Description
Ballistic Shielding has been around the galaxy for a while now and it's no surprise that Reclaimer Arms & Industrial would want to create their own rather than having to outsource for a steady supply of the material. So putting their noses to the grindstone the R&D department rolled out Zilo Skin, a type of ballistic material that was fantastic at blocking slugs.

Strengths. Capable of blocking a 7.62 without piercing the material the Zilo Skin gets its strength from the ballistic resistant lightweight ceramic discs. Overlapping one another when the discs are struck rather than focusing all kinetic damage on a singular point the discs help spread the wave of force around the discs to help better displace the piercing power of the round. This is how it's able to block slugs fired at it and keep its durability. It's a great lightweight material for anyone crafting armor and needing their own form of material updated to the traditional lining that is more susceptible to pierces and damage.

Weaknesses. Obviously large caliber weapons such as fifty caliber hand cannons, turrets, and snipers are capable of piercing this material. And even if they don't the sheer amount of kinetic force from a sniper will kill someone or horribly wound them. So while this is great for assault rifle grade weapons and shrapnel, anti vehicle weapons and extreme caliber weapons are too much for it to handle. But of course another problem the discs have is that they are absolutely worthless against blasters. Even a simple holdout blaster will do the trick of piercing these plates, anything plasma will burn the plates and compromise the armor.

Summary. If you want a more updated version of ballistic shielding then this material is for you to craft and play around with. Have fun and use it responsibly.
