As we approach the nine hundredth anniversary of the Battle of Yavin IV, I am hopefully optimistic.

After countless centuries of ceaseless conflict, the galaxy seems poised to enter the next millennium united in defense of the common ideals of freedom and democracy. Now, of course this is an idealistic and truth be told, objective prediction of the happenings of the next century but I am confident that it truly possible for the galaxy to finally extinguish the fires of the Dark Side and put an end to these Star Wars.

Which of course will be no easy task, but there is one or perhaps two factions in the galaxy that could hypothetically bring this scenario about.

Our great Galactic Federation of Free Alliances has emerged from the Second Great Hyperspace War "scarred and deformed" but intact and more powerful than ever. Yes, I believe we should be wary of our surroundings following the sudden and inexplicable collapses of many of our neighbors, allies, and foes but I would warn the Senate against adopting an isolationist approach to foreign policy, especially in the face of the reawakening Sith threat. I can state unequivocally that it is my belief that the Rimward Trade League must not be left alone to confront whatever the Sith are calling themselves today - Imperium or Empire. We must stand with those who would also convey a message of friendship and democracy and work together to rid the galaxy of the Sith disease once and for all.

War with the Sith is inevitable and thus we must adopt a foreign policy that accounts for the possibility and likelihood of a new armed conflict while at the same time expanding our great alliance and spreading a message of freedom, tolerance and camaraderie. I plead with the Senate to avoid the same politics of past Federations and Republics and reject the notion that the Core is in any way shape or form superior to that of the other regions of the galaxy.

We must expand in order to further spread democracy and confront existential threats to civilization but we must also be aware that we live in a time and age where society and technology are progressing at a rate that has not been seen since the founding of the Old Republic. The reawakening of the Ancient Ones, the potential discovery of new hyperspace routes hypothetically paving the way for extended exploration of the Satellite Galaxies, the creation of the dreaded Sith Super Dreadnought that posed a significant security risk to our fleets over Exegol before we triumphed - all of these are symptoms of a changing galaxy and we must change with it.

Over the next few weeks and months, I will engage with members of the Senate and of like-minded former colleagues and educational illuminates to develop a more direct and concise foreign policy guide that I will present to the Senate if they so allow me to but essentially I am arguing in favor of a more intergalactic foreign policy initiative, one that embraces the same boldness and spirit of our initial objective of reuniting the Core.

We have a unique responsibility as the most powerful faction in the galaxy to spread our ideals and hold true to our beliefs. The time has come for us to embrace modernity and reject the ways of the old. Stay focused on the mission ahead and oppose the forces of evil wherever they may reside. This is the Theory of the Democratic Leviathan. This is our future.
