Memories are the Key
Denon - Morning
Club Nevermore
Club Nevermore
How many years had it been since Kara last set foot in this establishment? Once upon a time the club had been a second home. The closest thing to it at least, after she had departed the orphanage. Her initial wandering after had led her to running into a group, or rather a gang. A bunch of teenage misfits on the verge of entering adulthood.
Yeah, that totally wasn’t a recipe for disaster in the making.
Surprisingly though, it wasn’t as awful as you’d imagine. But they weren’t much of a ‘gang’ per se. At least not in terms of what was common on Denon. Always opting to keep things on the low, never sticking their heads out too much. Sure things ramped up over the years, but it was always paramount to not take crazy risks.
Kara had never been too fussed about that, as it gave her time to learn and develop her skills. But as time wore on, she had begun to feel that same feeling back at the orphanage. Feeling as though she had learned all she could there. Albeit, back then there was a whole age/legal requirement for her to leave. But with the gang all she had to do was bid her farewell and disappear off into the galaxy.
Now she was back at their old hangout, intent on making use of old contacts.
Club Nevermore was a modest establishment, popular enough to be full most nights. But for Kara, she was here the morning after, where there were scant few in attendance. Just a couple maintenance droids and a familiar Twi’lek; Val, cleaning up the bar. The other staff were either in the back, or had gone home.
Kara had to refrain from laughing when she saw Val notice her. The blue-skinned Twi’lek’s eyes grew comically large. But he didn’t ask her to leave, instead he just turned away and focused on the bar. Perhaps he was hoping she’d leave, or was just a figment of his imagination. Unfortunately for him though, a very real Kara took up a seat at the bar.
“Val, good to see you’re still kicking.”
“Kara, you’re...here. Why?”
“I’m looking for a job. And I was wondering if you had any ‘tips.’”
“I…don’t do that anymore.” Val looked away, opting to focus at a particular spot on the bartop. That caught Kara’s interest, raising a disbelieving eyebrow at the Twi’lek. “I just focus on running the club now.”
“Hmm, that I find hard to believe, Valery.”
That earned her a glare from the Twi’lek.
