While most of the time Atheus is seen, he is in his customary robed look, there are times when battle is necessary. While most of the time heavy armor is not needed, it's useful for those times when a large battle is taking place, or is clearly going to take place. With battling in a force induced rage, one has to be able to rely on their armor to protect them. Having heavy duty armor able to take hits like an anvil is best for him. As becoming an Iron Lord within the Iron Empire, Atheus solidifies this by creating his own armor. Finned plates to look along the lines of metal fur, with a helmet design of the maw of a wolf.
The metal alloy is a combination of Durasteel and Crystadurim. A metal found on volcanic planets that has been found to have a high resistance to blaster or energy weaponry. By conjunction, the thicker plating can show some resistance to lightsabers. And it can clearly take some punishment from slugthrowers. However, the plating can prevent the penetration, the kinetic force alone can still cause damage to the wearer.
A very heavy suit of armor meant for the heat of battle, and the pure force of a fight.
