LEAGUE OF AUTONOMOUS WORLDS
"Hope is like the sun. If you only believe in it when you can see it, you'll never make it through the night." – Leia Organa
There’s a good reason the Outer Rim Territories are just as lawless and “uncivilized” now as they were a millennium ago. The Outer Rim is a vast blanket of stars that encompasses the southern reaches of the known galaxy, and around those stars orbit countless frontier worlds each with their own storied history and uncertain future. The powers that be—and have been—try to wrestle the Outer Rim into submission, forcing upon it unnatural rules of engagement that do little more than aggravate its wild nature. And then, it bites back.
Empires and Orders, Alliances and Republics, they all try to impose themselves upon the wilderness and stand befuddled by the results. The Outer Rim must be met where it’s at, by humble explorers who know the lay of the land and seek to preserve the one thing that makes the Outer Rim so special: unbridled freedom.
That’s where the League comes in.
Known colloquially as the LAW, the League of Autonomous Worlds is a supranational union of sovereign planets, systems, and space stations committed to the preservation of freedom in the Outer Rim and beyond. This mission is undertaken by the LAW’s multitudinous divisions, namely the League Rangers, Outer Rim Development Corps (ORDC), and the Merchant Marine.
