The blade that would eventually become 37's Balisong was forged thousands of years ago within the fires of Korriban by a Sith whose name is now lost in the ethos of history.
During the time of the blades making the Sith were at war with the Jedi, their forges were constantly ablaze creating swords, daggers, knives, and other weapons. These weapons were all crafted and honed with the darkside of the force, given properties unique to them alone. They were rendered capable of deflecting blaster bolts, absorbing energy, and even fending off the blows of lightsabers. Hundreds of these unique weapons were created, and after the defeat of the Sith at the hands of the Jedi...most of them were lost.
These blades were scattered around the galaxy, either forgotten or simply uncared for.
The blade that would become 37's Balisong was an ordinary weapon, at least by the standards of Sith. It held the same properties as a regular Sith Sword, albeit much smaller. Over the years, as the eons passed, the hilt of the blade was worn away, the housing was chipped and broken until eventually only the blade itself remained. It's true properties forgotten the blade was swept from owner to owner, eventually landing in the hands of a man named Darid. Darid, the fine craftsmen that he was took the blade off the hands of a merchant on Dantooine and created a housing in the style of a Balisong.
The blade now having a proper home caught a brief memory of it's former life. Darid was a mercenary, and gleefully the man took the knife and slaughtered his way through dozens of people, using the blade to execute prisoners and innocents alike. This time was brief however, for Darid was felled upon the field of battle. The balisong fell into the hands of a grave robber after that, a man who sold it to a vendor named Brin.
Brin sold his wares within the Rishi Maze in a small kiosk in a tiny village that no one had ever heard of. It was here, by chance, that [member="Subject 39"] saw the blade and thought of her dearest partner 39. She bought the blade from the tiny man, thanking him with a red flourish and a large grin.
