Episode 0002: Fracture Lines
Morning light filters through the glass corridors of Callistran Tower, but the atmosphere remains heavy after Liora's shocking return. Selene maintains a pristine calm in public, yet behind closed doors her composure begins to splinter.
"You could have warned me," matriarch Selene Callistran tells her husband, in a low, controlled voice.
"And give her time to prepare?" he replies. "She thrives on the element of surprise. Just like you taught her."
Liora Callistran settles into a temporary office overlooking the city, refusing any assistance and declining every overture of civility. Her first move is not strategic. It is personal. She requests access to archived company projects her father once oversaw, citing sentimental reasons with a smile that convinces absolutely no one.
Arden Voss watches from afar, visibly unsettled. When they finally cross paths again in the corridor, the silence between them is almost louder than words.
"You always hated this building," Arden says.
"I always hated what it turned people into," Liora answers, without looking at him.
Elsewhere, Rian quietly pulls strings within the system, carefully walking the line between loyalty and rebellion. A private call interrupts her work. Selene's husband. His voice is soft, almost pleading.
"I cannot keep doing this forever."
"You mean lying to your wife," Rian Hale says. "Or lying to me?"
He does not answer. Holocamera spans in the silence to his face. He is Don Callistran, husband to Selene!
At the end of the day, Liora receives an anonymous envelope slid under her door. Inside is a single photograph from her teenage years, her and Arden laughing on a sun bleached staircase.
You were never meant to leave.
The episode closes as Liora looks up from the photograph, eyes narrowing with recognition and unease. Outside her office, someone watches. And just before the screen fades to black, her phone lights up with a name she never expected to see again.
Arden Voss.
Droids of Our Lives is a dramatic soap opera set in the neon glow of a sprawling megacity where every relationship hums with secrets, ambition, and betrayal. At its heart is the Callistran family, owners of an aging but influential tech corporation slowly being devoured by internal power struggles and forbidden love affairs.
When estranged heir Liora Callistran returns after a decade off-planet, she ignites old rivalries and uncovers a web of manipulation involving her calculating stepmother, a charismatic investigative journalist with a hidden past, and a whistleblower who knows far too much about the company's darkest dealings. As alliances fracture and romances collide, the characters grapple with loyalty, identity, and the cost of reinvention in a world obsessed with progress it barely understands.
Despite its futuristic reputation and misleading name, the story remains fiercely human (to the point of being accused of speciesim, yet that has not hurt ratings), driven entirely by flawed hearts, sharp tongues, and the endless cycle of passion and regret.
