Name: 66726565 686F6C64 or “Freehold” in Galactic Basic.

Classification: Trade city and urban refuge.

Location: It is on Ord Cestus, built into a series of mesas. The bridge is the primary ground entry, connecting to other planet-based transit lines at a station. There is also a hanger on the south side.

Affiliation: Technically run by 50H31, and the Holy City for the Route to M4-78. It is administered by the Temple bureaucrats.

Population: Several hundred thousand people, counting droids in its census data, unlike most other population centers.

Demographics: 60% droids, 15% X’ting 12% Human, 5% Shard, 4% jawa, and 4% other various species.

Points of Interest:

Temple of the Route to M4-78: 50H31’s temple and laboratory campus is in the middle of town, re-modeled from the administrative headquarters of the old facility. Codex submission here.

The Scrap Bazaar: Arguably the largest market for old and used droid components in the sector, the Scrap
Bazaar is a hub of droid-centered services and merchants, specializing in parts, designs and tools for droids from across the galaxy. This market is not regulated heavily, save for the fact that space is rented, and security is provided, by the Temple Security forces. While some dealers are decidedly selling ‘hot’ equipment, the market is usually free of surface tensions or violence.

The Starheart: A large hypermatter reactor near the heart of the city. While it was originally used to power the massive droid production capabilities of the site, it is now used mostly to provide cheap energy and recharge power-cells at low rates. There are many public junctions on the pipelines in the city, where access is granted to plug in and recharge for a fee, collected by the Temple.

Heaven’s Road: Not a location in the city per se, but as the city’s main land exit is a single bridge leading to other roads on the planet, the station, hostel, and cantina place at heaven’s road is basically a small place at which vistors to the city can stay the night or buy a spot of lunch before doing business there.

Description:
Built in the former factory complex of Hegemonic Automaton, the walled city of Freehold is probably the singular most unusual place on Ord Cestus. A droid factory turned scrap-yard turned city, many levels of the city can be described as “pieced together from spare parts and old tech, and bits of ship". In general, Most of the migration of organics here is because of the Bazaar, which is a great place to find, sell, and buy all variety of droid materials.

Of note in particular is a small community of Shards here who specialize in building bodies for themselves, finding that a city filled with droids is happy to lend its expertise to Shards. Also, itinerant jawa merchants are fond of the city, and often set up swaps and deals in the Scrap Bazaar.

History: After claiming the abandoned Hegemonic Automaton production facility on Ord Cestus, Five-oh built a temple complex in the middle of the large super structure. As time continued and Five-oh both made and contacted more droids, a small community of refugees, scavengers, and tech-heads decided to live and grow in the newly coined “Freehold.” Aside from a large community of droids, jobless X’tings and Humans who were laid off with nowhere to go after the collapse of Hegemonic Automaton found work as sellers, repairmen and maintainers.

Eventually, in order to fund the city’s defenses and keep droid parts in circulation, Five-oh cordoned off a large section of the city as a bazaar, and charge rental fees to whomever would set up shop, be it for days, or months. Six months in, and the place has become a great place for droid equipment and unusual technology. The Temple itself has a small permanent shrine there for meditation and teaching, and accepts donations.

AS the city grew, so did its need for protectors, and Five-oh helped create and recruit a corps for protection of the city, and the Pathfinder Monks were born, as an organization to preserve order on Ord Cestus and occasionally work as agents abroad of the Temple. Although some of the order’s members were built by Five-oh, none of them were forced into service or programmed solely to follow orders. Each monk must willingly train in the order’s spiritual and legal practices before being allowed to carry weapons in the name of Freehold.

Intent: Every prophet needs a place for his gospel to grow from.
