Kat's appearance has evolved significantly since her creation. Back when I first brought her to life, finding the right images was a challenge. There wasn't the convenience of a quick Google search like we have today, and certainly no AI tools to make things easier. So, I did what I could with the resources I had. I turned to existing Star Wars images and chose to model her after Jaina Solo. It made sense at the time, Katarine had brown hair, I have brown hair, and Jaina had brown hair too.
As time passed, Katarine's story evolved, and so did her image. She began a romantic relationship with a character named James Terran, whose writer based his appearance on the blonde character from the old Resident Evil games. Eventually, James's writer wanted to shift the character's look to a real actor for a fresh, artistic vibe. Since they were a couple, I decided to update Kat as well. After some brainstorming, we landed on Rachel Leigh Cook as the new face of Katarine.
I kept Rachel's image for quite a while until I discovered The Vampire Diaries. I was a teenager at the time, and that vampire romance was everything. I watched every episode, and I remember babbling about it to my grandpa, who was the kind of man who always listened to my teenage ramblings. That's when Katarine morphed into Nina Dobrev. Nina stayed with Katarine for over a decade. To me, Nina will always be the face of Kat. Her energy just captured everything Katarine was meant to be.
However, as the Chaos universe developed, its art style took a very different direction. It relied more on original artwork rather than real-life playbys. This led me to experiment with AI to generate an image of Katarine as a Rogue X-men vibe with two-tone hair. I've fallen in love with this new art style.
While many aspects of Katarine have evolved over time, a few core elements have remained unchanged. She has always had deep green eyes—a detail I've never once altered. Like me, she's pale and petite, standing at exactly 5 foot 2 inches (1.5748 meters). Her signature look has never wavered: tight black flight pants, a white tank top, and a black leather jacket, perfect for undercover missions. Though her traditional Jedi attire has changed over the years. Her lightsaber has always glowed white, and she's always been a brunette. Etched around her neck are ancient runes, a mysterious and vital part of her story that I've never once strayed from. These constants are the threads that tie every version of Katarine together, no matter how much else may change.
It's fascinating to look back on how much her appearance has evolved over the past eighteen years. It makes me wonder:
Are there still more changes ahead?
