It has come to my attention that this forum has some serious issues.

By almost all accounts, this place is a RPer's paradise. For the most part, it's free from restrictive rules which prevent people from creating good stories and create a trillion different methods of exploiting the system to "win." However, that hasn't stopped people from trying.

[background=
For some reason, us RPers have a tendency to constantly take things way too seriously. The whole point of roleplaying is to create stories and share them with other people. However, for some reason, almost everyone will end up taking things too seriously at one time or another; they want their character to be better than all the other characters, or, in some cases, their faction to be bigger than the other guy's faction.

We're used to games, and in games there are objectives which you need to achieve, and the people who achieve those objectives win the game.

Roleplaying, however, is different. There is no objective. What roleplayers have to remember, and what they so often forget, is that none of what we do here matters. Sure, you can gang up on a faction to destroy it. You'll probably succeed. And what do you get for your trouble? Let's see: your fictional character gets a few white dots that represent fictional places on a fictional map. But that's not the best part: you also get to get rid of one blob of color, and put another blob of color over the top of it! I know right! It's like 1st grade art all over again!

People are ganging up on the One Sith. Let's not argue about that, it's true. This is not a new thing. There will always be people on every RP forum in the world who take things too seriously, especially when factions are involved. But can we take a step back and look at the possible outcomes of the One Sith being destroyed? What new story arc would this community take up?

[background=
Well, I guess we do some trade disputes, that's always fun...Hey, what if one corporation set up a blockade of a planet somewhere? How cool would that be? And how would all those Jedi spend their time, now that the great evil has been cast down? Well, I guess they could always protect some politicians from dangerous worm-pooping robots while said politician is involved in important negotiations regarding military legislation...Yeah, why not?

If the Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones taught us anything, it's that trade disputes don't make for good storylines. Nothing good can be achieved by the effortless destruction of the One Sith; in fact, it will only hurt the quality of stories on this site. An evil empire is much more exciting than squabbling politicians: we as Star Wars fans should understand that better than anyone!

So yes, I'm asking you, the Chaos community, to lay off the One Sith. But I'm also asking something else: that we try to remember that in the end, the only thing we will ever get out of this forum is fun. We are not really Jedi and Sith: if we were, I can guarantee you none of us would be on an online roleplaying forum. So please, try not to take things too seriously, and just have some fun for a change.
