COMBAT INFORMATION:
  • Unit Size: Medium
  • Unit Availability: Rare
  • Unit Experience: Elite
  • Combat Function:
The Alpha company of the 35th battalion are a specialized rifle company with the motto "By any means necessary!". They're broken into 4 platoons,3 which have 3 assault squads and on field support, and 1 air platoon. They've been side by side for years, most of them enlisting at 18 and joining the company right out of basic. It's fostered a culture of brotherhood but extreme exclusivity. They hold each other above anything else and are quick to turn on anyone who'd harm a brother or sister. It makes them aggressive soldiers, willing to die for one another but extremely hard to manage for newer officers.
At the core of their tactics is the ideology 'engage the enemy and follow up until they are completely sundered by fire'. No withdraw orders have ever been made by an officer primarily in-charge of the detachment. A fact they carry with pride. Their doctrine teaches them overwhelming force and unshakable will brings victory and that's what they display on the battlefield. Cold faces and terrifying battle cries coming from ice cold operators ready to go down for their cause.
Strengths:
  • Unshakeable Will - "Hard Heads", as their known on field, are one of the most selective branches of the Legion. Even if one is luckily enough to try out and pass the hellish 80% drop out rate not all can be allowed into the program. Because they're so selective, the quality of the individual soldier is extremely high. Not only is each one a veteran on the field, their mind is as sharp as a vibroblade and they're loyal as a dog. Willing to do anything, face down anyone and charge every mountain, "Hard Heads" are monsters of war with unbreakable willpower.
  • Best of the Best - As mentioned, the selection processes for the 35th Alphas is extremely rigorous. Not only do their grades and PT scores have to be in the top percentile but they must have years of proven combat experience. After they're selected, the 3 months of training to follow is the most enduring and painful experiences one can have. From simple arms and fitness training to full blown psychological torture for mental endurance, the company tests and strains it all. Whoever can survive the process comes out one of the most elite machines of war.
Weaknesses:
  • Isolated - The 35th A have been isolated from their main battalion and force for some time now. Although they've found success in their own right it has lengthened the process for recruitment and equipment procurement. It also means less support on the battlefields, forcing them to try and support their own troops with a small airborne platoon. The soldiers blame the officers for it and a silent resentment grows.
  • Slow movement, heavy guns - The 35th lack a lot of what most companies take for granted, one of which is a good way to move their numbers at a global scale. With no naval support or ships large enough to transport them it takes a while for them all to muster if plans change.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Alpha company spent over 25 years under the 35th Battalion command before splintering during the operation of "Pulse Fail" on the planet of Eed 60 years ago. The break off was dramatic and the day sent shocks all over the company completely reforming it's culture. The operation was to assault a large rebel city where it was expected there to be heavy casualties, military and civilian. The entire Alpha company, at the time three infantry platoons, were dropped smack into the middle of the fighting and were entrusted with carving out what would become a suitable FOB. They found a suitable location but ended up getting trenched in for over six hours taking constant mortar fire the entire time. Finally what would become the fourth platoon of the Hard Head company, the "Hell born air born", a 20 man platoon who conquered the air above the city that day and quelled the fighting with their bombers.
It should have ended there but as soon as celebration started a horrible buzz come through every 35th Alpha radio from the Hell Born CO. It was muffled, panting and overall unclear. "Empire testing a weapon, rest of battalion off planet, moving outside of city to location gamma... Location gamma" Orders quickly fell through the ranks of the Alphas. Move to meeting point Gamma now. The Empire is about to launch something big. In no time they were packed but panic still filled them. The Empire wasn't exactly known for testing out hug machines or kiss droids. Luckily enough, the entire company made it out of the city before they saw what would only be deemed as mass murder.
Inside the already quelled city a behemoth of a machine arose. Its back opened with a menacing sound emanating out to the innocents below. In seconds the metal monster unleashed a flurry of smaller machines into the air, all of them opening like umbrellas in the sky, showing off their refracting insides. Anyone looking had to close their eyes as light began bouncing off them, then down to the streets below. Screams were heard all the way to the meeting point but the company shook it off.
The day afterward, during internal briefing, the company came to reevaluate itself. They were mad with their battalion, allowing them to die in the city they had just fought so hard to win. Everyone wanted to strike back at them but they knew they would have to compromise along the way. They couldn't risk the Empire's ire, who in their eyes did nothing wrong, because the men still needed to fight for something. They were and always will be Imperial soldiers at heart.
It came that, alongside their new friends the Hell Born, Alpha company made the long trek back to a firm Sith base to begin the grueling process of breaking free from their battalion. It ended up being mostly paperwork that did it, but they were free and began building their legacy as relentless survivors and true brothers in arms.
