- Description: The 117th Stormtrooper Division is trained to the capacity of the Imperial Army's Stormtrooper Corps, being the premier conventional fighting force of the Empire and the Galaxy as a whole the training received by the 117th is as intensive as it is effective, beginning at Fort Rex on the Imperial Prime Sector world of Adumar, the Stormtroopers receive 22 weeks of one station unit training before graduating and either being sent to specialized schools or directly to their duty stations within or outside the Imperial borders. With their specialized role, the troopers of the 117th received additional air assault training on Adumar before eventually being deployed to their permanent duty station at Joint Base Vanto, Ansion. A command post toward the edge of Imperial space operated by both the Imperial Army and Naval Expeditionary forces attached to Task Force Trachta of the Imperial Vanguard.

- Goals: Provide a rapid-response force to the Imperial Army in the hopes of combatting the Brotherhood of the Maw surprise strikes and raids in the Imperial Outlands and Chiss Ascendancy .
- Reputation: The 117th is one of the newest commissioned Stormtrooper Legions of the Imperial Army, lacking much of the storied reputations that its counterparts in the 501st, 307th, 171st and 907th tend to carry in stride. However, the Stormtroopers as a whole are a vaunted and capable fighting force with a reputation vindicated in the Third Imperial Civil War. While the 117th lack the legacy that came with the aforementioned units exploits in the Third Imperial Civil War, Stormtroopers are held in high regard by their peers in the Imperial Army as well as most other groups operating within the Empire. However its task and purpose have quickly isolated itself among the other Stormtrooper Divisions as one of the lesser desirable units to be assigned to, given its frequent cycling combat deployments in opposition to the Brotherhood of the Maw, something green recruits see as the greater of any evil that the Empire comes into conflict with- most preferring deployments toward the Sith Imperial remnants or on the border of the Coreward Galactic Alliance. The 117th do not have such reprieve.

- Composition: Like most Stormtrooper Divisions, the 117th's unit structure and doctrine is centered around its core of light infantry regiments with combat support companies coming in the form of combat engineers, armor, scouts, air assault, artillery and forward observations among others , relying on ancillary support from other armed forces branches usually from the starfighter corps in providing air and space superiority.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The 117th Stormtrooper Division is one of six rapid response Stormtrooper Legions commissioned by the late Irveric Tavlar in 864 with each division being brought to operational strength in 867ABY, each of them seeing immediate combat deployments to Chiss space at the onset of the Second Great Hyperspace War. Being deployed in what is former Chiss space, the 117th act as one of the many stopgaps set into place following the battle of Carlac to provide a front line of defense and offense for the Empire to ward off attacks from the Brotherhood of the Maw.
With this role, it rarely leaves the zones of combat designated on the NIO-MAW front of the Second Hyperspace War, cycling through deployments that involve regiments of the 117th acting as forward vanguard on former Chiss worlds yet to be rampaged by the MAW or back into Imperial space to garrison over evacuating chiss settlements. With the situation in Chiss space growing more desperate, the 117th has been designated as one of the units assigned to Imperial High Command's worst case scenario designation for the region, 'Carlac Contingency' which would demand the full evacuation and scorched earth of former Chiss worlds should High Command's projections and scenario check list reach the threshold by which they would enact the Contingency. While the requirements have yet to be met at the onset of 870 ABY, they are quickly reaching that marker- which would put the 117th at the forefront of one of the Empire's largest military actions against the MAW to date.
