A Blackbird Flies

Soliael floated through the emptiness of space sitting in his newly minted Blackbird stealth fighter. Below him sat Anaxes, one of the Republics few fortress worlds. The black Stealthfighter floated listlessly by one of the GOLAN defense platforms that sat within orbit of the planet, as it did so no sensors went off, no alarms began to blare, nothing happened. That was of course the purpose of a stealthfighter, even when its drive was active The Blackbird was completely and totally untraceable. It was a glorious thing really, and one that should not be put to waste.

Fortunately for the Republic however Soliael meant absolutely no harm on this day. He did not want to attack or damage Anaxes, all he wanted to do was test his new ship. The Blackbird had been designed by his grandmothers Engineer's based off of technology created hundreds of years ago. It was updated of course with current to date technology, and it now worked seamlessly. It seemed that the Planetary Defense Forces had not detected Soliael or his ship.

A smile split his face slightly as he flipped a few switches within the ship. Slowly the engines sprang to life, the black exhaust spewed out completely matching the space surrounding the fighter.

Soliael was pushed forward and around the GOLAN platform slingshotting himself around the satellite and sending himself hurtling towards the planet. As he did so Soliael reached over to a small switch, above it there was a small label that simply read “communications”, currently it was switched to off, Soliael simply reached over to it and flipped it upwards.

With that simple action the Blackbird became visible for all the world to see. Immediately the defense forces of Anaxes would be alerted to the craft which was now broadcasting a strange data burst. They would be able to see him on radar, and then when they got closer they would make out the feint lines of the Blackbird itself.

It was time to test this ships agility.

Scarlet's ship drifted through space as she took a small nap. The Crimson Spear's engine hummed lightly to match the rhythmic sound of her breathing. Suddenly snapping awake, she stretched and looked outside her cockpit window. The ship seemed to have drifted a good piece from earlier, as she was now faced with a strange planet she had never been to. Sitting up in her chair, the young girl took hold of the controls and quickly tapped in a series of buttons, which activated the ship's cloaking mechanisms. If this was by any chance a non-friendly planet, she didn't want to be caught in crossfire. Even though the ship was fast and nimble, Scarlet didn't need to be getting a new paint job anytime soon.
