A Ball Is Always Nice (Leo & Luna)

Jake Sorin

Guest
Jake Sorin wore a nice black two piece suit, he was going to a ball. Jake always liked dancing and music so he decided it would be fun. He walked in and went directly to a corner of the main hall. Many of the women were dressed in....dresses and the men were dressed in suits. Jake smiled, although he didn't like confrontation he loved dancing, so he was fine with being around people for one night.

Jake leaned off to the side by a wall and looked at the various people. He instantly decided to sit back until his stomach stopped flipping, he didn't just hate confrontation he hated being by huge crowds.

He slowly pulled a cigg. from his suit pocket, then lit it.

"You Had to talk yourself into coming didn't you?" Jake complained to himself.

This was getting ridiculous. One minute, Luna's begging her brother to let them come to this ball. The next, she's clinging to Leo's arm and refusing to do anything social. Sometimes he forgot how immature his sister could be. He walked her over to one side of the dance floor.
"Are you honestly planning on just hanging onto me all night? There are plenty of people around here. Just look!"
He gestured to the entirety of the room they were in. There were LOTS of people. That didn't make Luna feel any better. She sat down on the ground as best she could in the tight black dress Audrey had given her for the occasion, picking nervously at the hem of the skirt that reached just below her knees. She didn't really like dresses. Always so... dressy. Leo sighed and sat down next to her.
"Yeah, I know. Dresses just aren't your thing. Do you honestly think I like this tux? I feel like a Bantha packed into a dehydrated fruit canister."
That made Luna smile. She huffed a few times; Her version of laughter. Leo smiled back.
"All I'm saying is that we should meet some new people every once in a while. It's not healthy to shut everyone out all the time, you know?"
Luna blew a piece of her up-done hair out of her eyes in response. She didn't really share her brother's ideals when it came to talking to strangers.

Jake puffed smoke one last time before putting out his cigg. He then looked up from his feat. there were two redheads sitting down. He decided to walk over there, Jake did his best to avoid as much people as he could then he finally reached the two twins.

Jake maintained his posture.

The girl was pretty, but he completely stopped his thought there when he remembered the twin male sitting next to her.

a partial smile formed across his face.

"Hello, i'm Jake...Jake Sorin." He said looking at Luna for a time then nodding at Leo.

A new person. Someone they didn't know! Leo smiled up at Jake from his place on the floor. Luna glued her eyes to the heels on her feet, scooting a little closer to her brother. Leo noticed the prolonged look this new guy gave his sister. He remained wary, but friendly nonetheless.
"Hi. I'm Leo. This is my sister, Luna..."
Leo nudged her lightly with his elbow. She looked up for two seconds and gave Jake a tiny wave. As quickly as her head was u, it was down once more. Leo sighed again and looked at him apologetically.
"She's a bit shy around new people."

Jake smiled.

Jake watched Leo then smiled again.

"It is nice to meet you Leo, and Luna...Mind if I sit?" Jake said softly.

He was comfortable around the two redheads, they were different. Brother and sister....bonded, a bond Jake did not share, he never had a sister or brother.

Shaking his head, Leo scooted over a little so that Jake could sit down beside him. Luna moved with him. She didn't look up from the floor. Leo looked out at the dance floor for a moment. At least, that's what it looked like he was doing. In reality he was sending his sister a secret message through his mind.
<Can you at least TRY to be friendly? It's not every day that we come to a party and meet someone after all.>
Luna's eyes darted to Jake's dark, sulking form next to Leo for a moment before shifting to her brother.
<You know what people are like when they figure out I can't talk.>
Now Leo's eyes locked with hers. Their heads remained in the same positions, making them look as inconspicuous as anyone else there. But an argument was being waged between their stares.
<You know, not everyone is our family. You'll never know what they think if you don't try to get to know them.>
<What if I don't want to get to know them? What if I just want them to keep their damn noses out of our business??>
<Luna, will you listen to yourself? You're acting like a spoiled five-year-old! Will you stop being so dramatic?>
<This is your thing, Leo! If you wanna make friends so bad, then go right ahead. Just leave me out of it!>
<C'mon, don't be like that...>
Luna stared daggers into her twin. He blinked and looked over at Jake, knowing full well that his sister would not be persuaded otherwise.
"So... You come to these things a lot?"
It was a shabby attempt at breaking the silence, but Leo had to do something to shake off the tiff he'd just been through.

Jake wondered why Luna wasn't talking, Leo seemed to look away for a second and it was silent.

A few minutes later Leo spoke.

He asked if Jake had gone to these things often, Jake smiled.

"Well actually yes, I love the dancing and the music, the only things I hate is the amount of people, I often spend times on the forests of Endor just walking alone, this one time I even met this girl, I forgot her name but she popped out of nowhere, she warned me about a few beasts, saved my life, she didn't speak one work, it hurt her throat too much." Jake said as a small smile appeared on his face.

That made Leo smile a bit wider. He rubbed his chin, mockingly appearing to contemplate what Jake just said.
"Not a word, huh? Did you find it vulgar or unbearable in any way?"
He glanced in Luna's direction as he spoke. That only made her glare back at him even more.

"No not in any way."

Jake said with a smile. He pulled a pack of cigs from his pocket

"Want some?" Jake said holding the pack out.

[member="Leo & Luna"]

Leo held up a hand and politely shook his head.
"No thanks."
He nudged Luna as a way of reminding her what Jake just said. There was no reason for her to worry about what Jake thought. He'd accept that she couldn't talk.
"So, yeah. About that. Luna's a little nervous around new people. Mainly because... She can't talk."
Once again, Luna looked down to the ground, to embarrassed and afraid to look up.

Jake pulled out a cig and lit it,

Then looked at him.

"Oh...I see..." Jake paused and looked at Luna

"I am sorry, "

[member="Leo & Luna"]

Luna began picking at the hem of her dress again. She was glad that he was sorry instead of disgusted, but she still didn't feel any better about it. Leo tilted his head until he could see Luna's face.
"Oh, C'mon. Jake's talking to you, not to me. It's not very polite to ignore him."
Luna sighed, finally looking up. Her blue-violet eyes, identical to her brother's, locked with Jake's. She gave him a tiny smile. Leo patted her on the back.
"See? Now, that wasn't so hard, was it?"
