Change of Direction

Only 2 years ago Valery had stepped out of stasis and into a Galaxy similar in some ways, but vastly different in others. Her journey to adjust and find a new purpose had initially been very difficult, but several Jedi had helped her find her place and after a meditative retreat to center herself, she made her return in the wake of the Maw's attack against Coruscant. The brutality of it paired with the looming threat from this new source of evil had motivated her to focus her efforts on fighting the Dark Side in all its forms.
She had become a Jedi Shadow again.

Months of intense, mostly secretive operations followed that saw great successes among terrible encounters that only reinforced her desire to continue. From the Shadows, Valery looked for any and all information available on the Maw, while the time that remained was spent rooting out the Dark Side wherever it popped up. But throughout these missions and battles, things began to change.
There was great tension between the Jedi and Alliance, and more and more Jedi found themselves struck by the horrors of war, leaving many to search for guidance, training, or ways to cope with the loss and pain they felt. During this time, Valery had also made the decision to finally return to what she considered one of the most important aspects of being a Jedi — training Padawans. And whether she realized it or not at the time, it marked the beginning of the end for her service as a Jedi Shadow.
Perhaps more than ever before, the Jedi were in need of those able to lead and offer guidance to others. To have more Jedi visible in times of conflict and peace, able to help uphold the core principles of the organization and guide new generations to do the same.
It was time for her to go back to her roots, and serve as a Jedi above all else, visible to the Galaxy around her.
In these times of war, it was still going to involve clashes against followers of the Dark Side, but that's what her skills revolved around, and her stage was now the frontlines among her fellow Jedi, and no longer the Shadows. Her time spent going through the unknown in hopes of finding traces of the Sith now behind her, replaced by a focus on utilizing her experience to offer leadership and guidance.
