Team 2
[member=Shamus Walker] | [member=Vengeance]
[member=Di Mancini] | [member=Popo]
-=-
Start Position: Hex # 20.15

Conditions of Victory:

-=-
Destruction / incapacitation of enemy forces

Terms of Equipment:

-=-
Each team member is permitted 4 main battle tank vehicles of their choosing (limitations will be decided upon in the instance of extremities)

-=-
Each tank may be outfitted with any and all compliment forces and equipment that its design / role allows
eg. AT-TE Walkers can carry up to 30 infantry soldiers, therefore 30 infantry soldiers may be included in that vehicle's compliment

-=-
Any and all equipment, forces, ammunition types, and capabilities must be included in primary / introductory post

Map / Terrain:

-=-
52.5 km X 42.5 km @ 2.5 kilometers per Hex

Weapon Ranges Across Hexes:

-=-
The Hex you on located on counts as Hex # 0
The range of your weapon is calculated against the distance of each hex (2.5 km each hex)
Calculate from there the number of hexes you can fire

-=-
Rockets and missiles are of course dealt with differently, let's be smart about that and rely on our common sense; if you feel something is too far away, it probably is

Extra Notes

Maneuvering: COMBAT vs. NON-COMBAT

COMBAT maneuvers: 1 post = 1 hex.
NON-COMBAT maneuvers: 1 post = 2 hexes.

*This allows us to maneuver faster across terrain when we're not engaging one another so we don't waste too much time describing the road trip to battle.

**Similarly: If you disengage from combat to flee, you can cover two hexes with one post, but only if you're not trying to return fire.

***Lastly, about firing and maneuvering:
Firing and maneuvering take place in different time spans. Maneuvering takes a while, whereas lining up your target and firing happens in seconds. Thus, these will require separate posts, that way we cannot merely outmaneuver each other in mid-post/mid-fire. Instead, line up your shot and fire only after your opponent has responded with their own maneuvers. That way, the position you last put your tank in is the position you're stuck in when your opponent pulls the trigger.

****The major thing to keep in mind is how different terrain types will affect maneuvering and even optics. Swampy terrain will slow you down depending on your vehicle type. Repulsors will have the easiest time, walkers the next hardest, and tracked vehicles the utmost difficult.
If your opponent is on high ground, they may be able to see everything you do, whereas you may not even be able to see them.

*****FINAL NOTE:
These rules, regulations, ideas, etc, are all intended to remain fluid. If one of us feels something needs to be changed in the middle of the fight, then we discuss it, and change it. Rather than rely on entire systems to help us complete battles, this exercise is about using cooperation and collaboration to reach an appropriate end.

Sergeant Giles glanced at the map one more time before retreated down the cupola and back into the turret, taking care to secure the hatch. After all, it wouldn't do well to have someone from the outside try to open it from the outside to toss a grenade in, or for it to rattle open while under enemy fire. He shouted up from to Private Tobruk, a sandy-haired man from some hardscrabble desert world in the Rim.

"Hey, we're good to go on that azimuth, let's get the group rolling."

With that, the four R-10s rumbled forward to maneuver around the light vegetation in front of them.

Ali watched smoke drift before her eyes as she drew on the cigarette between her lips. A cool breeze washed over her from the North, where snow-swept lands lay barren and empty. To the South, however, life was teeming, and Ali was about to immerse herself and her crews within its tendrils. The landscape before them was varied and dense. The the South East and West of her there lay mountain ranges, with villages and small cities opposing one another in between on either side of a series of rivers and lakes that ran from the North to the South. Further South there ran a mountain range that blocked off the Northern moistures from passing over and watering the dry, desert lands that lay beyond.

Currently, Ali was sitting atop her vehicle's mottled green-brown camouflaged hull with her rifle resting across her plated thighs as she considered their next move. There were four other vehicles in the outfit, Ali could see them making their way South. "Well ma'am, what are we doing?" A voice called. She looked over and saw the top hatch cracked open. Gunnery Sergeant Jay Mason, one of the dismount squad leaders, arched his eyebrows as she glanced at him. "Well?" He asked a second time. Ali sighed, then reached up and wrapped a hand around the barrel of the cannon and pulled herself onto her feet. "We're moving, get your shebs inside." She barked, taking a final drag of her cigarette before flicking away and watching it bounce off the hull of the tank with a flash of bursting coals. Pulling on her helmet Ali yanked open the hatch and dropped inside, pulling it closed behind her and locking it.

::What have we got, guys?:: Ali asked over the commlink. The response was swift. ::Captain, Sergeant Giles has already headed out, they're moving South East, grid location zero-six-zero-one.:: Ali grunted her thanks as she sat down in the gunner's row next to Sergeant Mae Hardy, who was currently gazing at the gunner's display before her. ::Anything out there?:: Ali asked, stowing her rifle at her side in the clip-set for weapons. Sergeant Hardy shook her head. ::Nothing yet, ma'am, but I'll keep you posted.:: Ali turned her attention to their pilot next. ::Corporal Dan Spiewak, do we have comms with the rest of the group?:: She asked. ::That we do, ma'am.:: The Bothan male answered pleasantly. Spiewak could never be too chipper, in Ali's opinion.
She smiled and glanced at the commander's display before her. It was attached to the same framework as the gunner's hand station and display, allowing Ali to take control in case Sergeant Hardy's system went down.
::My gun...:: Ali called, flipping the switch that gave her control. Quickly she scanned left and right, identifying the other three vehicles in her group. ::All vics, report your ready status.:: She ordered. The replies came in within moments.
::Able-Two-One, REDCON One.:: That was Leftenant Jeffers.
::Able-Two-Two, samesies.:: Sergeant First Class Aubry Tasset.
::Baby Bear, REDCON One.:: Gunnery Sergeant Hreese Maeby.

::Good to hear. Pilots, keep intervals at two hundred meters, no less. Gunners, eyes peeled. We've got roughly eight hostiles in the region though we have no fix on their location. Mission is to identify hostile armor and destroy them. We've got four friendlies with us, feel free to take a moment and say hello to Sergeant Giles.::
Ali made sure to key Giles in to the conversation at that moment. She manipulated her commander's display for a moment, drawing up the tactical map and outlining their current objective.
::We're moving South, grid location zero-six-zero-four. There's a small village down there we'll be scouting through on our way to the bridge crossing located at point one-zero-zero-five. Once we arrive at the crossing we'll push forward with Two-Two, Two-Three, and Two-Four. Two-One, you'll be sticking it out at the bridge, on the West side. There's plenty of farmland and forest you can hide in, scout out a location and watch the crossing as well as the passage coming from the South. There are two cities we need to secure, though with so few vehicles we'll likely only scout through them. For the moment, follow Sergeant Giles' vehicles.:: Giles' Reliant's weren't the heaviest tank design out there, but that was their advantage. Ali hoped to use his force as an advance scout, while her own vics provided overwatch for their smaller brethren.

Wes sat in the commander's seat of Whiskey Alpha with a headset on speaking over the radio to all of the tank crews at once.

"Alpha to all tanks." "Here we go boys the objective is simple." "Search and destroy." "Find the enemy tanks and destroy them." "Maintain your spacing check your targets." "We will have support in this mission so again check your targets."

Wes smiled softly to himself.

"Heads on a swivel boys, see it then say it."

Mechanical Specs

The battle was begun! The fight had started! It was time to pitch man and machine against machine and man!

Unfortunately, Di had missed the memo. He sat sprawled in his uncomfortable commander's seat snoring away, asleep only from a combination of laziness, skill, and an all nighter playing Sabac with some other crewmen he knew back at the base. Sure, he knew that he was supposed to help out with some exercise or something today, but until that started it was nap time he figured.

Up in the driver's seat Yahraar sat quietly reading a book, a pair of tiny spectacles perched on his nose. The book was labeled Respect: An Uncommon Quality in a Common Galaxy and the pages showed signs of great amounts of use. He'd been content to sit and read while they waited and passed the time, waiting for the exercise to start.

A quiet, muted chirping broke the Wookiee's concentration on his book. A massive, furred hand reached over and brushed aside long hair from Yahraar's other wrist, exposing a chronometer. With a disappointed sigh, he marked his page and set the book down, putting it away in the small nook he normally kept it in. He looked over his shoulder from the tiny driving compartment and spotted Wiittah in his seat in the turret. The massive Wookiee gave a subdued yowl which caught the Jawa's attention.

Wiittah nodded and set down the old gauntlet he'd been trying to clean and fix, the piece of armor finding itself stacked among other choicey bits of junk in a storage area. He dusted off his hands quickly and precisely and made his way back over to the loading area. A quick nudge to the Ugnaught twins woke the two brothers up. Ozz slid off the ammunition hopper where he'd made his bed while Ozzy slid out from underneath the ammunition locker, the edge of a pillow just barely seen under the storage space before the Ugnaught kicked it back under to fully conceal it.

Satisfied the two brothers were awake, Wiittah moved to the back of the turret to wake up the commander. The Jawa carefully took the blanket from Di's lap and folded it before stowing it away safely. Once done, he picked up the old and worn teddy bear off the deck plating and put the tiny tanker's helmet back on the stuffed toy before it, too, found itself stored in a niche. Satisfied that all was in order, the Jawa shifted to the other side of the turret and pulled a small, metal rod and a thin sheet of metal from another cranny in the tank.

He carefully hopped back up on the gunner's seat and stood up, his diminutive frame barely taking up the seat itself. Making sure to keep his balance and to set the metal sheet just right, Wiittah checked to make sure that Di was fast asleep and still snoring. With a satisfied nod, the Jawa knew it was time.

A horrid, loud, and obnoxious banging filled the small tank as Wiittah furiously mashed the metal rod against the thin sheet metal. Di woke up with a start and slid off the chair and onto the floor. Wiittah had removed the blanket so that Di wouldn't flail and harm himself in falling. He'd taken the stuffed toy to prevent the commander from flinging it at the Jawa upon waking.

"I'm up! I'm up!" cried Di from the floor, scrubbing his bearded face with both hands to clear his eyes of sleep. "Holy Bantha, Wiittah, I'm up!"

With a small, chattering laugh, Wiittah stowed the metal sheet and rod and hopped back on the seat. Yahraar held up a furry arm and pointed at his wrist with is other paw, yowling a statement in Shyriiwook.

"Man, I hate when you do that, Wiittah," came Di's tired voice as he slowly climbed back into his chair. He pulled his helmet off for a moment and scratched his head before returning the headgear. "What? Oh, okay Yahraar. The exercise thing. It starts now? Okay. What are we doing?"

Another yowled response came from the driver's seat as Di yawned loudly.

"Okay, okay. I'll check in. Sheesh, you'd think you guys would just, I dunno... poke me or something to wake me up."

He grabbed the handset for the comms of the tank and popped into the comm channel.

"This is..." he started, realizing he was supposed to have a callsign, but couldn't remember it for the life of him. "Uh... this is the R-10-8... Uh... 'Screwball'. Callsign Screwball. What's the mission status, over?"

Sergeant Giles briefly listened in on the comms to walker crews checking in, with his own lead tankers introducing themselves in kind. But while the atmosphere was relatively calm, he was far from itself. He was relatively junior as a sergeant, and had little experience in commanding even this large of a group. Thankfully, he wasn't expected to write out full Op orders for their every move from here on out; he had already discussed their basic plan of maneuver with the walker crews before the exercise started, but he was almost certain that their plans would change once they made contact with the enemy.

As they talked over the comm's, Giles kept his eyes peeled as he led the column deeper through the woods to their first objective. So far, the going had been fairly easy, though it looked like the woods were about to become thicker and the terrain more uneven. It would be the ideal place to set up an ambush for his group. The man kept his lookout as his tanks rumbled forward once more.

Ali watched through the commander's display as their vehicles trailed South behind Giles' own. Ali considered the design of the Reliant, curious to see her mother's own vehicles tested in battle for the first time. I just wish I wasn't strapped inside one of them, Ali thought to herself. Her mother, Myra Hadrix, had designed the C1M2A with full consideration for the soldiers who would use it in mind. Thus, it was a comfortable, adaptable, and powerful vehicle.
Ali's MAT-TE's lumbered gently along after their companions, before beginning to spread out beyond their 200 meter minimum dispersal and filter into the thin forest of trees that surrounded them. As Ali turned her gaze East, she espied a passage on her map that crossed North of the large lake before curving South toward the city that was their primary destination.
::Hold up folks, drivers keep moving forward slowly.:: Ali called, getting the attention of her TC's. She outlined a circle around the passage and isolated Two-Two for movement.
Ali keyed Sergeant Giles into the conversation on a private line. ::Sergeant Giles, it's Captain Hadrix, I had an idea. How about we pair one of your Reliants to each of my walkers and use them as scouts while the heavier guns cover them long range? We could cover ground faster that way. I'm anxious to see what's in that city East of the Lake. I would recommend we break into two pairs and one group of four. We can send one pair around that Northern passage and the other South, while the group of four takes the bridge crossing. How copy, over?::
