Throughout the galaxy, the underbellies of society have teemed with life akin to the bowels of hulking cargo freighters carrying crucial supplies modern society requires. Similar to said priceless shipments of supplies aboard countless star liners, the underworld is also a priceless construct certain... individuals live within and depend upon; be they mercenaries, smugglers, bounty hunters, or general scoundrels and grifters. Amidst the countless billions of souls who scratch a living within the shadows of the galactic underworld, there are a select few of elites who rise above the rest for a variety of reasons & traits.
Said reasons are as diverse as the people themselves; wealth, ruthlessness, opportunistic, lucky.
Successful men and women possess at least one or two of said traits. The best possess them all. Perhaps you are one of them. That thought lingers dormant within the back of your mind as a mysterious message piles into your holo-terminal inbox. You open the message, with an image filling your screen.
The image fades away, revealing the following message:
”Tired of barely scratching a living while providing your talents to those who hardly care about you or what you’re about? Looking for someone who appreciates talent?
If so, you are cordially invited to a social event, courtesy of an anonymous backer who is looking for certain individuals who can get things done, and who is willing to pay for those who can do so effectively.”
If one were to attempt to backtrace the source of the message, even the most sophisticated of scanners and tracers would reveal two things: 1. This message is heavily encrypted. 2. The trace circles back via a complex algorithm to your own holoterminal as the source. The message continues nonetheless:
”If you are interested, simply respond to this message via the below holo-address. We will contact you with the details.”
The message ends, and the reader is met with one of two options. Ignore the message, in which case it would delete after a few more minutes. Or respond to the invitation. It could be nothing. Or it could be something.
