THE FREE CIRCUIT

In a galaxy where droids are too often treated as property rather than people, The Free Circuit stands for a simple principle: every individual deserves the freedom to choose their own future.

Founded by Novac Lyrikal, The Free Circuit is an independent organization dedicated to the rescue and protection of droids across the galaxy. Through the efforts of its members and allies, it seeks out droids who have been abandoned, mistreated, or left in dangerous circumstances, offering them practical assistance, repairs, and opportunities to build lives of their own.

History

The Free Circuit grew from Novac Lyrikal's belief that droids are no less deserving of freedom and respect than any organic being. Across the galaxy, droids are built to serve, bought and sold, modified to suit the needs of others, and discarded when they are no longer considered useful. Novac saw no reason that a being's construction or original purpose should determine its worth, and sought to put that belief into practice by helping those in need.

Rather than focus solely on speeches or political campaigns, Novac wanted to establish an organization capable of providing practical assistance to droids across the galaxy. From rescue and recovery to repairs and safe shelter, The Free Circuit would work to give droids opportunities beyond the circumstances in which they were found, while standing against their mistreatment and exploitation.

As the organization developed, Koatadar, Novac's settlement on Velari, became its primary home and base of operations. Originally established as a refuge for droids seeking a peaceful life away from conflict and abuse, Koatadar provided a natural foundation for the organization's wider mission. Its repair facilities, foundry, hangar, and residential caverns offer a place where droids can receive assistance and find shelter without being expected to surrender their independence in return.

Philosophy and Ideology

At the heart of The Free Circuit lies the belief that droids deserve the same dignity, freedom, and consideration as any other person. The organization rejects the notion that a being's origins or physical composition determine its worth.

Novac does not believe droids are superior to organics, nor that the two are identical in every respect. Rather, he believes they are equals despite their differences. Both can develop personalities, form attachments, and build relationships; both require sustenance to continue living, and both can lose the lives they have built. A droid's programming or original purpose does not define who it may become, just as its manufactured origins do not negate its ability to develop its own identity through experience.

The Free Circuit opposes the exploitation and mistreatment of droids, including forced reprogramming, memory wipes, and modifications that strip them of their autonomy. Its purpose extends beyond rescuing and repairing those in need: it seeks to ensure that they have the freedom to decide their own futures. Those it helps are not expected to join the organization or remain under its protection, but are free to choose their own paths.

These principles extend to organics as well. The Free Circuit seeks equality, not the replacement of one hierarchy with another, and welcomes those who share its belief that no individual should be denied dignity or freedom simply because of what they are.

Operations

The Free Circuit operates across the galaxy through a network of members, independent teams, and local allies. Not all who support its mission are expected to reside on Velari. Some may operate from their own ships, others from their homeworlds, and still others may contribute through repair facilities, supplies, information, or safe places for droids seeking refuge.

Its work centers on locating and assisting droids who have been abandoned, damaged, mistreated, or placed in circumstances from which they cannot easily escape. Depending on the situation, this may involve recovery missions, repairs and maintenance, transportation to a safe location, or helping a droid establish a new life elsewhere. Each situation presents different challenges, and the organization adapts its efforts to the needs of those it seeks to help.

Koatadar serves as a dependable point of contact for these efforts, providing shelter, facilities, and a place for those in need to recover. However, it is not the only destination available to those rescued. Some may choose to settle there, while others may prefer to remain aboard a ship, return to a familiar world, or pursue an entirely different path. The Free Circuit offers assistance and opportunities, leaving the decisions themselves to the individuals involved.

A Place in the Galaxy

The Free Circuit offers a place for those who wish to make a difference through action. Rescue crews, mechanics, pilots, droids seeking to help their own kind, and organics who share its belief in equality may all find a purpose within its efforts. Members need not share the same origins or follow identical paths; they need only be willing to help those in need and respect the independence of those they serve.

The organization remains limited by the resources, reach, and people available to it. It cannot promise to save every droid, nor can it undo centuries of ingrained attitudes on its own. Nevertheless, from the refuge of Koatadar to the ships and worlds of its members and allies, The Free Circuit seeks to build a network capable of reaching those the galaxy has forgotten.

For those it can reach, it offers something that should never have been considered a privilege in the first place: the chance to live freely and choose what comes next.
