government would look like"

Kay-Larr

Sphaera Tea Company Owner
Kay nodded. [member="Corey Brave"] had a full staff, did he? That was all well and good. It seemed a little strange that he wasn't planning on coming over himself straight away when the Senate Hall was finished, but everyone was different. "There will be places for everyone to live within the Hall itself. As it was built with an even larger Senate in mind, there will be rooms for some of your staff as well."

She had another sip of her tea as he asked about the Charter. "Well....everyone will have an equal voice, despite the population of their worlds and how much their GDP is. The Supreme Chancellor will be the one to break ties in votes, as well as sign off on laws or agreements. I don't quite know how long the Supreme Chancellor's terms should be before elections are held. I'd like everyone to have a say in that. We would have strict rules regarding combat, mostly in regards to outside of our territory. But trade and business outside of our borders is welcomed. What works for one world might not work for another, so diversity must always be in the back of our minds. How's that for a start?"

For the most part Corey agreed with what [member="Lady Kay"] wanted, it made sense to all the smaller less populated worlds to have an equal voice. He wanted to make sure that the planets would stay together so that they could better focus on expansion. A strong central government would make it easy to make decisions for all the planets when it came to issues of galactic policy.

"I agree with a lot of what you said, an equal voice for all planets is something I care very deeply about. I that it would limit the chance of rebellion or a breakup, if the senates role in planets domestic issues as much as possible. Each planet should be allowed to make its own laws for their own people. As far as terms and powers, I think the chancellor should serve at least three years in office."

Kay-Larr

Sphaera Tea Company Owner
Kay nodded. [member="Corey Brave"] certainly had experience and she found it refreshing. Most of her Ministers had no experience at all and that left her to be the driving force for it all. But she was the Queen, so maybe that was something that she shouldn't complain about. Yet it would be nice to be around those that knew the ins and outs of policy making.

"Indeed. Each world is sovereign and so they are free to run their worlds in their own way, with just a few exceptions. Those being a ban on slavery, xenophobia, illegal spices and arms. I don't want the Underground Markets to regain a foothold here. A living wage would be ideal for everyone, but I understand that not every economy can support that yet. Perhaps in time.

Three years is a good number. And I'd assume that after all the Senators are chosen that we'd have an election straight away?"
Kay didn't entirely feel comfortable with just assuming the role of Supreme Chancellor once things got underway. She may have created it, built everything up, but that doesn't mean that it was her right to take the lead. Like [member="Viktor Alexander"] , there could be others that distrust her.

"Trust me when I say, that I understand the difficulties that come with running an economy. It is no easy task so, but at the same time eventually I think all planets will be able to afford a living wage for their people. As far the bans go I could not agree with you more, allowing the black market and all the criminals that come with it any planet is asking for trouble. I think that the government should have one army, filled with people from each planet so that the chance of war between planets is significantly decreased, this grand army would be in charge of protecting the planets and the space around them. Should there be an invasion, we would be prepared to fight as one and fend off attackers. I want you to know that should you stand for election as Chancellor you would have my full support, I like you and I think that your a very steady pair of hands. It ultimately is your decision, but I just wanted you to know you could count on me".

Corey liked [member="Lady Kay"], and even if she didn't actually run for Chancellor it certainly wouldn't hurt his own chances if his name was attached to hers. He would wait and see what happened, the new senators could be unpredictable, he could work with unpredictable. The charter debate would be his first chance to show what he was made of and he fully intended to show himself as a leader.
