A Common Spy

Kay-Larr

Sphaera Tea Company Owner
It had been a few weeks since Commenor had regained it's sovereignty and freedom from the Sith. No longer bound by a treaty that the Sith had broken, Kay was free to move about and set forth her newest political agenda.

Given recent events, Commenor was no longer a neutral planet. As such there was much work to be done to figure out their direction. Meetings will need to be held with various outside governments encroaching on their space in what used to be Commenor Systems Alliance space.

So much had changed in such a short time, much like how the campaigns for freedom resulted in the destruction of so much. But Commenor survives, reconstruction has begun, and the people have endured.

Kay sat in a temporary office in a part of the Royal Palace that wasn't destroyed in battle. She had sent word for [member="Shoden Moz"] to meet with her. Tea was already prepared and some small treats as well. There was much to discuss. She just hoped that she could place the same level of faith in Shoden as she does in [member="Darlyn Excron"] .

Lady Mischief of Nordel
Dad hadn't allowed her to join the fighting. Perhaps Shoden ought to have been upset he seemed to lack confidence in her, or that he was treating her like a child, or that he was being over protective. Truthfully, she was thankful... she didn't own her own weapon after all. Not one that she could practice with, anyways. Had she come, she would have been a liability, something dangerous to him. So she wasn't happy about it, but recognized her place hadn't been there. Even so, it only made her more determined to prove she could be useful, somehow, to her home. Do something, anything, to protect it.

Perhaps that's why she'd started helping with organizing efforts to help those who'd suffered from the liberation. She hated the work, it was dull and tedious more often than not. And she knew at least some of her skillset was not being properly used. But, it was still something.

She'd just taken some time off of this, having helped a family find temporary residence, seeing as their home was currently unsuitable for living in, when word that [member="Lady Kay"], Auntie, had called for her. She smiled a bit, and was happy to head straight there. It'd been so long, she was sure Kay would be surprised to see how she was now. Street pants and a blouse, a far cry from her usual wear, even if it was still simplistic. But that wasn't really the change she meant...

She knocked so Auntie Kay knew it was her, before stepping in, the smile ever plastered on her face. "Hey Auntie, you called for me?" She walked over to give the woman a hug. She'd been neglecting the need to meet with Kay, that had been a poor decision on her part.

Kay held [member="Shoden Moz"] in her arms for a few moments. She enjoyed the contact and hadn't had much of it since before the seige. It was amazing how something so trivial could be so missed. But she was also glad to see that her niece was safe.

"Yes, I did. I made us some tea and treats. So help yourself." She gestured to the side table and then sat down in one of the chairs, picking up her own cup of tea and having a sip. "Now that Commenor is liberated again, we've got a lot of work ahead of ourselves. How good have you gotten at sneaking around?" [member="Darlyn Excron"] would probably not want her to put Shoden in potential danger. But danger was everywhere these days.

The magic two words. Tea, treats. Followed by the beautiful 'help yourself'. The one handed girl was quick to find herself a seat, take a sip of a cup of tea, and begin to practically inhale the treats set out for her. Politician's daughter everyone, elegant and polite. She was about halfway through a treat when finally Auntie Kay asked her a rather direct question. [member="Lady Kay"] never seemed to be so direct, though perhaps that was just faulty memory on Shoden's part, so it took a moment to register. Then when she did respond (after finishing the food in her mouth, she wasn't a savage barbarian), she tried to sound confident.

"I broke Lauri out of a sith POW camp. I mean there was some help with me but, I did that. And I spent a lot of time hiding and such on Kashyyyk while dad and I were with the Silvers. So, I'd say I'm getting pretty darn good." She didn't mention, of course, that it had been more than a little difficult with only one hand, or that she had to borrow tools before she could get started. Some of that, she left Aunti to discover for herself.

Kay knew very little about what her closest friends and family had been up to after the siege. She was so isolated and out of touch that now she felt quite seperated from them all. Many had died in the battle to rescue her and liberate the planet. She had hoped that she was worth it. Right now she didn't feel it so much.

She put on a small smile as [member="Shoden Moz"] explained her successes so far. "That's great. Have you done any little spying games?" Whether or not Darlyn had played such games with her, Kay wasn't sure. Being out of touch with everyone made planning things difficult.

But this was important. She sipped her tea as she waited for her answer.

"He'd cheat, but yeah we would. He'd have me find a good hiding place and try to find me before I could get back. I almost won a few times too, but he cheats real bad." This time she had a definite tone to her voice, something of pride. She had a high opinion of her dad, and regardless of if he had let her get so close or not, she seemed to believe she was capable of nearly outrunning the man. "Can't say I'm good with computers though, but I can do quite a bit with locks now. It's a bit difficult with half the fingers but I manage." The one, and only, time she'd admit that her disability was disabling.

"Why do you ask Auntie?" She was a smart girl. She had suspicions, but if she thought Dad was protective, [member="Lady Kay"] was an overprotective, naive woman with a habit of trouble. Not entirely wrong.

Kay laughed a little as [member="Shoden Moz"] told her about [member="Darlyn Excron"] cheating. That wasn't very surprising, yet even through the cheating there was probably lessons to be learned in that. She just wasn't familiar with his methodoligy.

"Good with hiding and with locks?
My you are learning well."
She took a sip of her tea, remaining silent for a moment as Shoden asked her the reasonings behind her question. She had them, of course. But how to go about saying it was another story.

"Well, I was hoping that you'd want to do a little spying for me. Maybe even a little bit of snooping. What do you think?"

Shoden Moz

Lady Mischief of Nordel
"Yep! I spent a lot of time since the occupation started learning. Dad says he doubts most locks are gonna stop me. Besides really really expensive ones at least." More sweets and treats disappeared before the eyes of [member="Lady Kay"]. How much did this girl eat? She continued to devour the delicious treats until her Aunt finally explained her reason for asking. She practically shone like a diamond at this, putting the food down and almost bouncing with excitement. "You mean like sneaking into a bad guy's lair and finding all the secrets and stuff? I've been hoping to do that so much! With like, a proper suit and supplies and such. Instead of just a borrowed blaster."

At least Darlyn was teaching [member="Shoden Moz"] well. The man was strangely a good Father. But was Kay supposed to find that surprising? One could never guess what he'd succeed at. One would have to suppose that it was nearly everything. He certainly did well by her, and for Commenor. Couldn't ask for any more than that.

"Yes, exactly that, Shoden. I'll need you to get properly suited and for starters, go into the First Order Embassy in the Embassy District and see what they may have left behind. More than likely it's locked, as will be certain rooms.
They had to leave Commenor in a rush, so there's bound to be some important things left behind."
Things such as contracts, or intelligence or important items. It was easy to forget things when one was hurried and trying to avoid battle.

Shoden Moz

Lady Mischief of Nordel
"Probably not much if anything. They're not nice people, and they might as well torched the building. I wouldn't be surprised if it was standard protocol to burn everything and blow it to He...." She practically bit her tongue to stop herself, before quickly trying to go back down a different route of conversation. "That said there could still be something. With absolutely everyone gone it's not like they've gotten a good chance to go back and make sure they were perfectly thorough. All I'd really need is anything you have that might help, and a proper lockpicking set. Wouldn't mind if I could borrow one of the Knights' lightsabers too, just in case I get locked out...." She took one last bite of sweets her aunt had left out as she trailed off.

She sure at least could pretend to know what she was doing couldn't she?

Kay nodded a little, sipping her tea as [member="Shoden Moz"] spoke of the First Order more than likely taking everything or destroying it before they left.

"They could have removed every scrap of value there.
Yet I don't think that even they knew of our rebellion, norwhen it would happen. They left in haste and in anger."

Kay was labeled a terrorist by them, and one to be made an example of. She hoped to be able to barter put of that situation. "I can get you a lock kit and we'll see about a weapon. Lightsabers aren't given out so easily. But...I may be able to pull some strings."

Shoden Moz

Lady Mischief of Nordel
"Well even a training saber could work. Just would need to massively boost its power output... Might break it afterwards but it ought to work. That or you could talk Caed into letting me borrow his, probably. Either way I'd only really need it as an absolute last resort, though I'm pretty much sure we're working on a limited timeframe. I wouldn't put it past the FO to sneak back and break even more stuff that wasn't already broken." She fiddled with her hair aimlessly with her one hand, twirling the red locks of hair and swirling them around her finger. It was very evident she was deep in thought... "I also wouldn't mind if we had some sort of FO information. Like, as in a key or, piece of info that would be useful to breaking into their closets. Maybe the exact protocols or something like that. Would at least give a place to look you know? LIke, where would they possibly forget to check for sensitive information?"

Kay laughed a little. She wasn't about to let [member="Shoden Moz"] use Cae's lightsaber. That's his own personal weapon. She couldn't allow that anymore than she would allow someone to borrow her own. Sadly one of Kay's favourite lightsabers was still missing somewhere near the old Senate Hall. Things have just been so busy since the siege and with her own house arrest, there was no time to look for it.

One of these days though....

She turned her attention back to the young lady in front of her. "I'm not so sure that they'd be back so quickly. I have yet to speak with members of their government concerning all of this. I don't think that you need to worry, especially if you go soon. As for keys or ideas as to where they'd hide anything, I have none of those. That's partly what this is about. You'll have to go in there and see what you can discover. You are gathering intel for us. Understand?"

Shoden Moz

Lady Mischief of Nordel
"I get that Auntie. I just mean to say if I can go in with slightly more than nothing, well that's a little less I have to do, ya know?" She shrugged a bit and dusted her knees off. Well, [member="Lady Kay"] was trusting her with something important, best not fail her. She had a thing to prove now after all, didn't she? "Well, I'd love to stay and eat your sweets all day, but now we have some business don't we? I don't suppose you could guess how long until you can get me suited up and a good set of lockpicks to work with? The sooner we get started the better after all."

Kay-Larr

Kay smirked a little. "Sometimes we have to work with less than what you've got.
At least the place is empty of personnel. That gives you plenty of freedom."

She got to her feet, finishing off her tea and then setting the cup aside. "The security office can get you the equipment that you need. As for suiting up, you'll need to go to the armoury in the emergency bunkers. They survived the liberation movement moreso than the one here at the Palace." Much of the building was still under construction. But hopefully it wouldn't take too long to rebuild.
