When:
Early evening, just as night begins to fall and a rainbow of muted colors turns to streak the skies overhead.
Where:
The gardens of the Silver Temple on Kashyyyk.
Who:
Jyoti Nooran and Joury Syhn
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Master?" Joury began, timid and unsure. She'd never been a Padawan before, and truly wanted to make the right impression on the small but stately Jedi.
"Master?Where would you have me begin?I have finished reading the texts suggested for all Padawan, but I don't know how to proceed. There is so much to learn, and this is all quite overwhelming."
Joury remembered what her sister had told her, reminding her to focus herself and to keep tight rein on the Den-Tongue she was used to using. "It sounds like a sick Gungan making love to a drunken Hutt," Vi would tell her, again and again, "You can be more than that. You already are, so act like it."
Many outside of Dagata, in fact, many in Dagata found Den-Speak annoying and crass, a sure sign of low birth and poor heritage. Kashyyyk itself was overwhelming. The giant trees and vibrant foliage, the serenity and beauty of the Order's campus. Joury could hardly believe it all was real, that she was here, learning to become a Jedi Knight. There had not been a Jedi to set foot on Dagata in almost four centuries, not since the Grey Lady ruled and ordered the Jedi away from our world. She, and only she, was the lone Jedi on Dagata, and she refused their Order, refused the great Master, Luke Skywalker to his face and called him a fool and a coward! When she died, that was the last day a Jedi was on Dagata.
Imagine! Imagine going home after this, to be Jedi when I stepped off the ship into the very Den I grew up in! The thoughts thrilled her and Joury fought to contain her excitement.
