A Change of Pace

Tugoro's gaze of disgust would drag itself from the Hutt before him, falling upon [member="Cynna Jade Sunrider"] as he listened to her hokey excuse. The danger sense flaring in the young Knight's mind was incredible, the force threatening to overwhelm his calm composure. However, Tugoro was in control of himself, even if things got out of control. It didn't seem like things would go well after all, for Sansa continued to laugh alongside everyone else present, as the cloaked individual walked down the staircase towards the pair of Jedi.

"If this is the guy I fought, we should run," Tugoro relayed to Jade telepathically, remembering how that battle had gone down. Or, how -he- had gone down. It had been rather unpleasant. Though, as the cloaked man approached, it became more apparent that it was not the same Sith that Tugoro had faced in the warehouse district. He would lift his arms, removing the hood to reveal the facial features of an aged human male. His eyes were a bright gold, his flesh somewhat pale as the hairs upon his head began to whiten as well.

"Greetings, Jedi. My name is Thetan. Tonight, we shall entertain Sansa with the greatest of performances," the older man spoke, allowing his cloak to drop to the floor, revealing somewhat regal attire. It was a smoothed out two piece suit, that had intricate patterns woven into the material. At the elder man's waist was a leather belt, with a dark metallic lightsaber hanging from a strap. At first glance, the old man was slightly intimidating, emanating an aura of confidence and experience, which he no doubt had.

However, his training in the dark side wasn't complete, though it was there. Having had his gaze stuck upon the Sith that revealed himself, Tugoro would slowly turn to Jade, seeing what she wanted to do. There was no other choice than to go along with what they had planned, which honestly sounded like a fight to the death.

Once Sansa stopped with the laugher, the cloaked man would finally step down to reveal himself. He would refer to both Tugoro and Jade as Jedi. So clearly he knew Jade had been blabbing nonsense about her part as an Imperial. Well nonsense at least in the present time which is all that mattered now anyway. He would then drop his robe revealing a shiny lightsabre on his belt, as he would make reference regarding entertaining the slime of a Hutt worm Sansa. Clearly that had meant he wished to fight the two Jedi in a duel. However Jade had other ideas. Well other ideas to intimate the Sith was more the case. The odds of an actual avoidance of a duel would still remain at very much next to nothing.

Jade would deliberately yawn at the older man as she began to speak.

"Sorry what was your name again, I think you said monkey face or something? Or maybe it was duschebag?"

Jade then would take a firm stance before continuing.

"You wanna fight us with your funny little laser sword you got hanging off your belt? But how? We're not Jedi. I told you who we were. I mean what idiocy makes you think we're Jedi laser brains?"

Jade would continue to stick to her story, and at the same time mock the older Sith warrior that stood before them.

"Oh I'm so sorry, Sansa is gonna have to find you someone else to fight for his entertainment. Maybe you can shove that lightsabre of yours in his big fat ugly buttocks, yeah!"

Jade would then burst out into laughter.

"Yeah! Yeah why not monkey brains, that was your frakken name right?"

And then there would be silence. Jade as well as Tugoro could sense the rapid buildup of anger emerging from within the Sith. He looked at Jade with pure hatred. How dare this woman could be allowed to make a mockery out of him infront of Sansa and his audience would be what would be passing in his mind. Ultimately he would be the one who would decide the next move, and either his own fate or that of the two Jedi that stood before him.

[member="Tugoro Taidarious"]

The elder man would tremble lightly, anger pulsating off of his very being. He had been waiting for this very moment, and wouldn't be denied it by the mockery of some foolish woman. A Jedi, no less. Thetan would close his eyes, the piercing glow of his irises fading as he began to step further down the staircase. The black leather boots upon his feet would come to a stop, merely a few meters away from [member="Cynna Jade Sunrider"] and Tugoro. Lifting an arm, Thetan would point a finger directly at Tugoro, specifically the sleeves of his jacket that had been tied around his neck. "I can see his lightsaber, you fool," the older man regarded Jade with mild amusement, though still angered by her attitude.

The manner in which Tugoro wore his jacket allowed the inside folds to be seen, along with the secret pocket that held the metallic hilt of his lightsaber. This time, the young Jedi Knight really would slap himself in the face, surprised by how easily he had slipped up in the heat of the moment. There really was no indication of the two being Jedi, but whatever inside information the Hutt had obviously said otherwise. The slugs bellowing began to ring out once more, urging everyone else to laugh at the Jedi who had walked so willingly into their doom. Even Thetan, who appeared to be a man of taste and sophistication, found himself chuckling quietly at Tugoro. Through the force, a telekinetic tendril of energy would wrap itself around Tugoro's lightsaber, pulling it from his pocket and into his own hand.

The bright blue saber would ignite as the young Jedi stepped forward, bringing the blade upwards from the ground in a circular motion, attempting to cleanly slice off the hand that Thetan used to point at him. Tugoro had had enough of this game, and was ready to finish it. However, despite his lack of training in the dark side, Thetan was an extremely experienced combatant, capable of side stepping away from the sudden slash, and countering with his own almost instantaneously. Tugoro's mind had not been focused, allowing him to be controlled by anger which clouded his judgement. And so, the crimson blade of Thetan's own saber would ignite from the dark metallic hilt suddenly in his hand, sweeping through the air and through Tugoro's hand. The Knight would gasp in shock, before being hit by a blast of force lightning that sent him skidding along the ground. Plumes of smoke rose from Tugoro's body as he laid dazed, Thetan's gaze slowly settling upon Jade. "And I expected more from him. What about you?" He questioned.

The Sith had been convinced that he had known the two were Jedi simply because he had spotted [member="Tugoro Taidarious"]' lightsabre. Despite this Jade rolled her eyes at him to further anger the much older man.

"Oh so he has a laser sword."

Jade would emphasise the word sword to further mock the Sith.

"And how do you know he didn't kill a Jedi and take it from him. Furthermore I don't have one of those laser swords you dumbarse."

But it was all too late. Tugoro had ignited his weapon the moment the Sith had seen it. Yet Jade just stood there. She did not go for her hidden lightsabre deciding to still play the charade, despite the extreme danger both Tugoro and herself were in. She knew that despite her rustiness in lightsabre duelling, as already proven sometime ago when she sparred with Tugoro, that she was still mega quick at drawing the weapon when eventually she would have to. Then it happen so quickly, the Sith let out some Force lightning from his hands and hurled Tuhoro several metres back, making him hit the floor hard. Then he would turn to Jade. Yet Jade would simply yawn in his face.

"Am I supposed to be impressed? You don't intimate me. You know you should really get that ugly face of yours checked out and_____"

Jade would be abruptly cut of from a now fuming Sith.

"Enough of your pesky insults Jedi woman. You will fight me now or die!"

As he said that, the Sith once again fired lightning bolts, this time at Jade who anticipated it and did several back flips backwards to where Tugoro was just getting back onto his feet. By now Jade had ignited her own lightsabre.

"Well so much for that. Looks like we have to fight him now."

Jade would say to Tugoro as she lent him a hand up, and the two eyed the tall Sith who awaited battle before them, both with lightsabres at the ready.

Thetan was hardly angry, even if [member="Cynna Jade Sunrider"] immature ways did get under his skin. The old man had learned many things in his time, patience being one of them. He had faced off against many cocky and arrogant foes, and so he saw the woman before him no different than the others. With a sideways glance, Thetan would examine the younger man's state, who had unfortunately taken the full brunt of his force lightning. Not something one would easily recover from, proven by the way the Jedi writhed slowly in pain. "Your mind games are second rate, girl. Just as your swordsmanship is," Thetan taunted, thinking of how similar the woman's taunts were to Dun Möch, only far more childish. Had the Jedi fallen this far? The thought drew a brief chuckle from the old man, as he lifted his crimson blade and swept it through the air.

Thetan's wrist flicked in a rotation, spinning the weapons blade of plasma like a fan in an attempt to disarm Jade. Luckily he had provoked Tugoro, and was able to catch him off guard. Jade would prove more difficult, if she was able to focus, while Thetan continued to unleash Makashi manoeuvres upon her. Meanwhile, Tugoro was off to the side of the battle, still gathering himself as the last remnants of electricity flowed through his body. His robotic hand had been sliced clean through, dripping molten metal onto the floor as the Jedi gripped his wrist in pain. The metal was super heated, burning his flesh severely.

And so it was on, the duel that Thetan so badly had wanted. Clearly a Sith he was as he slashed and attacked Jade with his mostly Makashi based manoeuvres. Jade's style of sabre practice were clearly different. She was highly adapt in two forms, form 3 Soresu, and form 4 Ataru. In this fight, Soresu would be useless, and although Jade had knowledge of other lightsabre fighting forms, including the one Thetan was using, she was all Ataru at the present moment.

As Thetan slashed and attacked her, Jade would spin, flip, virtually glide through the air as she either parried Thetan's strikes, or countered back with a strike of her own. This continued for a good two minutes to the beneficial entertainment of Sansa the Hutt, his guards and his guests. However it had been years since Jade had trained properly in any sort of fencing, let alone been in an actual real duel. All the moving around, spinning, manoeuvres, dancing around and so forth that the Ataru form demanded, began to have its toll on Jade as the older and highly experienced Sith began to slowly close in and bare down on Jade. Soon he would have her boxed into a corner. Alone she could not defeat Thetan and both of them knew it.

"Today is a great day to die! But I don't feel like it today you ugly bastard!"

Jade would angrily shout at Thetan knowing that [member="Tugoro Taidarious"] would soon be back on his feet and enter the fight. Alone she would be a goner, as a team, they would have a fighting chance for victory.

The two blades of plasma would clash at incredible speeds, with Thetan planted to the ground, and [member="Cynna Jade Sunrider"] all over the place. The open space they fought in combined with the woman's prowess in Ataru was more than enough to keep up with the old warrior. Still, his feet moved efficiently, his steps carefully executed as were his Makashi manoeuvres. The Sith's stamina was slowly but surely whittled away at, despite the fact that he had the upper hand at the moment. The Jedi was surprisingly powerful, and she did well in overwhelming his defences. With one last lock of their sabers, Thetan would push off of her weight, twirling himself as he stepped backwards and away from the woman.

He only smiled as she shouted at him, knowing she was aware of her current predicament. "I expected better from two Jedi," Thetan spoke mockingly, barring a toothy grin as he looked over towards Tugoro, who was now kneeling motionlessly in an ominous manner. The young man's gaze would lift from the floor, a fierce look in his eyes as he fixed the Sith with a glare. Thrusting his metallic stump of an arm forward, Tugoro would gather the force energy within and around him, forming it into a telekinetic mass that surged forward at the old man. The powerful blast managed to send Thetan off of his feet, hitting the ground hard before sliding along the palace floor. He was down, but not out.

At that moment, Sansa knew things were not going as planned. In a panic, the slug would turn around to grab hold of a heavy repeater blaster, much like the one Jade had shown Tugoro earlier on in their adventure. Pointing the weapon in the two Jedi's general area, the Hutt opened fire, spraying a volley of blaster bolts that would rain down upon them. It was up to Jade to save the day, for Tugoro was still scrambling to find his saber, while Thetan slowly lumbered back onto his booted feet.

It all would unfold so quickly. Before she even knew it, Jade had found herself in the thick of it. It had been years since the veteran Republic fighter pilot, ex Imperial and then turned Jedi Kinght had fought in a duel. She was fairing a lot better than she did when she had sparred with [member="Tugoro Taidarious"] not all that long ago. Perhaps it was because of the change of circumstances. In the practice duel with the young Jedi, her very own life was not in any danger, unlike now where her life, and as well as that of the very same Jedi, would most certainly hang in the balance.

And then the break through in which Jade needed. Thetan was suddenly pushed off his feet and down on the floor several metres away. Tugoro, he was still down, but had somehow summoned enough every to knock the Sith off his feet and away. It must've been something as the old man was still on the ground a moment later when Jade charged at him, pouncing and reading herself for the kill. She flew through the air in true Ataru style, only to have to abort her attack. Sansa the Hutt, he clearly had decided to contribute his part in an attempt to steer the outcome of the battle into his favour. Blaster fire came at her from the Hutt's heavy repeater. Jade had to use her lightsabre while in midair to block them and avoid being hit. Then as a result she would land awkwardly, stumbling on her feet but managed not to trip. More fire came at her as Jade continued to block them. This she was good at. Like with Ataru, Jade was also a master at form 3 Soresu, which specialised in deflecting blaster bolts and the like.

"Wrong move you slime bucked piece of frakken kark!" Jade yelled at him as she now was fully recomposed again and deflected the repeater fire back at him. The Hutt's own plasma energy bolts would hit him. All piecing his body killing him instantly. If anyone who wasn't present watching this battle would see the dead hutt's carcass, it would have appeared as if he had been shot by someone else's repeater rifle. Such was the accuracy of Jade's skill in Soresu. By this stage Thetan would be back onto his feet, lightsabre out, ready to resume the fight with Jade.

"Looks like that fat slimy buddy of yours won't be offering you anymore assistance."

Jade angrily said to the Sith as she initiated an attack on him. Then once more it was on. Sabres would clash once more, with Jade now intensifying her attacks, coming at the Sith far more aggressive than before. Her anger was getting the better of her however. Thetan knew it and could see the younger Jedi woman tiring. This he planned to use to his benefit. All he had to do for now was hold her off for long enough for her to tire, and for long enough before Tugoro could get up again to join the fight.

Everything had happened so fast. The burst of energy Tugoro had released was more than enough to send the old Sith stumbling backwards, and [member="Cynna Jade Sunrider"]'s deadly defence had killed Sansa in an instant. Gripping the metallic hilt of the saber in his only available hand, the young Jedi Knight would rise to his feet, his eyes wide in shock as a disturbance in the force was felt. Thetan appeared mildly surprised too, but that quickly changed into an expression of amusement. Having climbed back onto his feet, the old man would lower his lightsaber blade before deactivating it completely, taking several quick steps away from the duo.

"Your work is done here, my friends," he spoke, casting a brief glance to the corpse of Sansa. The Sith would turn and head for the nearby exit behind Sansa's throne, heading further into the palace as the surrounding audience became unruly. Anyone that had left now re-entered, brandishing weapons of all shapes and sizes as they closed in on Jade and Tugoro. They were bristling with rage, having witnessed the death of their daily pay-check. There were twenty in total surrounding the duo, half wielding firearms while the other half possessed vibroblades, clubs, axes, you name it. Moving to position himself next to Jade, the young man would slip his jacket on, the blue blade of plasma igniting by his side.

Tugoro's eyes closed momentarily, allowing his mind to calm as he reached out to the force. It flowed through his body, slowly but surely numbing the burns he had received. They would no longer be a distraction, but his efficiency in battle would still be hampered with only one hand. "Got a plan?" He questioned curiously.

Before Thetan would make his quick exit out, claiming that his "Work had been done", Jade did manage to take several more strikes at the older man. Yet she was tiring and Thetan was no longer bothered to fight the Jedi any further. Using a Force push, he pushed the tiring Jade away with ease and back to where [member="Tugoro Taidarious"] would be standing. With that Thetan would quickly vanish into a nearby exit behind the throne of the now deceased Sansa.

However it wasn't quite over yet. Not by a long shot. Infact one could say that the bigger trouble was only just about to begin now. Thetan may have been Sith, but he was but one man. Now the two Jedi found themselves surrounded by a very disgruntled audience, all armed with a variety of lovely weapons ranging from small blasters, to larger assault rifles, vibro blades and other nasty bladed type weapons.

"Umm.... No, do you?"

Jade would answer Tugoro's question regarding if she had had a plan.

"How hard can it be? We're only surrounded like say umm 30 to 2. On a brighter note despite the weapons they're all brandishing, we do have our lightsabres and the Force."

Jade would say in a very sarcastic voice, as the 2 Jedi would stand with their backs facing one another reading them selves for combat. Before she knew it, one of the Rodians fired his blaster at Jade. Jade would send him off to the afterlife in the same way she did his employer. And then came a Trandoshan, vibro blade baring down straight for Jade's head. Jade manoeuvred slightly to onr side in anticipation, and with a simple sword cut, sliced his head off clean. And then it was on. The rest would come at the 2 Jedi with either all guns blazing, or blades raining down at their throats.

The old Sith was gone, no longer finding it necessary to stick around after Sansa's death. Everything had gone according to his plan, mostly, and it was a lot smarter to quit while he was ahead. Fleeing through the corridors of the palace, Thetan eventually arrived at the hangar bay, coming to a controlled walk as he neared his personal Sith shuttle. The armoured infantrymen and officers that stood outside of the ship saluted the Sith, before turning to follow him up the loading ramp. The shuttle then began to hover, blasting forward through the dark sky of Nar Shaddaa, ascending through the city planet's levels and eventually off of the surface. Sitting down in the pilot's chair, Thetan would release an exhausted sigh, finding himself considerably tired after the whole ordeal. [member="Cynna Jade Sunrider"] proved to be a formidable enemy, one that his master was most likely unaware of. The old man's fingers would run over the ship's console, accessing the navigational system as he brought up the coordinates he had downloaded. The Hok system.

Back in the palace, things were not looking any better for the two Jedi. Slowly being surrounded, Tugoro would laugh as he listened to Jade's comment, quickly correcting her, "That's twenty," before he lifted his ignited saber from his side, holding it out in front of his body, his arm extended downward all the way. He only had one had available, and would be forced to fall back on Makashi. Holding his weapons hilt with a steady grip, the young Knight would lash out as Jade did, though in a far less violent manner. He was able to utilize the duelling focused form against the closest opponents, precisely stabbing his saber through their firearms, or disarming them with slight singes to their arms. Tugoro kept his back pressed against Jade's, defending her blind side while letting the enemy approach and fight on his terms. Her lethal style was undeniably efficient, but Tugoro just couldn't bring himself to kill any more. Every single one of his movements were calculated and executed nigh-flawlessly, his footwork mixed with Soresu allowing him to dodge the blaster bolts of far away opponents, while his swordsmanship prowess made quick work of those who got too close. For the finishing touch, the young man underhand tossed his lightsaber hilt into the air, allowing it to spin wildly before deactivating completely.

Now that his only hand was free, Tugoro lifted his arm and aimed it at the group of mercenaries before him, concentrating and gathering the power of the light side within his very being. He could feel the force flowing through him, and so he harnessed it into one of the most controversial light side powers, Electric Judgement. The powerful bolts of emerald lightning would surge from Tugoro's finger tips, slamming against his foes, causing them to crumple to the ground. The technique sapped them of their stamina, leaving them unconscious and harmless. The bright light cast by the green energy would fade away, disappearing immediately upon contact with its targets. "We should get out of here." Tugoro recommended, stating the obvious.

As the two Jedi fought back to back, Jade could see that they were both overwhelmed. Given they were enclosed within the grounds of the palace, neither had much room to move. If they had been on a battlefield, all Jade would have had to do was cut an opening, probably jump up high a little and then make a run for it. However that clearly would not work here. Then suddenly [member="Tugoro Taidarious"] would move into a league of his own. One moment there were over 10 disgruntled beings ready to kill them baring down on them, then suddenly the entire room would be lit up with an emerald coloured lightening that was surging from the fingertips of her counterpart, and then all lay unconscious on the ground before them.

"Umm yeah right, uh let's get out of here. Good idea." Jade just stood there stunned, her mouth half opened in almost disbelief.

"Just how did you do that Tugoro? You must show it to me sometime."

Jade would ask the young Jedi, clearly impressed but at the same time astonished, as both made their way quickly out for the exit.

"I'll explain later," Tugoro managed to mutter, the pain in his arm still somewhat noticeable. After such bursts of power as well, the young man was feeling tired, his pace slower than [member="Cynna Jade Sunrider"]'s own. The duo exited the main hall, heading down the palace corridors in a hurry. Tugoro was falling behind, and came to a complete stop as he noticed a terminal. "Wait up," he called after Jade, coming to a halt and turning to face the computer. Running his hands over the console, the Jedi would begin to delve into the command logs, quickly scanning for any information that would be useful. A brief smile would flash across the youth's face, as he pivoted in the opposite direction, waving towards the woman.

"The hangar is this way! We can steal a ship, then get back to the Enclave," Tugoro explained, knowing it would be the quickest yet riskiest way to leave the area. The two would eventually arrive at the small hangar, spotting the leftover shuttle that was the only other ship in sight. On the horizon, Thetan's dark presence could be sensed, slowly but surely growing even more distant. The Sith had gotten away, but Tugoro was determined to find out more about everything that was going on. Tugoro would come to a stop in front of the shuttle, using the force to open the loading ramp before walking in.

The cockpit would light up as he flipped a switch, setting his exhausted body down into the co-pilot's chair, before preparing the ship for take off. "It's a rare power. Like the Sith variation, you have to experience it to fully use it," Tugoro spoke to Jade, answering her earlier questions about Electric Judgement. "That's why it's so controversial, but you do not need to harness negative emotions to generate it." The Jedi almost forgot they were in the middle of escaping, as he elaborated on his ability.

As the two Jedi entered the shuttle, Jade would listen attentively at [member="Tugoro Taidarious"]' explanation of Electric Judgement and she too would forget that they had been trying to escape. That was more the less given to the fact that any real formidable danger in the form of Sith had long since ran and departed.

"You must teach it to me sometime in the near future Tugoro." Jade would nod at the younger man and begin powering up the shuttle's engine. Soon after they were in the air as Jade keyed in the co-ordinates for the Enclave.

"We'll need to treat your hand once we are back. Does the Enclave have any facilities that would be useful? Otherwise it is gonna be a bit of a handful or perhaps I should say hand less flying your ship out of the Enclave and off Nar Shaddaa." Jade would giggle as she tried to be somewhat be funny. More the less this was to help cheer up her young Jedi friend.

As Jade flew high into Nar Shaddaa's skies, she would then pin point the Enclave far below. Then a sharp drop and nose dive would follow, before she quickly pulled up and then slowly eased the Shuttle to a gentle landing inside the Enclave.

"Sorry about the little stunt there. Just did it cos it makes it harder for anyone to track us or follow us if anyone just happened to be. And you know after all the trouble we've already had, one can't take any chances."

Both Jedi then would climb out after Jade powered down the shuttle's engine.

"Looks like our work is done here for now. Well I at least know those thugs or Imperials or whatever they were, the ones that attacked us and specifically me on New Alderaan were not the same Imperials or Dark Lord responsible for murdering my parents when I was a child. Umm however, we still have some investigating to do. Who exactly is Thetan, and who does he serve? He knew we were coming and I bet he or someone above him already knew who at least I was when those thugs were sent to attack me on New Alderaan. Clearly he would have known that beating them would be easy, and that then I would have come here looking. Yet once Sansa was killed he ran. I wonder what the real motive is?"

Jade would be left baffled at the question. Yet it was clear that the real quest had only just began, and that Jade and Tugoro would become a team in the challenge that lay ahead.

Now that a focused mind was not entirely necessary, Tugoro could feel the pain inflicted from his burns slowly returning. They were out of harms way for now, allowing the Jedi to relax as he sat back in the co-pilots chair. Not for long however, for it was never a dull moment with [member="Cynna Jade Sunrider"]. The shuttle lurched downwards suddenly, almost jerking the young man out of his seat. Gripping the chair with his only functioning hand, Tugoro would hold on for dear life, before relaxing once more as they landed within the Enclave. Exhaling loudly, Tugoro would stand from his seat, gripping his wrist in pain as he winced ever so slightly.

"Luckily, there is a medbay. I'll get another replacement," the man spoke, shrugging off the injury as if it were nothing. The way he had lost his actual hand was far more embarrassing, anyway. Having remained silent for the majority of the ride, Tugoro would voice the majority of his opinions while the two exited the shuttle. "I hope you never have to experience Sith lightning," the Knight spoke, knowing how keen Jade was on learning Electric Judgement. It was an extremely useful technique, but could only be utilized with a serene, calm state of mind.

The woman was definitely a skilled Jedi, but at this point he could argue that he was more mature than her. Tugoro had once been blasted by a consistent stream of Sith lightning, powerful enough to char his clothes and burn his skin. Thanks to that, he had been prepared for Thetan's electricity, and was able to resist it. "It's a technique that should develop naturally, if you have enough control and understanding of the force." Tugoro noted, remembering the way he had learned of it. How foolish he had been.

Shaking his head, the young man would make his way out of the Enclave hangar, eventually ending up in the medical bay with a new robotic hand. All the while, his thoughts dwelled on the adventure they had just been through, and it's purpose. He was as stumped as Jade was, however one thing was clear. Their objective was to sully the Jedi name, and kill as many in the process while doing so. Their work was far from over.
